So when this this Del Mar location which opened in 2019 (first location in SD county that opened) I was so happy. this is my favorite San Diego location. The food is always on point. This is probably the best place for chicken kabobs I know of. The chicken is always cooked so well -- it comes out piping hot and so tender and juicy. So many places overcook chicken breast and it's dry. It's never dry here. My friend had the beef koobideh, and it was good as well. I also love the basmati rice. Very flavorful. And we always get the romaine avocado salad. There were just two of us, so we didn't get the family platter. But that's a great deal and we often get that when with our families. The grilled veggies were actually one of the better parts -- good seasoning, slight char, not soggy. The chicken was dryer than I remembered but still Pretty solid flavor profile. Also tried their Alfredo pasta... honestly did not expect to like it so much. It had a flavor profile that's so delicious and smacked me right in the face. Even with the linguine or whatever being overcooked it was still amazing. Overall though, it's consistent, portions are solid, and you leave full without feeling like complete garbage. I don't know how I have never been here before. The kabob is amazing. I love Persian and middle eastern cuisine and this place served it best. The service was amazing, there was plenty of seating. We came during the week for dinner and we waited about 10 minutes to be seated. We waited another 15 for our food. Everything was made fresh and served hot. It was so delicious. The rice and kabob was extremely delicious. I can't pick a favorite because both beef and chicken were amazing. I highly recommend trying this place out!! So disappointed. I've been coming here for over 11 years, and this has always been my go-to kebab place because the food has consistently been amazing. Unfortunately, today was the first time I left really disappointed. I understand prices go up, and honestly, I'm okay paying more for good food. But raising prices while also cutting the portions is really upsetting. I attached photos from before and after so people can see the difference for themselves. To clarify, I ordered both the single-skewer and double-skewer koobideh meals, and the koobideh portions in both orders were the same exact length. We've been to the Santa Ana location many times, but it was our first time here at this restaurant in Irvine. We arrived around 7 PM and got the very last table at the very end outside. I think this was the forgotten table, but it wasn't a major deal. There were heat lamps hung from the top, which were very hot. It was extremely uncomfortable for me and so I switched seats with another family member. Our server was friendly and brought us our drinks. We chose the family meal and added two beef koobideh kebabs. We also ordered the hummus trio as an appetizer. We enjoyed the smooth creamy hummus. We could've used more pita bread. But we were way out in the back corner, the forgotten table. In comparison,the portions here are smaller for the family meal from what I've had at the Santa Ana location. I usually go to the one near the Spectrum and the food is always outstanding. This place was also very busy but they were able to us down after only a few minutes waiting . We both ordered the flat iron steak kabob but I had ordered all rice instead of the salad. It was delicious as usual. The only mistake they made was they didn't put any bell pepper on my kabob, which is ok as long as they had tomatoes and onions, which are my favorite vegetables, so I didn't complain. As always, the food was great , I really love their kabobs, the taste is so authentic. But this time, I was disappointed with the service. Our server was very busy and didn't check on us the whole time, which I understand, but the hostess wasn't helpful either. When she walked by, I asked for hot sauce and she told me to ask my server. Obviously, he wasn't around for us to ask. She didn't even bother to help, so I asked another employee who finally told our server. By the time the hot sauce came, my food was almost gone. My favorite one was the edamame hummus. For the main we got the family style kabobs which came with 3 chicken skewers, 2 salads (we got the greek and romaine avocado), and rice (we got the white basmati). We also got the beef koobideh kabob plate to try, and we got that with the strawberry date salad and bulgar pilaf. Everything was SO SO yummy! If you been here for lunch you know how crazy busy this place can get. I had lunch with a friend and they brought my plate but did not bring my friend's. I waited 10-15 minutes and went up to the counter and they said things were backed up. The dish finally came but now my food was cold. I asked to speak to the manager and Sam came at the end of our meal. He came over and sincerely apologize. He asked if he could do something and I asked if he could comp a plate. He didn't hesitate and even brought some dessert. Sam is a rare breed. Kind, sincere and one who takes responsibility. Our group of 10 dined here tonight. Food was amazing and service was great. PKG serves very large portions and everything is so tasty. We had several orders of chicken, several koobideh (ground beef), one lamb, one falafel. one salmon, and one shrimp kabobs and everything was delicious. I ordered 25+ orders for a corporate customer and when I arrived, Sam , the "alleged" manager, refused to help me. I asked if he could help me identify each plate so I knew what it was (I've never eated here btw so I am unfamiliar with the menu) and he refused. He claimed he didn't know what each dish was. It is odd to think a manager doesn't know their own restaurant's menu... He suggested I take my hands and open up each sandwich / panini to identify it. I refused as I would never touch a customers' food. He said that was what the paper was for, however this didn't seem right to me. He was in over his head and busy and I can understand that. That said, he could have handled the situation in a more professional manner. The order was likely north of $600. For a "manager" to be disrespectful to a customer with that amount of sales seems like they may need some additional coaching or training. read more

This is the worst location, we really like the food but this location is consistently a problem. They have no organization, things take forever and if it's a busy time of day good luck getting sat or even having someone come by your table. I just had a to-go order that was supposed to be done at 12:30 and at 1:00 my husband is still sitting there with our 3 year old waiting. No one came over to check on the 15 people waiting for pickups and then a lady screamed at my husband when he tried to look at the names on the bags. Panini kabob grill is consistently good, and is a good balance between a bona-fide kabob place and a more general "Mediterranean" joint (you can order some salads or a pasta among other dishes). Their shish kabob is probably my favorite of the meats. It can be a little tough sometimes, but they'll adjust the amount of "done-ness" for you :) read more
