I ordered the Mediterranean Veggie sandwich for the first time at the Panera Bread in Smithfield, NC, and it was amazing. The veggies were crisp, and it looked great. So, I decided to try it again at the Tarrytown location in Rocky Mount but my expectations were a bit too high.When I got my sandwich this time, I could tell it wouldn't taste the same. The hummus was runny, and the veggies were just okay. The bread was so hard that I couldn't even eat the crust. I really wanted to enjoy it, but I didn't. 2024- Yelp 100 Challenge - #59 Visited on 11/25/24 through the drive through. Ordered half and half bacon turkey bravo and mac, a whole turkey bravo sandwich, and two chocolate chip cookies. The cookies were as hard as a break. The young lady taking orders gave us two hard cookies that we couldn't even break in half. When we asked for a refund she blew loudly as if we were inconveniencing her. The manager kindly came to the window to refund the cookies but why would anyone sell brick like cookies in the first place. 0 out of 5 stars if possible. 1 start for the manger apologizing and refunding the cookies. read more

I'm going to be honest, this was my first time to Panera and I loved the food. Price was okay but the sandwich I ordered was delicious. The servers were nice but not overly friendly. The restaurant itself was surprisingly crowded and many of the tables were not cleaned and were a bit dirty. For me though, the food is the most important part, so I would return. Last thing, they were out of many items (even chips) so minus a star. read more

They didn't speak to me when I entered but to my surprise another group of people entered and they then spoke. Very selective on being warm and welcoming initially. They prepared everything well but missed placing the bread that went with the cream of mushroom wild rice. They thanked me for waiting and told me to have a nice day. Stopped through here for breakfast. Order: two plain bagels with 8 butters; sliced and toasted Parking lot looked empty and no one was in drive thru but service was slower than anticipated. They tell me there's only one plain bagel, so I substitute one for an Everything bagel. Go to the window, my plain bagel got stuck in the toaster and it's burnt. They let me order a Mac and cheese bowl at the drive thru and the emotionless, heartless cashier proceeded to inform me they "did not have any more Mac and cheese in stock" when I pulled up to the window. They could have stated they didn't have any while I was at the ordering screen. As they are making my order which they had to swap for a soup that smelled like low tide they have the audacity to ask if I ordered a drink! Like did they even listen or care when I was ordering? I was not asked if I was a member or if I wanted bread chips or apple. I was just given bread and missed out on my membership discount. I also got onions when I asked for no onions and my grilled cheese to add pickles came with no pickle. I ordered a large drink and got a regular as well. Be careful here ! They have someone working that doesn't give you back your debit card , steals it and then acts like they gave it back to you when in fact they didn't. My husband went in to speak with a manager and they acted like they had no clue. We had to call the bank to cancel the card . Ridiculous! In a town where customer service is almost nonexistent, this place is the anomaly! They make it a wonderful place to stop in for lunch or dinner with the food being fresh, hot and delicious but most importantly the service is magnificent! I've lived in this town all my life and have seen the steady decline but this place takes me back to how it use to be; how it should be! Pretty small whole Fuji Apple salad. Smallest that I have ever seen at a Panera's. Didn't have French baguettes nor quinoa either. Looks like a new store with nice outdoor seating. Would recommend skipping this one. read more

This is a much needed new location in Rocky Mount near Sams Club. It's really nice inside with fresh and modern decor. The kiosk near the front entrance is pretty much the same as most locations.. I ordered my usual Southwest lime and chicken salad with extra arugula and romaine to go. This salad comes with avocado, but I noticed once I arrived to my destination.. guess what.. no avocado.. oh well not a big deal, but I did notice the employees in the kitchen moving really slow and all of them had confused and clueless looks on their faces. I witnessed a wrong sandwich order given to a customer, but they seemed to try and fix it without hesitation. I really hope this Panera survives in Rocky Mount. Looks like more training is needed.. There are not a lot of options for healthy food on the go. It's really my only option at this point when a I'm visiting my parent's home. read more

