The workers are so nice. I feel bad that they were by themselves (3 people) handling the store--staff shortage?? Possibly. They were out of everything: salads, lettuce, apples, strawberries, and other menu items. It seems as though either A) who ever ordered didn't know how to calculate how much food is needed and how they go through in a typical week B) their food order didn't arrive on time-- there's a delay On another note: the place was absolutely filthy! Bugs/flies coming out of the trash. Dirty plates piled at the trash bins. The tables and booths were dirty--sticky, crumbs left behind, water on the table The doors, windows, handles were dirty --dusty like no one has cleaned those areas in months. The carpet looked like it hasn't been vacuumed in a long time. The floors were visibly dirty. The baseboards were dirty filled with dust. Cobwebs on the light fixtures. Surprisingly the bathroom was somewhat decent-- I would have expected it to be worse. The cashier had AirPods on-- from what I know of food safety AirPods, headphones are not allowed in food service for danger of contaminating food and safety. The soup we ordered was lukewarm. I distrusted eating the food for worry of getting sick. I would recommend they do a compliance walk on their own before an inspector arrives. They will fail if they had one now. (These are my observations) I don't recommend this place until they figure out how to address their lack of cleanliness, food availability, and possibly staff shortage. read more

Just thought I'd take to time to give a shout-out to the Panera in the Target Center in Sand City. I popped in two days in a row last week and got outstanding service both times from someone named Nia. Super friendly and she went out of her way to help me. When I got there too late to get any of their black pepper focaccia bread (they had sold out), she seemed more heartbroken than I was. I returned the next day and she had to look extra hard before finding where someone had hidden it. She went out of her way and I really appreciated her customer service. Not everybody does that. There was a free bakery treat on my app and this Panera location was a mile and a half from hotel. Placed an order on my app for my favorite cookie, the Kitchen Sink and went to mall for pick up. It's New Year's Day, and we stopped in for a few sandwiches, pastry, and coffee. We ordered there and food came out fairly quickly. The place looks well organized and clean. I liked that the music wasn't blaring loud. The sandwiches were both good (chicken salad and a turkey). The bread was soft and seemed fresh on both sandwiches. The creme brulee latte was okay; the flavor wasn't really detectable. And the cherry danish was dry (the breading) and seemed like it's been sitting there for several days. But there was a good amount of cherry filling. The young lady at the counter, and the young man at the pick up window, were both polite and warm. It's in a shopping center, so there was ample parking. Overall, it was a better than expected experience for a chain store. read more

