We were in town and usually try to find a Chinese buffet to try so we can get multiple things. The ratings on yelp are what led me to this place.. and almost wish we hadn't. Buffet selection was small, more "odd" choices vs some standard items you'd see on a Chinese buffet. Quality of food was also eh, had maybe one or two things that I can say I truly enjoyed and the rest was tolerable. I see now that pricing for what is offered was brought up... definitely an issue. Three people and two sodas was slightly over $70! We could have went to a great restaurant for that cost. It was a bit dark and outdated inside. Walking around the buffet was also tight and you had to move out of people's way. Service was friendly at least. Def would never return unfortunately. read more

Choice of buffet or full menu. Buffet also includes salad and dessert buffet. We choose buffet. A true Chinese buffet with no American food. We tasted everything and were not disappointed. Each was better than the previous. The waiter was outstanding. He made sure we had everything we needed and checked on us regularly. You are given a hot towel when you are done to clean up. Very reasonably priced. read more

I've always given Hung Ta 5 star reviews. Today I'm dropping it to 4 stars. The last two times we have eaten here they were out of plum wine which is a perfect match to oriental food. Very disappointed to eat my meal without plum wine. read more

I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door. I hadn't been here before, so I wasn't sure was I was seeing. I was seated by a young man, I apologize I don't remember your name, and he quickly took my drink order. He knew what beers he had available, and basic information about the beer. I'm guessing he was not old enough to drink. But he was spot on. When he returned to take my order I informed him that I hadn't been there before, and he quickly filled me in. I could order specific meals or dishes, or enjoy the buffet. And I did enjoy it. I tried everything but the soups and salad bar. There was only one dish that I didn't enjoy, but it was personal preference, it looked delicious. The price was very fair, for the buffet, as I took 4 plates! And a bowl of ice cream. Seating had many "sections" which would add to privacy and intimacy. Music was at a low but audible level, and it smelled good. I would recommend for anyone looking for easy Asian food. read more

I had curry chicken and it was full of veg as I like it and the veg fried rice was delish, Gen Chicken was good too- We will return !! read more

Food was horrible. It was cold and overcooked. I only saw one entree being refreshed. Service is great. Too bad the food didn't match the service. Setting was fitting for style of food they were serving. Wish the food was better. read more

My family has eaten here for years. The food can be very well prepared. However, from the buffet, they are hit and miss. About half the time the fried items on the bar are bitter, due to them not using fresh fryer oil. At $20 a head, that is too much of a risk. When you arrive, check the fried green beans. If they are very dark, walk away. If they are golden brown, your chances are good. read more

Way too expensive for minimally acceptable buffet. Wife and I spent 50 for what should have been no more than $30.00 tops. Service was good but the food definitely mid. If you consider it was in Rocky Mount, it adds a whole other dimensions to insult and injury. read more

I'm the type of person who likes eating a bit of everything, even if the food doesn't taste good. But this place, The food wasn't even passable to eat. Terrible food. There's no variety. The food was stale, no flavor, cold, seemed like it's been sitting there for hours if not days. We didn't even consider trying more because both my partner and I got an upset stomach; even threw up. 1 star for good service. the people who worked there were nice and the place was nice. read more

This place was destroyed by a tornado. They are closed for now. But, according to sources they plan to reopen. It was a great place to eat.

Lunch time at this all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet. Service was great from the waitress who cleared dirty dishes and refilled drinks and from the nice lady working the register with the big smile. The buffet isn't all that large and the stuff on there was just okay. Too much sauce and not enough protein. It was well taken care of and tidy but after two plates of mostly chicken with broccoli, I quite while I wasn't too far behind. read more

My favorite spot when I'm in the area! The best egg drop soup! If you are eating at dinner time you get warm hand towels to clean your hands! Pretty comfortable environment and everyone is always nice! Oh yeaaa the duck sauce(which you have to go request for) is the bombbbb, it kind reminds me of applesauce but I love it with my Spring Rolls! Y'all should definitely check out this spot, they definitely take pride in their food..it's not your ordinary Chinese take out spot, this is Top tier! Hing Ta - a woman standing in front of a buffet - Cantonese Near Me - Rocky Mount, North Carolina

I've been eating at Hing Ta for over twenty years and this is the first time I've been completely dissatisfied. The last time we ate here a few months ago the spring rolls and crab Rangoon tasted like they were burnt or cooked in old oil but everything else was fine. This time everything was horrible. Hing Ta makes my favorite hot and sour soup but this time I could only stomach a couple of spoonfuls, the fried green beans tasted like they were made hours ago, I tried all my usual dishes and they were either overly salty, overcooked or tasted like they were lunch leftovers. I chose to come unto Hing Ta for my birthday dinner. Sadly I am totally disappointed. The service was fine but the food was a total letdown. Maybe they changed cooks, but either way it will be a long while before we return. Hing Ta has been my favorite restaurant in Rocky Mount from day one, sadly I have to find another place. read more

I think their buffet is great! Very fresh and constantly being restocked. I love the salad part of the buffet too. It's always so fresh. The staff is wonderful. And, I have to say that the Blue Hawaiian was to die for. I think the prices are fair, considering the current economy. I don't want Chinese fast food. I want real Chinese cuisine and that's what I get at Hing Ta! The warm towels provided at the end of our meals are a welcome touch too. Eileen Barrett read more

This was by far the worst Chineses restaurant in Rocky Mount I hope because I don't live here and was just passing through but I would never come to this place again. It did teach me something though ... to pay more attention to my instincts the good was horrible I just hope I don't pay for it later The food was horrible and I still paid almost $40 for two plates Don't come here it's not worth it read more

