In addition to being my first visit to the Civic Centre location, today was also my first day at a new job! I woke up feeling so unnerved, so I decided to treat myself to Panera. Upon approaching Panera this morning, I noticed there was a line. As I patiently waited, I began to notice that customers at the speaker were having a hard time conveying their orders to the employees in the building. Once it was my turn at the speaker box though, I started to feel the frustration that each car in front of me had been feeling for the last ten minutes. Wowzers, this location really needs to call a mechanic to take a look at their speaker box. It's definitely broke. The employee greeted me and asked me for my order. I said, "Hello! I'd like a Cinnamon Crunch bagel and a Chocolate Chip Bagel, please. Could you please toast them? I'd also like a bowl of plain cream cheese! And.. that's all!" The employee responded, "Okay, I heard you say a Cinnamon Crunch Bagel. Anything else for you?" In disbelief about what the employee didn't hear me say, I repeated my order in a very calm manner. The employee responded, "We are out of the chocolate chip bagel. Is there another kind you'd like?" I asked the employee to read off what they had at that point in time. She started listing the kinds and I chose to substitute the chocolate chip for an everything. I saw the screen and asked the employee, "Please lightly toast the bagels and I'll also need a bowl of plain cream cheese!" Her response was, "Would you like me to slice the bagels?" Annoyed, but without saying anything in response, I drove up to the window because she was clearly not picking up what I was putting down, even though I was speaking loudly and clearly. I thought to myself, she must not be able to hear me because how would she toast the bagel if she didn't slice it first? I drove around the corner and loandbehold there was the car that was ahead of me, waiting for their food at the window. This is where the plot twists, however. I am used to food service employees being friendly and personable. I'm sure I wasn't the first customer to pull up to the window to place my order rather than try to place it at the speaker this morning. In high school I worked for a small coffee shop and if customers had issues at the speaker, or if they were Deaf or Hard of Hearing, they would simply just pass by the speaker and place their order at the window. I didn't think anything of it until my interaction with the woman at the window. Once the vehicle in front of me pulled away, I drove up and politely said to the employee, "I'm sorry, I couldn't hear what you were saying, so I'd like to place my order here." The employees response absolutely baffled me to the point of disgust. She stated in the most offensive, ill-mannered and condescending tone of voice you could fathom, "That wasn't me that you were speaking to". Then continued to blankly stare at me as if I had somehow offended HER. From my point of view, she was the employee at the window, so presuming that she was also the person I was speaking to didn't seem too far fetched to me. In complete and utter disbelief and just completely taken aback about how the window employee just spoke to me, I stated, "Never mind, just forget it.", as I drove away. The buck didn't stop there though! The disgruntled window employee stuck her head out of the window and voiced a long, "Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee", as I pulled away. I couldn't believe what I just witnessed and heard. Shaking, frazzled and astonished that a food service employee, on a Saturday morning, would verbally jibe and taunt a customer just looking to get some food in their belly is mind boggling. As I sat in my car, I thought to myself, I need to let the manager of this establishment know how their window employee is treating their customers! I didn't do it for myself, I definitely didn't do it for this store, I did it for the awesome Panera workers who bust their butts day in and day out to provide the utmost best customer service to the their guests as possible. As I frantically called the store, with my hands shaking and tears in my eyes, I ended up speaking with the morning manager. She politely spoke to me about what I experienced and offered me her full attention. She expressed apology on behalf of her establishment and suggested that if I came in, she would personally help me in placing my order. Respectfully, I told her, "I was on my way to work and didn't have the time, but would stop in later or another time." As I drove to work, I felt so emotionally down to the heel, that I nervously bit my fingernail until it bled. I have nothing against Panera as a corporation, but after my visit to the Civic Centre Panera this morning, I will absolutely never again visit this Panera location, which sucks because I love my bagel and cream cheese. It goes to show how one bad apple ruins the bunch. read more