May 9th at 2 pm, 5 of us went in for lunch. We waited for 10 minutes and no one came to the counter. We said anyone working here? No answer! We proceeded to the order machine, and then 2 new groups of people came in, 2 and 4. They said loudly at the counter, Anyone Work Here? No answer, then about 5 minutes later a guy came from the back and didn't offer any apology, just said, Who's first to Order? The last customers in, started tovorder, and we said, Hey! We are first. The people were mad, and it ruined our lunch. I also ordered a grilled cheese for the first time, and it was awful. We have been to this location a few times before and things pretty good. Its been at least 2 years since we went to this location and decided to stop in at 8 to get some scones. Walked in to a sticky floor, no bagels, no scones and hardly any items in the case. No one around and honestly just a sense of yuck. A guy in a tshirt finally came out from the back and we asked about scones. No scones as no icing! Crazy. This location used to be awesome. Sure has gone downhill. All the coffee was out, when asked about getting them refilled the staff looked bothered. Gal was wiping down tables, left the tabletops do wet you couldn't even sit at it. Took too long for the refill of the coffees & half & halfs. Panera employees at the time were very unprofessional entitled attitude no apologies that we got from them and I even tried to thanking them for taking too long for there refills of both Coffee and Half & Half. The Panera sand city has gotten worse since they opened 10 years ago and each year the people in charge of that area get more entitled and disrespectful to the customers that buy food at the sand city panera. It took more then 10 minutes for us to wait for a cashier so we instead ordered on one of their tablets. I am done with the Panera Sand city. Never ever again going to that place again. My wife was shorted 2 bagels on a take out order. We did not discover this until we opened the bag some 4 miles away. My wife called them and was told stop in anytime they would make it good. She left them her name. A few days later she was humiliated and embarrassed by the manager when she explained what happened. She was denied the bagels!!!!! How can you run a business like that? I love to help wide and spacious this particular Panera was in Seaside!! I also loved their conference room that was available via reservation! When I took this picture there was actually what looked like two managers from Panera doing paperwork inside so I didn't want to take their picture also. Lol they have a huge seating area and all the customers were politely spacing themselves out since we were going to be eating without masks on while indoors. I truly appreciated that and it was too windy outside to eat comfortably. Lol The lady at the register misunderstood my sandwich and I'm not too sure if she repeated the sandwich back to me or not. Perhaps it was the fact we were both wearing masks and I was really lacking caffeine from the hazelnut coffee I hadn't had yet that day. We came recently for a family dinner. Food was tasty, portions generous and service was prompt. It is a self service type of place with a variety of vegetarian options available. I don't recommend this place to anyone. I used to go there quite a bit. And i still visit the one in San Diego. But the Sand City restaurant is so bad. First it's freezing cold. You sit and have a cup of coffee and your shuddering. Who want to eat lunch that cold. Second, fun the first time i ate there, I've rarely had a good meal. The soup is spilled on the sandwich making the bread soggy. The food is always cold. The pasterys are hard as a rock. Worst of all one of the stalls in the mens bathroom has been taped off and the toilet has been full of bile for weeks. This place ought to be reported to the health department. read more

For a chain restaraunt I am always pleased with this spot. The prices are not super cheap, but no super expensive either for a fresh made sandwich. I also always enjoy the bread the sandwhich made on and I enjoy ordering food on the little i-Pad ordering system when I don't feel like talking to anyone and or I am in a hurry. They have clean restrooms and free WiFi, also, excellent things to have if you need a spot to do some work. For this visit I ordered half a sandwhich and soup combo. I chose the baked potatoe soup and half a turkey club on sourdough. The sandwiches are a bit dry but there is extra mayonaisse and mustard by the drink staltion. I enjoyed the soup because it was not overwhelmingly rich. It was even better with tabasco on it! The speciality drinks are really fun as well. You order one, but because it is self serve you can pretty mix an match the drinks as you want. I had the prickly pear hibiscus tea. Very refreshing and not too sweet. I was happy they've brought back the onion soup. I order soup & 1/2 turkey bacon avo sand. However, the half sandwich I got was horrible. It was soaking wet from the meat down through the bottom piece of French baguette roll. Quick fix. I dry off the turkey with napkins, as well as the arugula which was dripping wet also-the very few pieces I had. I arrange the top piece of baguette with the couple slivers of avocado, bacon, arugula and the couple pieces of turkey that wasn't tiny pieces (looked like leftovers; which I didn't eat). I have to say, I am extremely impressed with this location. Needless to say, the food is always on point and fresh. The management is extremely welcoming along with her staff. I've been meeting to post a review for sometime now. I also started ordering through their online app and have no complaints. Brand new location that just opened! Located to the left of Ulta Beauty and in the Target shopping center. They have 4 self-serve ordering kiosks if you want to skip the line. There's a big dining area with a "quiet" room. Unfortunately, -1 star because at least half of the empty tables were dirty with either crumbs, liquids, or food smears/stains. I don't think there's enough staff to constantly clean and wipe down the tables after each guest. I ordered a kids mac n cheese and grilled cheese meal. The wait was about 20 minutes when I placed my order at 17:58 on a Saturday :-( (-1 star) They had displays on each table saying you can now order online via your smartphone or tablet and have the food delivered to your table. read more
