Now all the bad ratings make sense. I got my sip club strawberry basil lemonade here today and it's the worst one I've ever had. I think they water down their lemonade because even after I asked for more puree, it still tasted barely sweet. I drank some down and added some lemonade from the drink stand, and it didn't help. Used to like Panera's years ago. Would go there after school with the little ones. Value and food were good. Stopped going there about 6 or so years ago as it got to pricey. The food was not worth it. We stopped by the other day as we wanted to try their new Panera's Ciabatta Dippers as they looked good. Huge disappointment. It's ok if you like ciabatta bread, but if you want some MEAT with the bread, it is almost non existenr! A few cheap pieces. Like I said bread is good, but not worth the money. I walked in to place an order and Beverlin was on her phone behind me came in an order Caucasian couple which is when she then decided to get off her phone and wait on them. As I saw her walk over to the pastries I then said I'd like a chocolate chip cook and to that she just nodded her head and focused her attention back onto the older Caucasian couple. She took their orders then walked back over to the register to ring them up. Once they were finished she walked back over to the pastries to grab my cookie and ring me up. I stated "I could've sworn I walked in first" of course she didn't acknowledge that either. I then asked for her name paid for my order and left. This place meets expectations for a cafe/lunch place. The staff was trying really hard to make sure everything is good. My biggest complain is for how you pick up your hot food. I had few plates to pick up. I had to make 2 trips to carry them. When I was walking for my 2nd trip, someone else stole my plate. Since it is not my business to confront the thief, I had to explain in nice terms that my dish disappeared. They looked at me with suspicion then one of them said sure we'll make another one. Leaving plates loosely for pick-up is not an option anymore in today's Boston. This happened to me twice in Panera. You have to find a safer (for everyone) way to deliver the food to the right person. Otherwise you will encourage wrong people to hang out in your restaurant. read more

I love Panera and I loved the salad I ate just before running off to catch my flight at the airport. This review comes with a HUGE "but"... We went to our table and were waiting - we grabbed a table which was empty and mildly ok - the restaurant actually just seemed very dirty. There was a sweet lady who came over and started cleaning our table but honestly it was like she was pushing the dirt around and then she lingered a really long time and kept coming over to the table which was sweet but...I think she had had an accident because she smelled very strongly like feces...I am not kidding. You try to call their third party delivery app which is Doordash and still nothing. So then you're left waiting for 30 mins, no food for lunch and the having to go back to work while also having them charge your card. Never again. The worst service I've ever experienced. Despite all the negative reviews, we decided to order our breakfast sandwiches from here anyway because of convenience. We were NOT disappointed! We ordered online for pickup. 3 different breakfast sandwiches, no special customized preferences. We showed up at the designated time. Our bag was the only one in the pick up area. The sandwiches were delicious. Fresh brioche bread. Healthy serving of eggs and cheese and bacon or sausage. Still hot, and packaged with extra napkins. Visited this Panera Bread Resturant during lunch time. I felt fir the workers, it was a little chaotic. 2 of us had our dine-in orders lost, and waited a bit. The manager, Terry, came out to check in with me and said he would remake the lost order himself. I asked him to make it to go as the wait made me unable to remain a dine-in. The wait for Terry to re make my order was short. He apologized profusely and offered a baked cinnamon roll complimentary. I left rushed, but not unhappy. The Food Manager Sonia has the patience of a saint. Very sweet and service oriented, while Door Dash has ruined her store. She takes way too many hits for the terrible actions of Door Dash. Our order was delivered with the safety seal ripped open by the driver who then stole some of the food (he even sent the photo with the open bag). Sonia was so quick to help but clearly that's not her fault. Door Dash REFUSED to take any responsibility whatsoever. Don't order delivery, just pick up from this store. read more

I'd recommend using the kiosk to order your meal. The person who took my order got literally everything wrong. The kitchen made exactly what got ordered, but it bore no resemblance to what I asked for. I wanted soup in a bread bowl. We had an exhausting conversation about the bowl so I was shocked when there was no bread bowl. I verified that none was requested on my behalf. I also got a salad and it came with no dressing. There's no sign that says dressings are extra. The description includes the dressing. It should have included the dressing. I was very disappointed. read more

