So when this this Del Mar location which opened in 2019 (first location in SD county that opened) I was so happy. this is my favorite San Diego location. The food is always on point. Sad to say this review today! We are very disappointed in our large catering order we had for our company month end celebration for lunch today. We have ordered Panini countless times in the past 7 years, for our sales and operation team's lunch. Today, we received our order excluding the rice. Turns out, not only has Panini stopped giving pita bread, they stopped offering rice too! No more is there rice and pita bread offered with your shish kabob order. Prices have soared and customers receive less and less. So when we called asking where our rice was, Panini charged $50 extra AND we had to go back and pick up, even after it was initially ordered. Not happy with their food quality either. Chicken was stringy and chewy, koobedeh was cold and bland. All 2 trays of chicken, one tray of koobideh and Panini gave two salad trays and forgot our rice!! NO remorse. No apologies. Wishing for the good days when food was fresh, tasty, hot and served with great customer service. So sad to say this about one of our old favorite restaurants which is across the street from our office. Hope they work on their issues. It has been an expensive day costing us $750 read more

Uziel is the man! It's honestly a disservice that I can only give 5 stars for his service. He was incredibly kind and accommodating throughout our dinner and made us feel so welcomed. The food was amazing, especially with his recommendations, and I'll definitely be coming back because of him! This is probably the best place for chicken kabobs I know of. The chicken is always cooked so well -- it comes out piping hot and so tender and juicy. So many places overcook chicken breast and it's dry. It's never dry here. My friend had the beef koobideh, and it was good as well. I also love the basmati rice. Very flavorful. And we always get the romaine avocado salad. There were just two of us, so we didn't get the family platter. But that's a great deal and we often get that when with our families. I got one of their kabob plates; long strip of grilled beef over rice with salad, avocado, grilled veggies, and a side of that yogurt sauce. The meat was cooked well, nice char on it, decent flavor, medium juiciness. Rice was solid, nothing special but did the job. The grilled veggies were actually one of the better parts -- good seasoning, slight char, not soggy. The chicken was dryer than I remembered but still Pretty solid flavor profile. Also tried their Alfredo pasta... honestly did not expect to like it so much. It had a flavor profile that's so delicious and smacked me right in the face. Even with the linguine or whatever being overcooked it was still amazing. Overall though, it's consistent, portions are solid, and you leave full without feeling like complete garbage. It's just good on every level. The service is friendly and efficient. The food is plentiful and reasonable price. The vibe is positive. I thought this ppace was busier for lunch but it's busy for dinner also! There is ample parking the adjacent parking structure. We had a group of 7 so we did have to wait 20 minutes on a week night. I don't know how I have never been here before. The kabob is amazing. I love Persian and middle eastern cuisine and this place served it best. The service was amazing, there was plenty of seating. We came during the week for dinner and we waited about 10 minutes to be seated. We waited another 15 for our food. Everything was made fresh and served hot. It was so delicious. The rice and kabob was extremely delicious. I can't pick a favorite because both beef and chicken were amazing. I highly recommend trying this place out!! So disappointed. I've been coming here for over 11 years, and this has always been my go-to kebab place because the food has consistently been amazing. Unfortunately, today was the first time I left really disappointed. I understand prices go up, and honestly, I'm okay paying more for good food. But raising prices while also cutting the portions is really upsetting. I attached photos from before and after so people can see the difference for themselves. To clarify, I ordered both the single-skewer and double-skewer koobideh meals, and the koobideh portions in both orders were the same exact length. We've been to the Santa Ana location many times, but it was our first time here at this restaurant in Irvine. We arrived around 7 PM and got the very last table at the very end outside. I think this was the forgotten table, but it wasn't a major deal. There were heat lamps hung from the top, which were very hot. It was extremely uncomfortable for me and so I switched seats with another family member. Our server was friendly and brought us our drinks. We chose the family meal and added two beef koobideh kebabs. We also ordered the hummus trio as an appetizer. We enjoyed the smooth creamy hummus. We could've used more pita bread. But we were way out in the back corner, the forgotten table. In comparison,the portions here are smaller for the family meal from what I've had at the Santa Ana location. We went to Panini Kabob on a Sunday afternoon. Parking was good and there was no wait for our group of five. We ordered the family style kabob and hummus trio. As always, the food was great , I really love their kabobs, the taste is so authentic. But this time, I was disappointed with the service. Our server was very busy and didn't check on us the whole time, which I understand, but the hostess wasn't helpful either. When she walked by, I asked for hot sauce and she told me to ask my server. Obviously, he wasn't around for us to ask. She didn't even bother to help, so I asked another employee who finally told our server. By the time the hot sauce came, my food was almost gone. I usually go to the one near the Spectrum and the food is always outstanding. This place was also very busy but they were able to us down after only a few minutes waiting . We both ordered the flat iron steak kabob but I had ordered all rice instead of the salad. It was delicious as usual. The only mistake they made was they didn't put any bell pepper on my kabob, which is ok as long as they had tomatoes and onions, which are my favorite vegetables, so I didn't complain. My favorite one was the edamame hummus. For the main we got the family style kabobs which came with 3 chicken skewers, 2 salads (we got the greek and romaine avocado), and rice (we got the white basmati). We also got the beef koobideh kabob plate to try, and we got that with the strawberry date salad and bulgar pilaf. Everything was SO SO yummy! This restaurant masterfully prepared their grilled chicken, kebab, and portions were huge. I received literally a full onion, at least one if not, two tomatoes and several pieces of perfectly prepared chicken. I also got the side of falafel with hummus. The hummus was delicious but I didn't love the falafel. Size was on the smaller side so unfortunately each of the 3 pieces were dry so next time I'd pass. We had several orders of chicken, several koobideh (ground beef), one lamb, one falafel. one salmon, and one shrimp kabobs and everything was delicious. The chicken was dry, and the date salad was missing key ingredients like the blackberries and candied walnuts that normally make it so flavorful and balanced. It is a well designed good looking restaurant but it was plenty full; in fact, there was no seating in the patio. Then again, it was a beautiful CA day with warm weather and plenty of sunshine.
