I really love their Chicken Curry Salad. I love that I can phone in my order to-go and it's ready when I get there! I can't speak to their sandwiches but their salads are excellent- my second favorite is the Cobb. Customer service is generally excellent, and I love the chef at the Goleta store- she's always smiling and recognizes me when I come. The counter staff has changed, and I agree with the other reviewer who said Katie was awesome because she totally is, although I don't think she works there anymore. Overall, Panino is one of my go-to lunch spots and I haven't been disappointed. In fact, I remember once I got a free lunch because I mentioned that the last time I ordered the same item (chicken curry salad) the apples were grainy and it seemed old. Having eaten here on several occasions I have to say the quality of food here is consistent and the quality of ingredients high. I particularly enjoyed the caprese sandwich. The lettuce and tomato were very fresh and I was pleased that a generous serving of fresh mozzarella were used. This came with a vinaigrette dressing that was light and flavorful. I like the selection of bread you can choose from for your sandwich. I almost always choose the foccacia bread. Their salads also something I enjoy. Like their sandwiches, fresh flavorful ingredients are always used. The English Stilton With Asian Pear Walnut salad, an odd-sounding combination, is full of flavor with the slight sweetness of the pear balancing the sharp flavor of the Stilton cheese. Most salads and sandwiches start at $8 making this restaurant a bit pricey but once the quality of ingredients is considered the price is rather reasonable. They also have a nice selection of gourmet sodas. Inside and outside seating is available. Their meals are well packaged for take out. read more

Went here today for lunch with a big group of friends. Great place for lunch! It's very clean and the service was quick. I got #11 Chicken and Roasted Red Pepper on focaccia bread, which was amazing! Loved the honey mustard. The honey mustard is more honey than mustard but still has the mustard-y kick. The basil was really fresh as well and added a lot to the taste. I wish I could give more stars because I did enjoy my food....the problem was the service. The place had no one in line and a lot of people sitting outside enjoying the food. I ordered and waited...and waited....and watched as the girl at the register struggled to help incoming customers and deliver the food. There was only ONE person actually preparing the orders. I was prepared to wait but then i watched as the girl at the register gave my food to another table...who ordered after me! She tried to give me something I didn't order and when I told her what I had ordered, her face said "oh S&%T". My food came (to go when I asked for here) and I couldn't wait to get out of that place. It took 40 minutes to get my food! Since it's lent, I ordered 1/2 avacado provolone and 1/2 tuna salad. The foccaccia bread was very fresh.The cucumber and bell pepper crunch on the sandwich was great. The tuna salad was just ok. Oh, my gosh, YUM!! I had never been to Panino but I had errands nearby and didn't want to make another stop for lunch. I am glad I stumbled upon this place. Super friendly service - the fellow behind the counter saw me looking at the overhead menu and handed me a menu so I could read it easier. I got the curried chicken salad sandwich and it is DELICIOUS. I only had to wait maybe 3 to 4 minutes for my sandwich. I will definitely be returning, often, to Panino. read more

My only complaint is that during the lunch hour their two staff members are over stretched. One person is making the food while the poor girl has to handle the register, delivery of the food, table cleanup and other misc tasks. Wanted some sandwiches so I decided to try this place since I always drive by it. I got #15 and my boyfriend got #19. I really liked mine the goat cheese paired really well with whatever was in it. So creamy and sweet...but that's my kinda thing. My boyfriend hated my sandwich cause of that reason. I tried his sandwich and it tasted okay to me. We had our sandwiches of foccacia bread which was average. You get the choice between foccacia, baguette, sourdough, or whole wheat. The price is kind of expensive and the portions are a bit small for the price...considering you can get bigger portions at other local sandwiches nearby with the similar price. I love panino. I switch off between three of the vegetarian sandwiches and always get them on the ciabatta which is amazing. 1. The english stilton with pear or something, I think it's number 30. 2. The Black and White add brie cheese. 3. This other one with roasted red peppers, brie, lettuce, sundriend tomatoes and stuff. they are all sooooo good! My boyfriend is a meat eater and likes his sandwiches a little more on the plain (picky) side. He gets the turkey and bria on ciabatta with no peppers or onions and adds balsamic which makes a big difference! Service is fine and it has a cute cafe environment. Always consistent and delicious. I love their focaccia. The avocado provolone sandwich is tastier than it should be thanks to the addition of their delicious honey mustard and basil. Plenty of vegetarian and meat eater options which is important in my family. Their iced tea is really good too. We LOVE Panino! We have gotten many of the sandwiches and salads, and they are all fabulous! Our recent favorite is the #19 (cobb sandwich) and add salami. Makes it a very nice combination between the cobb sandwich and the Italian sandwich. Favorites also include the chicken curry salad and sandwich, tuna salad and sandwich, stilton salad, cobb salad, and caprese salad/sandwich. Their freshly made iced tea is delicious, free refills. Although their space was relatively spacious and well lit, they were completely understaffed with one cook and one cashier/waiter/linecook/whoknowswhatelse, the wait was long (15 minutes) even though there was only one person in line in front of us, and the food was overpriced (10$ for half of a sandwich [under 6in] and a small soup). Don't get me wrong the food here is very good. the problem isn't even the workers they are nice too. The problem is they aren't trained and they are overwhelmed. I brought my buddy for lunch and told him the food is good. We stood in line for 20 minutes. The one girl at the cash register was also taking phone orders. Then my buddy got the wrong sandwich (ordered chicken salad but got Prosciutto Mozzarella and Roasted Red Peppers). He ate it anyway and laughed and said we don't have another hour. So good fresh food, somewhat pleasant workers, really slow, terrible customer service skills, overall not a great experience, got out of there in just under 2 hours. Lesson call before hand...
