This was the worst experience I've ever had at Panera. The drive thru clerk was rude and not very attentive. We waited at least 10-15 minutes for half portions of food. Not once did the drive thru associate check in with us, to excuse the wait time. She didn't speak, just told us the price of everything and handed off the food once it was completed. After receiving everything, we were provided spoons to eat our salads, three rolls of hardened bread, a burned grill cheese, and a tuna sandwich where the tuna was only on the half on the sandwich (poorly prepared). This Panera has deserved 1-2 stars at best since they opened. Today was the last straw as they turned one of my favorite sandwiches into one that I will never order again. Waiting in the drive through for 10 min when we're the only car was one thing. However when I opened my Mediterranean Veggie sandwich it was nothing but disappointment. The entire sandwich was soggy and it was dripping with hummus. There was no other taste to the sandwich other than the hummus. I asked for no onions and got onions. I don't leave a lot of reviews. This one is warranted. This Panera is putting a bad face on them all and I LOVE PANERA! The manager has no motivation or sense of service. Her poor team was running around trying to gain control while she stood there, literally in their way. She refused to leave the counter to look for an upset customer and apologize. I had to tell the ladies that she was looking for them so they could get their food after an HOUR....at Panera. An HOUR to put soup in a bread bowl!!!!! My wife and I were at Panera Bread on May 30th at 1:15 PM @ your Cafe 4029 location in Tinley Park. Order was placed and everything seemed fine at first. Well... This was were things started going bad! 1) There were employees running in and out of the facility like 10 yr. old kids at playground / screwing around 2) There was 1 girl, off shift, just standing around the pickup area talking with fellow employees about how she does things at work and how the "new" employees aren't as good as her. Fine... 1 and 2 happen everywhere at every store and restaurant Well... 3) My buzzer goes off after 5-6 minutes that my food is ready. Well, that's not true at all. I go to the counter to pickup our food and my order is not ready. When I ask, the girl standing behind the counter says it's not ready yet and will be a couple of minutes. Then she starts questioning me what I even ordered in the first place. I tell her and she starts yelling out to 3 other employees where the specific items are and not 1 of them have any idea. Even though my buzzer goes off that my order is ready... 3 people in front of me are still waiting for there orders. 4) Another 10 minutes goes by and my wife is now mad / wondering what's going on here? I ask, "Where is my order?"Half of it is sitting here and the other half is stilling missing. I get questioned again what are you missing? I tell the girl again what is missing. We still have to heat up your chicken tort alfredo? WHAT??? I question her on why is it taking so long? She interrupts me and tells me I can give you 2 FREE bakery items. UMM... No I kinda want my food I ordered 15 minutes ago. 5) Food is giving to me now about 4 minutes later. NOTE... 20 minutes have now gone by. My French Onion soup is nothing more than liquid broth. That was a waste of $4.39. I ordered Tomato & Mozzarella Flatbread and received tomato flatbread with no cheese. I've reached that point of... I'm not even going to bother telling them this. 6) After all of this... I bring the food to my wife at the booth and find out. I HAVE BEEN GIVING NO SILVERWARE for my soup. I go back to the counter again and ask can I have 2 spoons? I'm knowing questioned why I need them? SERIOUSLY!?!? 7) I'm not the only one this happened to this day. The 45 minutes my wife and I were in there.... EVERY CUSTOMER after us had the same issue. Not 1 of your 6 employees on shift at the time had any idea what was going on. We heard everything from social media gossip between your employees to the Supervisor on duty at the time had no idea where 2 of the employees were at. 8) Your Manager of the location is something else as well. During all these issues going on with your customers he's doing nothing about it. He looks over at the counter when customers were getting mad and walked into the back and hid. 8a) While all of this happening... He finds that it must be the smart thing to do to personally seat certain customers (who come in 10 minutes later than everybody else who is having issues) and take their order at the table, personally serve them in 2-3 minutes, get their drinks for them and to make it even better... Come back to them after 4 minutes and ask if everything is made to their liking like at your everyday restaurant. Come on... There's a line of 5-10 angry customers waiting for 15-30 minutes and you have the nerve to do that? I've been to Panera Bread many times, many locations and never experienced such horrible service. It felt like I was at Burger King/Wendy's. In other words, waiting for food in a dump! Never again will I enter this Panera Bread location. The staff is downright horrible. read more

Well, I can't say I didn't expect this location to have such a low rating. The experience, not much different. I AM ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED WITH PANERA BREAD! My mouth waters even while I'm pretty ticked at this locations (mis)management. My time is limited, I don't have free time to sit around and wait for food to be prepared which is why I usually and unfortunately go for Fast (fat) Food. Recently, I was happy to see that a new Panera Bread opened up AND they just launched their new rapid online order pickup. The first time, it was a breeze. I walked in, and the order was sitting there waiting. Grabbed it, and went! It was awesome, great food, no wait-- win/win. The second time, not so good. I walk in, look for my order. No order. I ask the girl at the counter and shes like "online what?". Seriously? She was polite, and I can't foul her for not being trained properly. They didn't even start the order. I had a window of about 20 minutes