Panera Bread - Sandwiches Near Me - West Chester, Ohio

I placed a rapid to go order on my lunch break from work; I went to go pick it up and noticed that there was no order on the rack. When I asked someone about it I was instructed that they would figure out what was going on and then I waited 15 minutes and someone handed me a bag and I left. I was in such a hurry to get back to work I didn't even look in the bag or think about the drink I had already prepaid. When you do a rapid to go order you have to pre pay online, which I did. When I got to work and opened up the bag all that was inside was a sandwich, salad, and bag of chips. My sandwich was made incorrectly, I did not receive the chocolate chip cookie, or the large lemonade that I ordered and paid for! I will never go to this Panera again! Horrible service! There are so many other good restaurants around there! As well as so many better Panera restaurants around the city! read more

I prolly hit this place on a bad day. Started out with a 12-15 minute wait. When finally waited on never a smile or thank you. Ok maybe someone didn't show up or called in sick but a smile and thank you takes a nano second. we were not offered choice of apple or bread. She just assumed that's what we wanted and announced that when she reviewed our order. I asked for a pecan roll for additional.99 and she told me bluntly they don't carry those anymore. We asked for a cookie instead. Curtly: what kind? Chocolate chip. We're out of those. I asked for butter for my baguette-- at least the young preparer said sorry we're out of butter. If you're going to serve tasteless, salt less bread you should at least have some butter to add some flavor. Tables were all crumby but that's par for Panera. read more

Chains are not a high priority for review. No matter which location you go, the food is always the same. So, with that being said, the only reasons to have a location preference are the personalities of the employees and feel of the store. I gotta say this particular location has rubbed me raw on multiple occasions. I have no problems ordering bread IN ADVANCE at any other store. It's like they don't want bread business. Today is Friday, at 3:30, and I just called to order bread for Sunday. Nope, it can't be done. We need 3 days. Hmmm, Friday 1, Saturday 2, Sunday 3. Wow, I can count! How about that! I have had other irritating experiences with employee personalities at this location as well. My mojo is all out of whack here. This location is going down hill in terms of quality of food. Not only that, for my (final) visit today, I waited in the drive-thru for 25 minutes. There were only 3 customers total. Then, the salad was old with some parts rusty red. Which means it's bad. I had to ask 2x for my drink. The bacon was hard as rocks. I mean, dang. This Panera both holds with the brand standards and doesn't. The food is always fresh and delicious, the dining room is clean and in good condition, and the place runs efficiently. Unfortunately I always seem to end up ordering from the lady that drinks vinegar for breakfast. She always toes the line between brisk and rude. She is a sharp contrast to the many smiling teenagers around her who greet customers and exchange pleasantries. Their fast pick-up is also very well run, they are always early to put it out in case I am running early. read more

