Every now and then when my boyfriend is craving Mexican food and we just want it to go, we go either here or papa chanos. Well that craving of his hit this past fri night so we went. I've gone here at least 5 times now and I am not their hugest fan like he is. I ordered the carnitas which was dissapointing because it was crispy and kinda hard to eat. It wasn't juicy like my all time favorite place to get carnitas, Gutierrez in Salinas. I normally get there burritos anyways, but i really wanted some good carnitas and like the other times ive gone, the burritos have been eh whatever. Oh well, and I don't like how they don't give you chips and salsa to go like other places. I'll continue to go here because my boyfriend likes it or until I can find an awesome Mexican food place for take out. Any ideas welcome! read more

This place is soo good! If you ever go there, try the carne asada FRIES!

My go-to is the shrimp burrito and just ask them to add cheese. Sooooo good!!! Must say I haven't ventured off too far on the menu but have also been pleased with a chicken quesadilla and the big burrito is plenty to share with at least two people. read more

I'm from SoCal and it's hard to find good Mexican food the farther north you go in the state. This shop is SOOOOO GOOD. Oh my goodness. I had a Carne Asada Burrito and it was great. The pico was fresh and the meat was tender and juicy. However, my sister had Carne Asada fries and the fries were a little too crispy. While vacationing in Monterey, my boy wanted a breakfast burrito. We happened to see this place while driving to Target. When we walked into this place it was no frills. Girl at the register was nice. We ordered 2 bacon egg and cheese burrito's. To our delight, they were outstanding. A little more $ than what we are used to paying. It was well worth it. i tried the carne asada chips (vs. the carne asada burrito i had at the monterey location). nothing really special about them. the chips were not of the best quality -- i think the carne asada does better wrapped in a burrito. it's great that they're open late (we went past 10pm), but the other patrons that frequent the establishment around this time are obnoxious! i really could have done without the creepy guy who kept hassling us despite my attempts to wave him off. read more

Wow, this place used to be cheaper from what I remembered, but the food isn't really worth the price. I definitely like the fact the size is almost worth the price you pay, but the quality of the food isn't really there. However, since this is one of the only late-night spots open near Monterey, it's convenient. I would suggest the taco shop down the street. MUCH better and you get your money's worth. It's a shame that I can't give them zero stars! I order 6 burritos and they will only give me 2 salsas per burrito... um each burrito needs at least 4 salsas. I'm a paying customer we come here daily from my work and I can't get extra salsa?!?! We will be going to a different place from now on. I have eaten at all locations of Papa Chevos: Seaside, Marina and Monterey. I stopped eating at the Marina location due to bad customer service and now will not go to the Seaside location. I went in to buy 2 Carne Asada Chips the total came out to over $20, I paid and asked to see the receipt since the menu board stated $5.50 each only to be told that the prices went up to $8 each and the cashier didn't know when ???? The cashier who has helped me many times in the past suddenly didn't understand anything I had to say or when I questioned about the price differences, in English and Spanish !!!. He told me didn't know when the price was raised (by $2.50 mind you). Since the cashier would not give me the listed price on the board I told him they need to change the price on the board collect my money back and left, as I walked back past the door 5 minutes later he was up on a ladder changing the price. My suggestion go to MICHAELS Grill in Marina or PG the service and food is always great !!! read more

visiting the area for a few days. I like to yelp resturants to plan our meals in advance. Found this place and decided to give it a try before we left. We were the only customers when we walked in and it looked clean and bright. The decor was plain but im here for the food not the scenerey. We ordered a chorizo breakfast burritto and a bean,rice and cheese burrito. While waiting they got their 11am lunch rush. We were entertained by the 3 Mi Pueblo employees that walked in. If they made a trip to come here instead of eating where they work then it must be good! We were NOT dissapointed with our meal. I love this place me and my boyfriend go here all the time. Beware the rolled tacos though I found a toothpick in mine. Luckily I didn't swallow it. I'm very particular with my 5 star ratings. But this place deserves it. Customer service is great. I'm a steak lover and always get carne asada burrito but recently I.discovered the grilled chicken burrito.. All I can say is "oh my god"!!? Very clean, friendly and comfortable environment. Food is served in a very clean manner. I love the ladies that run this restaurant. They always have great food and a great attitude. Papa chevos. Is now my weekly stop on Tuesday on my way to work. this was a complete waste of money. they were awful. the place with beyond filthy probably had never been cleaned. there was no toilet paper in the filthy bathroom. they screwed up the order of the person ahead of us. then they served us stale chips that tasted rancid. they also served us a carnitas burrito that definitely had bad meat. the tortilla seemed old and the rice was mushy and clearly several days old. unless you want food poisoning DO NOT GO HERE. they deserve a visit from the health department..they would fail. read more

I love the carne asada fries here so much I would marry it! I don't really care for anything else on the menu although I've had the beef burrito before and it was just beef sauteed with onions and bell peppers and nothing else. No veggies, no sour cream, no love. Still tasty though. read more
