everytime i pass a Panera Bread...i always thought it was just all bread...then again, the place is too big to sell just bread. still, the word Bread in the name just didn't appeal to me. i just don't have time to go check out bread. so, i went there yesterday, only after reading about it on Yelp. i picked Coleman cuz it was near my hunnie's work. it was packed and busy. i bought an Italian Ciabatta Combo with a fruit cup, plus a container of their flavored (Hazelnut) cream cheese. my hunnie didn't like the sandwhich that much, the bread wasn't as crunchy as the ones he had at Jack in the Box. besides, he'd rather have a togo's hot pastrami for that price. he's right. there wasn't much else on the menu that i'd wanna try....most were just turkey or ham or tuna. though i'm curious about their egg souffle...it just sounds yummy. cashier told me they stopped serving those at 11 am. this is why i'm giving a 4 star instead of 3. i'm going to give it another chance with the egg souffle. oh, the cream cheese is soft and creamy. it's delicious. i dip strawberries in it, soooooooo good. the price for their container is about same as the market price. Hazelnut is good, it has tiny chunks of nuts in it. i'd definitely try the raspberry cream cheese next time. their pastries look fresh and yummy too, those morsels are huge, gonna get some next time i visit the Rose Garden. read more

Pretty much like Prolific Oven but without having to deal with the messy parking lot at Rivermark. Tuna sandwich was okay but their Steak salad was good, lots of walnuts! Other coworkers liked their paninis and all the soups smelled really good. read more

I used to eat at Panera when I was in college in Illinois. It was a real delight to see when they expanded to California. The bread is always fresh and most of the sandwiches are good. The paninis are so-so. The cinnamon raisin bread is fantastic. read more

I haven been visiting Panera locations for many years, but this one on Coleman has the worst service. When I arrived, the line was long and when I asked one of the employees if other people can ring, she she said no, I asked to speak with a manager, she refused to get me one. When I told her that it was close to 11 am and they would stop serving breakfast soon, she actually said, and I quote "you will just have to wait". I then asked to speak with a manager again, no one came to speak with me. After finally placing my order, they forgot to make it, so I had to wait an added 15 minutes. read more

This is a frequent lunch spot for me and my co-workers. I usually either get the sandwich/salad combo OR a panini sandwich (my fav panini is the Frontega Chicken). I find that the sandwich/salad portions are a bit small. The Frontega Chicken Hot Panini sandwich is oh so delish but is 860 calories and 39 grams of fat! I thought I was going with the healthier option over wingstop next door but that's probably not the case. That's waaaay more calories than the big mac or whopper with cheese! Taste good, prices are average but a lot of items on the menu are NOT healthy lunch options. read more

the food at Panera is decent, but I don't consider it the main attraction. this place has great service and great ambience. just get a mug ($3), and spend a few hours here using the wi-fi, getting a free refill every so often. the pastries and bread is also extremely fresh. maybe get a meal before you turn your mug back in. be warned though: some of the power plugs are closed off, which makes this place less apealing. read more

I haven't really gone back to Panera bread since the first time- but I really wanted a good sandwich and Mimi T suggested Panera Bread. I ordered the Turkey Artichoke and a cup of their broccoli cheddar soup. The turkey artichoke sandwich was delish- it was good didn't feel overly heavy. It was a lot of sandwich, I only ate half and took home the other half for lunch tomorrow! I finished the soup though! It was yummy! We first discovered this place in Ohio last year, while on vacation and fell in love with it. Much to our surprise, within 3 months, it opened up in the Bay Area!! How wonderful! The salads and sandwiches(panini's in particular) are very good. We have some of our functions at church catered by Panera Bread. I absolutely love this place! The portion sizes are good & they give you an option of chips or.. for those health conscious, like me..an apple. If you want variety, go for half sandwich, half salad, they've got a pretty good selection in both the sandwich and salad menu. The salads are tasty, I tend to get the ones with the fresh fruit in it. They don't overdo it with the dressing, but u can always get it on the side if you want. The best part, they post their nutritional info! Mmmm, yummy! I have been to Panera bread twice now. Once for breakfast, I can't remember the name of what I had but ti was really good. And once for lunch, soup/salad combo. The food was fresh and flavorful. It was really good. The atmosphere is a bit like Starbucks inside, which is good. They have wifi, and individual areas. Can't really describe. 'Love this place! Fresh bread and pastries, yum! The crispani is tasty too, but you have to wait 'til 4 pm to order that. Coffee is so-so, but definitely come for the bread. i wasnt blown away. in fact, this was a last resort after an hour of indecisiveness. i ordered the mediterranean veggie sandwich and it was something i could have made at home. the hummus was good, but it over powered the entire sandwich. also, pickled peperoncini would have been MUCH better than the red peppers in the sandwich. i was excited to eat here initially because a side comes with the sandwich. but, if you order a sandwich/panini, why would you want a piece of bread as a side?! im eating bread already! i ended up getting a bag of chips *barf* instead of the apple because the apples didnt look too...fresh. i knew i should have gone with my first instinct and stayed at the wing stop next door or went out for vietnamese. ugh! their pastries, breads, and bagels look quite tasty, however, and looks like a better breakfast alternative to starbucks. im willing to give this place a second try because they serve french onion soup (im on the hunt for the best bowl in the south bay) and their salads look pretty good too. the service is helpful, but you dont interact much. the pick up service is pointless because they dont call our your name or your order number. instead, buzzers are given out. but what if more than one order is ready? i had to grab my own food from someone else! by the looks of it, it looks like students come here to study and it can get busy/loud. the decor is spacious and free WiFi (explains the influx of students). i guess this place isnt all too bad after all. read more

The tomato mozzarella panini is really the best thing on the menu now....compared to the turkey artichoke (although it had crusty cheese grilled onto the bread), the mozzarella panini is basically a tomato sauce based with lots of mozzarella and spices, soo deliciouss! read more

Today my mommy dearest grabbed some lunch in San Jose at this place... I had it before and knew it was a good sandwhich/fresh bread restaurant. Getting there the line is already out the door and tables are pretty much full but we waited none the less. We finally make it up to the counter, I tell my sandwhich "I would like the half smokehouse turkey with a cup of soup" then my mom orders her. Being the expressives that we are we make small talk with cashier only to find out he is the manager and quite proud of it. We pay, $10.76 which seemed really cheap but didn't think anything of it. About one minute later, yes count it, one minute we get told our sandwhich is ready. Impossible. I go up to check and the stupid manager did everything wrong and only ordered one sandwhich... (automatic one star drop for that) but the expo gets it figured out, gives a free sandwhich and it was wonderful. We didn't even complain! Just proving they are very nice and generous! When you need to grab a quick bite to eat, but don't feel like having fast food Panera is a great option. Every once in awhile I like to run in to grab bagels to take to the office, there's nothing like carbs and cream cheese to help motivate your coworkers. My favorite is their spinach and artichoke souffle with a caesar salad, although it's not always an option at lunchtime since once they run out of souffles that's it until tomorrow. I used to think that this was a pretty healthy dining option until I read the nutritional facts...900 calories for a salad and souffle? Same great place, different location. I usually go to the Panera in Fremont on Christy St. (near the Fremont Auto Mall). That choice is more about the location than a preference for that store. The Coleman location is every bit as good. They all get pretty crowded at lunch time, but I'm usually there a bit later in the afternoon, so it's not an issue for me. En route to this store, I called in an order, thinking that it'd be ready when I got there 10 minutes later. Not only wasn't this the case, the order hadn't even been started.
