4.4 stars. It would be easy to miss this place tucked in the back corner of a huge plaza. Not a lot of character to the building outside but inside has a great vibe. This is a wonderful cozy place. We (my husband and I) come for the bread once a week. Sometimes for a pastry or for soup. We are from Europe but live here in Prescott. The products are very good but we also appreciate the staff. They are young and very polite and always helpful. I also admire the decor. I was really looking forward to trying their sandwiches since I see the good reviews but I found it disappointing. Looks like it was left in the grill too long and it made the bread tough. So little pastrami that I couldn't taste it over the taste of the sauerkraut. And as you can see in the pic, the portion size was also a disappointment. Horrible interaction with the owner after bringing up a complaint. My mom went to pick up lunch and I told her my usual order. I overheard the manager speaking very rudely to my mom so I called later and tried getting in touch with the owner to let them know. I understand things can be overwhelming when understaffed but sheesh, the owner was very combative and defensive immediately when I asked for the owner. I was just trying to make them aware of something the staff had done and I didn't approach with anything but respect. I understand people have bad days but I will no longer be supporting them. I usually come in weekly for my whole family but after being received this way I will absolutely not be back. A shame the way they handled one simple order modification (which was to take bread off a sandwich for someone gluten free) turned into them shooting themselves in the foot. read more

Just had a stressful and difficult experience at this establishment. Went in to get a to go order for my very busy family who are regular customers. Attempted to order the usual bread on the side sandwich for my GF daughter and was met with a rigid wall of 'we cannot do that' from the woman at the register. I let her know my daughter is a regular and this is her regular order. She rudely informed me that it was an impossible order and that she had been the "manager" there for over a year! I got my daughter on the phone so to clarify the order. Manager lady got more rigid. Luckily her staff showed up with clarity and kindness and delivered the very simple order. Finally found me a deli and a good one at that! My heart is smiling right now. This was our first time here and we will be coming back for sure! Both my husband and I grabbed the recommended Italian sub and we were not disappointed at all. This specific sandwich and a couple other choices, we're available in a refrigerator for customers to grab on their own, but customers can also order at the counter. Sandwich was fresh and had plenty of meat. It is something that we could have actually shared one of, because of the size and all the fixings. Bread was fresh and crispy as a baguette should always be and I fell in love! I'm definitely a sucker for a great tasting baguette and this is where they got me... Location is definitely a bakery and the aroma of baked goods fills the air as you walk in. They have an assortment of Italian grocery items along with some fresh produce options. It's a very quaint and well-stocked hidden gem in Prescott that I highly recommend. Service was fantastic and quick. I favorably reviewed Pangaea a couple years ago. However times have changed. Prices are way up. That's not the problem. Problem is the filling in the sandwiches have shrunk to nothing. If you need to reduce size shrink the bread. Instead of your wonderful chicken salad a bite of bread and lettuce is not worth your prices. Pangea has a nice selection of coffees, breads, pastries, including some gluten free, plus prepared food items like imported pasta and even a few fresh vegetables. There is a small outdoor patio that has shade, though not a lot of atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable. I had a gluten free carrot cake, the cake was good, very dense and fruity, though there was way too much frosting for my tastes - probably great for kids with a sweet tooth. High quality but WAY overpriced (about double or more than other vendors in the area). Seriously , over $42 for a pie (plus tax), which they claim uses only fresh fruit, but how would anyone know? Bought their sourdough boule/loaf and it was quite underwhelming. Had virtually no sourdough taste at all and the crust was tough as leather. Never again. For reference, bought a boule of sourdough the previous weekend at the Prescott Farmers Market and it was SPOT ON! AND, and this is a BIG "and" the young women who run the counter are quite rude. My recommendation is to take your business elsewhere. Prescott doesn't need this kind of business. read more

I HOPE THE OWNER OR MANAGER READS THIS!!!! I moved to Prescott from NY 2.5 years ago and until 6 months ago I was a regular at Pangaeo, 2x a week despite the very high prices. The products were good, but the service drove me away. I went back yesterday to give it another try and the servicer was actually nasty to me when I asked about pre-ordering! Then they wanted a tip?? At best the service at Pangaea was terse, NEVER nice and frequently the servers were downright rude. I am a New Yorker born and bread, and I have a high tolerance for people who are gruff, curt and even rude. So for me to complain you need to really try and be rude. I would buy their cheese, pastries and other products and frequently spend more than $100 and always leave a 20% tip. If I asked the server a simple question about the bread or pastry, they would often sigh, roll their eyes and sometimes get nasty - like the nerve of me to ask a question. read more