Food was prepared quickly, but the service was HORRIBLE! Went to order a Cuban and was told they were out of pork for the sandwich, which I know happens. But it was the way the cashier said it. If I could give them a negative star I would. I ordered a grilled cheese combo with broccoli cheddar soup. The soup was like warm at best and to make matters worse the grilled cheese didn't even taste or feel grilled! My grilled cheese was so cold that it tasted like I was eating a cheese sandwich that sat in someone's back pocket! I use to eat at Panera once a week but their quality has gone down hill! I sent an email about my experience and never heard back!! This is literally the worst panera I've ever been to. If you are going to have a drive thru, you need to be equipped to handle one. It should not take over 15 mins to get a salad when there are only three people in the drive thru. Also, when you finally do get your salad and drive back to work to eat it, you shouldn't find that they forgot to give you dressing. Also, when you call them to inform them of your displeasure, and they say they will be by in 10 mins to drop the dressing off to you, I shouldn't still be looking at my wilting salad an hour later still waiting for them to show up. I've been to Panera locations in multiple states and unfortunately this local store is the most lackluster operation of any I've visited. Last weekend my family was craving soup so off we went. The cashier was jovial and helpful but things tapered off after that... Two people in my party ordered the creamy chicken and rice soup and I ordered the turkey chili. All three of our soups were a smidgen above room temperature. While my turkey chili was colorful with its red base and a few different types of beans, I was honestly concerned about food safety because of its temperature. When I mentioned it to my family members which regularly eat soup there they said they've only once gotten hot soup. Inside the service is usually great. The drive thru needs improvement. There is a young lady working drive thru today, 7/29 at 1:27 pm who took my order, she rushed me the entire time asking "is that it?" and I kept saying no and proceeded with me order. We visit this store 2-3 times a month. We were just there and I had a pick two. I ask for a bowl of chili, but when we got home it was a cup. Don't get me wrong. My 2 star rating is not indicative of my whole opinion of Panera... just this one, on this particular occasion. I have to been to this Panera location multiple times. And, by multiple, I mean at least 100. Mostly for client meetings. Which, I have to admit despite my most recent visit, is a great place to hold such meetings. It's a great location, the service is usually wonderful and they usually get my order right. However, this last time, my order was wrong and the service to correct it was absent, to say the least. I arrived early to be ready for my meeting. Since, I have been Java free since May 3, I have acquired a new vice to get me through... tea. So, I walk up to the seemingly sweet lady behind the counter and placed my order for a chai tea. I gave her my credit card, paid and window shopped the pastries while I waited. Not long after, she handed me my tea and I noticed it had froth. Um... chai tea, does not have froth. I know, because I drink it every morning- since May 3. So, I asked the seemingly sweet lady if she made me something other than tea. She replied with, "we don't have tea, so I made you a chai tea latte." Hmmm, well, I've been in customer service my entire adult life and I'm pretty sure that if you don't have what the customer asks for you let them know that. You don't take it upon yourself to choose the next item on the menu that most resembles the one you ordered! I reminded her, kindly I swear, that I didn't order a latte. And, I swear, she just stood there and looked at me. We were now in an official staring contest. I'm in sales, so I know the first person who speaks loses, but while I concentrated on the hazel colored irises of the seemingly sweet barista, I remembered why I was there and didn't want my potential new client walking in on my staring contest over a chai tea latte. So, I did what my father always taught me to do... "finish it with class." I smiled, said thank you and walked away. I continue to be impressed by this Panera in my own neighborhood. The location is clean, the staff is helpful. They have a drive through which is a relative novelty for most Panera's, and I really like this option when I'm pooped at the end of a work day. Once they messed up my order through drive through but then they made it right by quickly making the right order, and letting me keep the other order, and voiding my bill making it all free. All humans make errors, their philosophy of making it right makes this location stand out. As far as Panera's go, this locale is as good as it gets. read more

AVOID this location at all costs. The food you get inside vs the drive-thru is never the same. I've gotten expired hard cheese with mold, a breakfast sandwhich with the egg literally COATED entirely in pepper, ham with green slime, etc. I go could on about getting rye bread instead of white. I usually like Panera but this location sucks. The past two times we've had issues. The first time they didn't give any of the sides for our food and the second time they gave the wrong soup. We called to let them know and they said to come pick up the right soup and hung up. Finally got the soup and it wasn't hot. No apology for their inconvenience. The staff at this Panera are super disappointing. I just had breakfast at this location and I can't believe the way I was treated. The cashier was very rude while I was ordering. She acted as if I was ridiculous for ordering a "craft your own" breakfast sandwich. She stared at me with such an attitude that I almost decided to walk out. As I was waiting for my food, I asked for a smoothie straw (bc every time I've ever ordered a smoothie, Panera has had the big smoothie straws). When one worker went to go get me a straw, another worker yelled at him and told his that I (the customer) should go get one myself. The service was extremely slow. When I finally got my food, it was missing the sauce I had ordered. I asked for a side of the sauce and I got a very disgusted attitude for asking for this. They made me feel like I was seriously inconveniencing them even though I was the only one in the restaurant. On top of the slow service (they weren't even busy- I was the only customer) my sandwich was burnt. I'm super disappointed in the customer service here. read more

West Chester Civic Centre Location: I ordered online for a rapid pickup an hour before the pickup time. This is twice they have shorted us soup. The first time we returned to pick up the two missing bowls of soup. Yesterday I called after our lunch about the missing bowl of soup. I spoke with a manager who said I could come back and pick it up. Really do they think you can leave work to picking up missing items.
