It's okay. Definitely the quantity does not match the cost. The quality.... It's ok. They have a big amount of soups that gets reheated. The salad here is fresher and not wilted like the Freehold & Manalapan locations. I personally saw them throw out food if the food didn't go within a specific amount of time so that counts. I've eaten in this location three times - every time the food was very good - from the salad with strips of lean delicious beef - to the succulent turkey sandwiches and the garden vegetable soup! The place is always noisy and crowded at lunch time - it appears to be a favorite lunch-time destination for the Fort Monmouth crowd - based on the number of Army uniforms I see in there. Three strikes and you're out! This is without question the worst Panera I've been to. Because of its location, I've given it a few more tries than I normally would. Three of the last ones I went in with my family during dinner hours, they were out of a few different things. The last time, half our order was up on the counter (the hot food) and the other half took a solid 10 minutes. I went to complain about our food being cold and the staff just shrugged their shoulders. All three times we complained to the manager who did absolutely nothing. One of the times was my son's birthday. They were out of his favorite Mac n cheese bread bowl. The manager told us it was his birthday,too. Then he walked away. I'm so happy to know the manager's birthday is Oct 17. That's a big help. I filled out a survey they sent me online detailing what happened during my visits and. Ever heard back. Recently bought food to go. When I got home and bit into the hard baguette my upper dental bridge broke into pieces. I discovered a very hard piece within the bread. I contacted Panera customer service who were initially nice. But then referred me to their insurance company Travelers. I contacted them and provide bills for repair, replacing with pictures. When I then called insurance adjuster, without looking at information or listening said bread was soft and I had to see them rip off the loaf. He did not want to hear anything. I said it was to go so I did not see them ripping it apart. He just wanted to tell me it could not of been their fault. I explained I am not looking for full paynyjust a little help with expensive replacement. He said "to be honest" I don't see this going anywhere. Obviously plan is to deny everything. I have to admit that Panera is one of the better chains/franchises out there. It's good enough to warrant my taking the time to write this review. I must note that this is being rated against other fast food places.... I can't rate it against a normal resturant experience. I've been to the Shrewsbury location on two occasions now and both times I have been completely happy with both the service and the food. The employees have been extremely friendly and punctual - food is prepared and served rather quickly and is extremely fresh. Food offerings consist of salads, sandwiches and soups. I've tried all three in my two travels (this time was a salad, previous time was half a sandwich and soup). I also like that they offer you the option of having an apple as an alternative to bread or chips on the side. Would I come here everyday - of course not - but I certainly find this to be a great alternative for lunch. I will definitely continue to come to Panera in the future. read more

I went into the Shrewsbury, NJ Panera this morning to get my daily coffee. I sent an email to customer care to let them know of the very filthy mens bathroom on June 28. Today is July 3, SIX days later, the restroom is still filthy. It had not been cleaned at all. I also sent an notice to cutomer care last year and did not see much improvement. It's very disappointing that a simple daily task of cleanliness in a high volume restaurant can't be addressed especially after a request to your customer care was made. As I said, I was a restaurant store manager for many years, we thoroughly cleaned and bleached the toilets, sinks, floors, walls and baseboards, before opening and all through out the day. CLEAN sanitary Bathroom = CLEAN sanitary Kitchen This Panera store front doors glass is dirty as well, greasy with smudged hand prints, so obviously, they are not cleaned. Not good especially at end of Covid pandemic. I did see a manager today and let her know of this issue. She said thank you, but will see what happens. I'm not one to leave Yelp or Google reviews but now I will leave this email as a review of this store. I'm not a germaphob or clean freak but this is not acceptable for a Panera that has a nice professional customer base. My place of work is down the street, many co-workers get lunch there, now we will go elsewhere, until a change is made. So I just ordered a Frontega chicken sandwich..I was the only one in line, no one waiting because it was 3:30pm. I put my order in and the 2 sandwich makers were just standing there taking about their own bullshit. Eventually the manager comes over and says to them... "Why are you guys standing here doing nothing, we have a customer here". They both answered "we ain't know how to make a Frontega". They were literally just standing there as i looked at them... We decided to come here for lunch because we wanted to eat something we wouldn't feel guilty about. We ordered 2 salads. The new green Cobb and the Chinese chicken. Even with a long line it moved super quickly and we got our food within minutes. The food was delicious!!! One of the greatest salads I've ever had. I have had the worst service of my life at this Panera. I walked in at 5:50 and ordered a sandwich on the touchscreens. After 10 minutes, my friend who had ordered after me, had received the two soups that she ordered and was almost halfway done. I had still not received my food. So, I went up to the counter and asked about my food. That was 20 minutes after ordering and now I am still in the restaurant 35 minutes after ordering and have not received my food.