I'm glad I didn't see the prior reviews for this location, and just stumbled in for a takeout order. then again I went directly at the kiosk even when there was no line. It wasn't a busy time being the later morning on a weekday. I love the how the Panera digital menu is designed to be allergy friendly, flagging items as you order and customize it. Other restaurants should follow suit because it's so easy. I took the one star off because the bread that was part of the allergy order was placed in the wrong bag with the other order that has allergens. Their quality standards have gone way down hill and the food is just not worth the price or the wait in the awful long lines contained in their restaurants. This location is horrible and is consistently slow service. We ordered lunch for our local Waltham office and the assorted sandwiches we ordered were terrible. We ended up trashing most of them due to nasty taste and fatty chicken, brown lettuce and rock hard bread. The cookies were even rock hard and inedible. The service is really nice but rarely do I ever get anything correct on my orders. I usually do rapid pickup mobile ordering if I need to just grab and go but like I said even with that my orders get messed up. I get a baguette when I asked for chips. Another time they gave me someone else's sandwich, another time they forgot to include my ice chai latte. I've eaten there once or twice and it is pretty gross in there. There were fruit flies flying around my table while I was eating with my kids. So I was always watching to make sure they didn't land on their plates. I've been to this Panera many times and almost every single time my order is wrong. I've worked for Panera and so I like the change the regular items a little. I cannot eat tomatoes and I ask for them off and I'll ask for extra olives or something. If you change the regular menu items, they don't care and make it the same as regular. I have spoken with the manager several times. Whenever he is there, he fixes the problem and goes above and beyond to make me happy which is why I have returned again. Today I'm over it!!! I ordered ahead on the app. My sandwich and salad had tomatoes on them both and when I asked them to remake it, it was difficult to get someone's attention behind the counter (though there were several employees dodging me eye contact). Finally I told them I didn't have time to wait for them to remake the whole meal, I ordered ahead to save time! Then when I asked for my money back, I was asked to see my card. I had not brought in my wallet since I was just supposed to be picking it up and I used my app to pay. I will start this review by saying that I have tried all of the local Panera bread by Watertown Waltham in Newton. My wife and I will always go to this location because all of the other ones will consistently mess up our order, over 50% of the time. We have been using this location for a few years now and today was the day it finally happened, our consistent go to location finally messed up our order. I called the restaurant to speak with a manager regarding this and was greeted by Mike. Mike answered me with a happy greeting, and I informed him what happened. Mike immediately apologized for the mishap and was quick to resolve the issue. He wanted to have his delivery man bring us out our food but was upfront and honest about the fact that the delivery person had just left with multiple orders and it would take quite some time. He immediately refunded the entire order and asked if I would like for the food to be delivered or if I wanted to pick up the food that was missing along with multiple pastry items as an apology. I understand mistakes happen. We choose this Panera because these mistakes happen almost never and the way Mike handled the first situation today that I have had with this location is the reason why I will continue to come to this location. read more

I hated to write this review but it is necessary. I dislike reviews that start with "been going here for years, never had a problem until now". This review is based on over a dozen visits during the last few months. I visited this location at least twice a week for six months before my employment took me out of the area and I never had a problem. Back working in Waltham and I was looking forward to my twice weekly visits. One day for a bagel and cream cheese and the other for a breakfast sandwich. Prior to my four month absence, I recall always getting good service both at the counter and picking up my food. Now the counter service is awful. I am always there early, like before 6:30 so there is never a line. That being said, the person that works the front counter now has never been friendly and with every visit seemed more put off with the fact that I wanted him to take my order vs. me using the self service kiosk. The final nail in the coffin was last Wednesday when he flat out refused to take my order and stated "Panera would prefer customers use the self service kiosk's" He literally came from behind the counter to direct me to the kiosk. After 5 minutes of him not even being able to put my order in, (please note I always get the same thing and he knows what I want and has never had a problem entering my order), I said F this and I left. It's a bummer because I like the bagels and breakfast sandwiches, the woman that prepared my food always did it perfectly, and with a warm good morning, but clearly my business is not welcome here. I work in professional sales for a company located in Waltham the grosses over a half billion dollars a year. Dealing with people face to face is what I do. I went to this Panera on my lunch brake. I was the only person in line and stood there over 5 minutes as the women made fruit salad never looking up. A manager came from the back grabbed a bag of cookies right in front of me didnt ask if i need help or i was all set. I finally yelled "CAN I GET SOME HELP HERE". SAVE TIME AND SANITY... Go to the other Panera in Waltham (The Lexington Street location) NOT THIS ONE. It's never good when the Manager says"I'm really sorry, I don't have an excuse" I ordered catering for a meeting at my office. After it was 10 minutes late being delivered, I tried to call them. The phone rang and rang and just kept getting bounced back to the main menu. I tried to call consistently for 20 minutes. At this point the delivery was late by 45 minutes. My team was hungry so we had to order from another restaurant. Once the second place had delivered, I got in the car and drove to the Panera. I asked to speak to a manager. One came out. I explained that our catering never showed up, that I couldn't even call them and that we should have received and update if there was a problem. He said "Yes, all of that should have happened. I don't know why it didn't. I never heard the phone ring (incessantly for 30 minutes) and I don't know what happened to the order. I'm sorry but I don't have an excuse or reason for you" He at least agreed to credit the order. And I got confirmation that it was credited.... so that's good. When I returned to my office, a full 2 hours after the original deliver time, the order showed up. And it was all wrong. We ordered boxed lunches with salads. All different. We ended up with the same two varieties in all the boxes. Some were missing components like the sides and dessert. This seems like a place on desperate need of good Management. Or the management doesn't really care. Based on the consistent bad reviews I think it's the latter. read more

I'm so disappointed in Panera. I did curbside pickup here and while I was waiting in my car I noticed customers coming in and out not wearing masks. Actually I didn't see a single person go in there with a mask and they were pretty busy. Then when the employee brought me my food he wasn't wearing a mask or gloves. At that point I didn't even want my food but felt like it was too late so I took the food but never ate it. I can't believe employees in a restaurant aren't wearing masks or gloves during the peak of the coronavirus. Every other restaurant I have been to the staff has been wearing masks. I live around the corner from this Panera location and while I'm not a huge fan of the chain in general, I do appreciate having such an establishment nearby for an easy breakfast. That being said, this establishment is pretty infamous. A lot of locals call it the "special" Panera because of how consistently bad the service is. How special is it? Bad enough to the point where they're consistently very lazy, argumentative with patrons and consistently screw up orders. The layout of the place also doesn't make much sense and they split up the coffee and ice tea station with half of it at the front, the other half in the back. Why in the world would you do that? The only upside? Easy parking and outdoor seating... but that's about it. Service is slow and the numerous Dunkin Donuts location in Waltham are lightyears better than anything you'd get here, especially for breakfast. I recommend staying away until they improve with new management and get their shit together read more
