If I wrote this review solely on the first time I came here a year ago this place would've received *Zero Stars* automatically. My initial visit to Pani Dolci was terrible. The employee I encountered was extremely unprofessional and curt. I inquired about a menu being that I was new to the neighborhood. Her response was highly inappropriate that it nearly kept me away forever. I would pass by the bakery religiously and not take a second look. On Thursday, 6/18/20 I decided to stop by and instantly I was greeted with warm smiles and courteous replies. I really appreciate the warmth and professionalism I received as I perused the bakery items. I decided on a White Chocolate with Macadamia Nut Cookie, Chocolate Chip Cookie, and a Dulce De Leche Cheesecake. The Chocolate Chip Cookie was average and a tad on the crunchy side. This is definitely a top notch bakery,slash ice cream shop.you have so much pastries to choose from.today was my first day in this shop with my son and my wife. We had been by this particular shop numerous times and today we decided to go inside and check out what kind of treats this bakery had .And we were blown away . They had red velvet cake ,chiro's ,cheese cake donuts,strawberry cakes, cookies,cream puffs,cup cake,apple bread pudding. I could go on all day about the amount of pastries they had.the establishment was clean ,and the cashier was very friendly and courteous.plus the prices weren't bad for a A1 establishment like this. We had made our decision to get a dozen of double fudge cookies, that didn't disappoint at all, this bakery is definitely a queens hidden gem,right there in the heart of briarwood. I have been here a couple of times prior and it's been ok, I work for a Italian Restaurant that makes everything fresh from scratch so I know what to expect. I have purchased cakes from here before and they don't seem fresh at all, they won't last a couple of hours in the fridge without tasting off, moldy, old or watery. Today, just like 30 mins ago I purchased a slice of plain cheesecake and a brownie. I have never been so disgusted with the flavor of a cheesecake before, it tasted like when it has been so long in the fridge and it starts sucking the flavor of everything in the fridge and my brownie tasted and looked like a chunk of sand. Very hard, very grainy not a moist- gooey brownie at all.This place is definitely going downhill. Please don't sell old pastries is disgusting! read more

Not really a desserts type of person. I usually get the assorted cookies for holidays. My family likes them. My dad enjoys the cannolis and the black/white cookie. The apple pie is good. ***update on 8/9/18*** So I hadn't noticed the price changes until our next visit :( I understand small raises but it's pretty significant. I used to be sooo happy that I could get mini cannolis for .75 cents and a large for $1.50. It was such an amazing deal and for the price tasted pretty darn good. Now they've doubled in price, $1.50 and $3.00. Doubling in price hurts. It's the same cannoli, not elevated. Now it's about the same price as if you'd go to Little Italy. Also I jumped the gun on my last review. Hadn't tried the Lobster Tail yet and it wasn't too great. The filling was whipped cream (I think) and was stale. I love the renovations, but the price increases aren't justified. My husband said it best: "this bakery was great because even though it didn't have the best pastries, they were so affordable. Now it's expensive and mediocre." I wish subsequent visits were as exciting as the first. read more

This bakery is a cornerstone of the neighborhood, in my opinion. I've been going here for over a decade, and the staff has been unfailingly kind and quick to rectify any mistakes that are made. The cakes are all delicious, and I've enjoyed every other cookie and pastry I've had here. I highly recommend their black forest and their tres leches cakes. read more

I have given this place several tries but it is always disappointing with their cakes. Maybe it's the ingredients they use but some cakes shouldn't be tasting the way it does. Today, I purchased a banana mousse. It tasted alright but then it had a really strange after taste, perfume like. Then I had the mocha cake which was not edible!!! I stopped by to pick up a small cake for a gathering I was attending. Even though it was later in the afternoon, they had a variety of cakes to choose from. My cousin previously had picked up a strawberry cheesecake that everyone raved about so I went the same route. It was only $20 for a small cheesecake that was enough to serve at least 6 people. It was a solid cheesecake with lemon-y undertones. Very rich and not too sweet. My experience with Pani Dolci is limited but would definitely come back in the future to try their other pastries and cakes. read more

The workers have "attitudes" that leave much to be desired. Not incredibly friendly- but not too rude either. The pastries here, however- are WACK AF. I ONLY come here on the very rare occasion that I'm in need of sweets- and F. Hills feels like too much of a "hike". Most of the pastries look "dated"- and taste flavorless. The cakes are CLEARLY made w/o any kind of dairy ingredients. At least that's how they taste. The frosting on the cakes are overly sweet to compensate for the LACK of flavors in the actual cakes. Today is my birthday and my husband bought this cake for me from pani dolchi.. As they are the only bakery we have in our area! This cake taste like feet. My husband asked them for chocolate cake and they handed him with this cake that has only chocolate crumbs outside and inside all watery cherry frosting. It's yak. I hated it. It tasted like it spoiled or gone bad... Seriously how in the world you guys is a bakery?? If your cake is this bad, you shouldn't be in the business.. I come in everyday and get an iced coffee. I have for the past 3 years. The staff are always friendly and the store is always immaculate! The manager, Erica, is just as sweet as can be. I joke with her all the time about a lot of stuff. I swear I'm there so often I should be getting an employee discount!! Watch out though! Buying cookies and cakes can really catch up on you! I've gotten baked goods from here a few times since moving here 4 years ago. The biscotti were fine, but it's very hit or miss. Today I went in for a treat and got a turnover and an apple strudel. Why do you work there if you're not friendly, patient or pleasant. The way she handled my order, I'm sure you're losing a lot of customers. I said do you have vanilla cupcakes and with her crusty attitude she was like no we only got chocolate and Oreo. She didn't tell me when they would have vanilla or even have decent customer service skills to seem empathetic. She didn't suggest anything else and made it seem like I'm taking up her time. Briarwood's little bakery/cafe - lots of baked good options from cakes to cookies to bagels to pie to loaves of specialty bread. I think their prices are GREAT and more than fair. A small hot coffee is a $1 - a small iced coffee is $1.35 - you can't spend less than 2 anywhere else in the neighborhood for my beloved iced coffee. Their coffee is soooooooooo good too- I'm so glad I finally tried it and now I'm hooked. Please take my advice and get your coffee here over the poorly run Dunkins a block away. I wish they'd do a renovation on this place- it has so much potential. I always notice people sitting in the very minimal seating area up front either catching up with a friend, reading the paper or just enjoying a cup of coffee/baked good before work. This business looks old and feels old- Briarwood needs something modern and this could definitely be it. A trendy little bakery/coffee shop- wifi, comfy seating and more flare. I loved their iced coffee and pastries. I was sad that they were closed for months for renovation. When they opened I was so excited to come in. The place was pretty and it looks like they tried to look like they're instagram worthy, good for them.. I looked at the menu and was disappointed... the iced coffee price went up actually everything went up. But i know the coffee was worth it so i still bought some. However, it was just another disappoinment.. the coffee doesn't taste the same as it did before.. The only thing that didn't change was the slow service lol. Id assume the service will be faster since adding sugar and milk is self serve now but i was wrong hahaha. Anyway, i dont think the price change was worth it or the renovations.. i guess theyre just trying to pay for their renovations.. Had the napoleon and fruit tart. They use a lot of cream in the napoleon. I was expecting more flaky layers, the cream was good though. The fruit tart used a different cream that wasn't as good. They should use the cream that they use for the napoleon. Staff was friendly though! read more