This location just recently opened and are still working out the kinks. My only complaint is that some ingredients in the orders I have placed have been unavailable. However, the manager always makes it right and is completely apologetic. The store is very clean and employees are very warm and welcoming. I am so overjoyed with having a Panera bread near my home but my wallet isn't so delighted, I cold eat here for all three meals everyday. Great work team!! read more

I really want to like Panera, but EVERY time...and I mean EVERY time I have gone there since they opened, has only been a nightmare. First time (August 2019), went with my daughter and we both got salads with chicken. The chicken was FROZEN, like frozen solid. How does someone physically put the chicken on the salads and not notice it was frozen solid? Next time (Feb 2020), I went when family was in for a dying relative in the hospital and my 2 aunts wanted Panera. I warned them of my previous experience but they said to give them another chance, so I did. They put a completely wrong sandwich in the bags, and we were missing a complete salad - and I had to wait almost 40 freaking minutes for all of that. All of this was unpacked at the hospital and everyone was so hungry, we just bits and pieces of what was included. Now today (March 2021) I stupidly went back and ordered a 1/2 chicken Caesar salad with no croutons. THEY DIDN'T PUT THE CHICKEN ON IT! Over and $8 salad after tax for lettuce and some dressing. Bottom line - JUST DON'T DO IT! This location should not exist if they are not going to train their staff properly. They make all Panera's look bad, because I will NEVER go to any of them again after my 3 experiences at this one. My wife went here for lunch today. She sat in line for 20 minutes and ordered her food, which was fine. They asked her to pull up to wait for her food. She waited for another 10 minutes until they finally gave her the food. She did not receive the food that she asked for. She ordered a half chipotle chicken melt sandwich, a bowl of chicken noodle soup, and a chocolate chipper cookie. They gave her a Caesar Salad, a CUP OF BROTH (no noodles, carrots, or chicken) and a crunchy cookie! She was so disappointed since she's a loyal customer. I am writing this taking C-19 as the exceuciating factor. The service and accountability was absent. The manager was making sandwiches vs leading the crew. There was no process or trained people on stations. The hygiene was absent with trash overflowing and drink station worker holding cups from inside while making drinks. This is the 1st Panera where I have experienced poor cleanliness/ service. There were people waiting for 30+ min to get their food/ drink order and Panera is a fast casual brand where nothing should take more than 10 min. There is a People and process issue and it needs to be revamped. Hopefully, their district leadership takes a note and invests in it's people and improving processes. read more

Went through the drive thru today and ordered three bowls of soup. We were to get bread with the order but when I got home no bread just soup. The soup was good but would have been better with the bread. Of course by the time you get home it isn't worth driving back. Came here about a month ago and ordered through the drive thru. Took 30 minutes to get my food. Came back through the drive thru today, I was told to pull up and someone would bring my food out to me. I waited 35 minutes as four cars behind me got their food and left. I went inside to tell them how long I've been waiting as others have gotten their food and left and I just wanted my money back. It seemed to be a supervisor or someone in charge. She did not apologize, nor did she try to make it right at all. On top of that, it took her almost 10 minutes just to give me my money back, with an attitude. Initially, I was upset because I ordered 2 pick 2s. Both with cup of cheddar broccoli and grilled chicken ceaser salads. My portions were extremely small & for $21 I wasn't happy. Tyler the OM was beyond awesome with rectifying the issue. Want to order lunch and never get your food? This is the place for you! After several months, I decided to give Panera Bread Delivery a 2nd chance. I never should have done it. I ordered my food through the Panera App at 10:00 am and requested it to be delivered to my workplace between 11:45-12:00 because on my job I have a very specific lunch time. Went to track my order only to discover Panera had passed my order off to Doordash. I thought no problem. Delivery time came and went. I patiently waited for my food for an additional 30 minutes with the tr As I watched the map, I noticed the delivery person did not move the entire time. I decided to reach out to a Panera Bread for help. The people were extremely rude and unhelpful. Told me it was not their problem and I needed to call Doordash. I explained I had ordered through their app, but the continued to refuse to help. Finally the manager did refund my money, but told me they did not need to do so.
