After approximately nine years as a PanTerra customer, I would not recommend this company to another business.
We decided to move our telephone system to RingCentral after a very disappointing experience with an AI-attendant service connected to our PanTerra account. Before our contract expired, I told our PanTerra representative that we had moved our business to another provider. He told me our contract was "up in August," but did not mention that August 10 was the expiration date, that written cancellation was required at least 30 days earlier, or that missing that deadline would automatically commit us to another 36-month term.
PanTerra knew that we had moved providers and were no longer using its telephone system. Nevertheless, it claimed that our agreement had automatically renewed for another three years and demanded an early-termination payment of $3,525.19.
After considerable correspondence and negotiation, PanTerra ultimately agreed to cancel the account for a final payment of $1,500, which we paid in full. Although the matter has now been resolved, I believe the way PanTerra handled a longtime customer was rigid, opportunistic and profoundly disappointing.
My advice to any business considering PanTerra:
* Do not rely on anything a representative tells you verbally.
* Obtain every promise and cancellation instruction in writing.
* Locate the exact expiration date yourself.
* Calendar the written-notice deadline well in advance.
* Understand that missing that deadline--even after telling your representative you are leaving--may result in another lengthy contract and a substantial termination charge.
A company should earn renewed business by providing excellent service--not retain customers through an automatic-renewal provision after it knows they have moved to another provider. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend PanTerra Networks. read more