to grab the food, drive home, stuff it down my throat, and get on a conference call. Since I had to sit and wait, that ate up my of my time. Since I was now running late, I didn't check the bag to make sure they didn't mess it up a second time. Surprise surprise, they messed up and gave me the wrong order and I was already home. I e-mail customer service, and I am promised a phone call and resolution from the franchise owner. That was almost two weeks ago. No call. Corporate stepped up, and told me they were sending me an e-gift card. While I was waiting for the gift card.. and all that Panera talk-- I wanted Panera AGAIN! The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result? I'm insane. Same situation, I walk in, no order, the girl at the counter seems semi-clueless.. but a bit less clueless than the first time. It took about 2-3 minutes for them to throw the order together. Even though the order was due at 7:30. Moral of the story, not all Panera Bread's are created equally. How disappointed am I in Panera? Disappointed enough that my company will never order lunch there again. IF YOU ARE A BUSINESS, DO NOT ORDER FROM PANERA!!! Here was the situation: I had to order lunch for my company for us to eat on a bus. We booked a boat cruise, and didn't want to be late, but didn't want to close down the office earlier than we had to. (Our foundation focuses on stewardship and efficiency.) What is better than sandwiches! Easily edible and Panera always has good "bang for buck!" Little did I know that stewardship and efficiency aren't as important to them as it is to us. I placed an order online for my company. 15 lunches in total to be ready at 11:50am the next day. Plenty of time to get the order ready. But alas, because of our foundation's non-profit status, we are tax-exempt and the online order function doesn't allow for this. "No problem!" I thought in my naivety. I'll just fax in our tax-exempt letter, like I do with most businesses. I called the location to double-check on this process, but alas, this process was incorrect. The manager who answered my phone call, said I had to cancel my online order (which took a quite a few minutes out of my workday), and give her the information over the phone. She was polite enough, and stayed on the phone with me while I cancelled the online order. Over the telephone, I read her the exact order for our 15 lunches. She read them back to me to check if they were correct. When I asked about a total, she had only hand-written them down, along with my credit card information, instead of putting them into the register. "Okay..." I said hesitantly. "As long as they will be ready for pick-up at 11:50am with our names marked on them, it will be fine." She assured me it will, and as long as I bring a copy of our tax-exempt letter for their records, everything will be ready! No it wasn't. The next day, I go to pick-up our lunch order, and it isn't ready. It isn't ready at all. 8 of the 15 sandwiches haven't even been made and it's 11:50am. Alright... "It will only be a few minutes," I was told. I am visibly shaken at this point, and a cashier offered me something to drink. No thank you. You see, I had a million things running through my mind. "If our lunches are late, I will hit lunch-time traffic! If I'm late with the sandwiches, the bus will be late! If the bus is late, we will miss our boat tour!" What should have been a relaxing day on the clear waters of Lake Michigan was soured. So I waited. And waited. As the minutes ticked by, I watched the Panera team assemble our sandwiches. It could have been my state of mind, but not only were they not moving fast, they were filling other orders. "Business cannot stop for me," I told myself. More time went by. I looked at my watch- it was 12:05. 15 minutes after I arrived and when the lunches should have been ready. When I spoke with the manager again, she assured me that it would only be "25 seconds." Her assurance meant nothing to me at this point. After another 5 minutes, everything was ready. They apologized, handed me my receipt, and offered to help me to the car. "I'm sorry, too" was all I could mutter. 20 minutes after our order was supposed to be ready and all I got was an "I'm sorry" and a $10 voucher "for my next visit." (There won't be a "next visit" so this is useless.) Of course I hit lunch-time traffic. Of course I was late getting to the office. Thank goodness my coworkers remained calm when I flew into the office like a chicken with her head cut-off. Keep in mind, however, they had not just been waiting idly by for 20 minutes... She was cold, not friendly and didn't stop what she was doing for a solid minute or two to help me. Acted like I inconvenienced her to grab 4 plain bagels. Rolled her eyes, wouldn't look at me. The attitude, and horrible vibe she had is reason enough why you should have never hired her in the first place. Panera don't you have a customer service training program? The food always tastes good. The cookies are amazing but almost 400 calories. Whenever I ask for a sandwich without onions; I get an annoyed remark saying, "We don't put onions on" well I didn't say, "no onions" this time, and here is a picture of the onions on the sandwich. Nasty. Also Please make the drive through even more complicated. Maybe we should drive in reverse and throw the food at us while we drive "thru". This is the worst Panera bread I have been to in the entire country. I travel for a living and eat at Panera bread's on a regular basis. I have never encountered a store like this one. Would recommend visiting other establishments that are right next-door. I ordered soup and was told at the counter that they did not have any silverware to use with the soup. They did not offer any other options. One of the worst dining experiences I have experienced and I have been to Golden Corral. While the ordering process went well, the experience went downhill shortly thereafter. We were in a hurry and wound up waiting over 25 minutes for two soup/salad and half sandwich orders. Other patrons who came in after us were served beforehand and once we finally received our order, the soup was lukewarm and tasted awful.