Hing Ta is probably my favorite Chinese take-out restaurant ever. They have a great buffet if you're looking to eat in, but I really love eating Chinese at home and snuggled up on the couch. My favorite is the orange chicken. It is so light and flavorful. The sauce is fresh and tastes just like orange; nothing artificial about it! The chicken is juicy, white meat chicken and the breading is delicate and doesn't overwhelm the tender, juiciness of the chicken. I also love their spring rolls! The filling is full of flavor and not just stuffed with soggy cabbage. It's easy to find parking and quick to run in and grab your to-go order. The interior of the restaurant is full of Asian charm. Hing Ta is a real Rocky Mount gem. read more

Very rude cashier/manager. She tossed my receipt at me once I was done trying to pay. She was extremely rude to me in front of other people for no reason since all I wanted to do was pay for my food and she was not being helpful and kept misdirecting me. She made me feel very unwelcomed and I should have just cancelled my order but I still gave the place the benefit of the doubt. I regret my decision as the food was not good either. My noodles had no flavor and I had to toss it after just 3 bites. Honestly shocked at how highly reviewed this place. read more

The BEST Chinese buffet we've had since we moved to North Carolina!!!!! This is a quiet little buffet but the food tastes amazing. I ate so much I couldn't eat anymore food. Their homemade duck sauce is to die for. The kids and my husband loved it too. The service was quick and great! As soon as the cup was empty or almost empty she filled it. We ask for napkins and she brought them immediately. They have nice decor as well. They have cakes and ice cream for dessert. We will definitely be back for more! read more

Small buffet . Nice Chinese instrumental music. Clean place . But that's about it. I'm not from Rocky Mount area and had better choices to eat.Not sure how this place has 4 stars.may be no other choices around here..all the food in buffet were very dull and too much of soy sauce in everything. $14.50 for lunch buffet...killer!! Mei fun was watery....chicken broccoli was almost like chocolate color. Hot sour soup was sweeeet. Fruits were ok. There was a salad section too. Anyway good luck folks. read more

Had some of the best take out food here that I've ever had!! Food was FRESH, and the flavors were clean and very flavorful. I wasn't impressed with the lunch buffet and dinner service other than the buffet is a bit slow and clunky but fresh from the kitchen is the way to go. The food was okay - decent for a Chinese buffet - and the staff were very pleasant! Unfortunately it was obscenely expensive - $50 for 2 plates. Order off-menu and challenge their chef... he has skills. We skipped the buffet as it was drawing close to closing time and ordered from the menu. As we were awaiting our order; the owner approached our table and asked if we'd like to try some tempura green beans freshly prepared by her chef as her dinner. I'm so glad we said yes as they were very, very tasty and fresh! She then suggested that any time we were in the area and stopping in that we should order anything whether it be on the menu or not. She bragged of her chef's creative skills and I can see why. We'll definitely make this place a regular stop on the way to/from the coast. read more

When we discovered this restaurant a few years ago we were so excited! Half way between DC and where we stop overnight in SC on our way to FL. Sure, it's a few miles off 95, but the buffet food was so tasty! This time was different. It was a Sunday and the place was mobbed! We thought they were giving away the food. I guess everyone goes there after church? And of course it would be crowded, right? The food's sooo good... but NOT today. There was more non-Chinese food on the buffet than Chinese food. Fried chicken tenders, chicken fingers, fried potatoes... they were all dry. The beef with broccoli tasted like it was floating in soy sauce. The spring roll was soggy and tasteless. The General Tao's had a pasty gooey coating. This had been such an excellent buffet, what happened?! read more

The food use to be really good on takeout orders. Over the past 6 months something has changed and the takeout orders are poor quality.

Wow, what a find in Rocky Mount. I was wanting an easy dinner and discovered them on yelp. I decided to take a chance and a drive over. They were busy for a Sunday night and that was a good sign for me. The buffet was a nice assortment of entrees, not a giant quantity, but a manageable amount. Everything was hot and fresh. I did try a little of everything and it was all good. The staff was attentive and very kind, even to a single diner. Yes, I will be back! read more

It pains me to have to leave this review. As a Rocky Mount native, I have been going to this restaurant since I was a small child. I am now thirty-four years of age, and I think tonight was my last time dining here. There are many issues to address. I will begin by addressing the attitude of the young woman who acts as manager when the Owner isn't in the restaurant. There are words I'd rather use, but I will say she is EXTREMELY unkind, unprofessional, and arrogant. On many occasions, I have been treated disrespectfully by her both over the phone and in person. I have even gone out of my way to warn a family member of her attitude before going to retrieve a call-in order, only to have my fear of his mistreatment by this young woman validated thoroughly. The owner's attitude is a polar opposite. She is warm and kind. It feels like she cares about me and my family when I'm in the restaurant. Nothing is too much of a request to her. She goes above and beyond with professionalism. How the rude young manager has been allowed to run the show in the owner's stead for this long, is well beyond my understanding. The next issue I'll focus on is the buffet, for which this restaurant is known. I walked into the restaurant at 8:20 on a night that the restaurant is open until 10:00. When I walked in, the buffet was skimpy, to put it lightly. There was hardly anything in any of the trays. It felt like they had already been well into the process of closing the restaurant. I get it, times are hard in 2023 and they aren't going to fill up the trays for the last 90 minutes of the night. But the amount of food in those trays was downright depressing. I almost walked out but the waiter roped me in and I didn't want to be a jerk. After all, I've been a patron at the restaurant for almost thirty years. I picked what I could, and made a decent plate, even though I didn't have a couple of my favorite items because the trays they were supposed to be in were completely empty. When I took my first bite and bit into a fried chicken wing, it was fully cooked, and the flavor was good, but it was as cold as if it had been sitting on the table I was dining at for a couple hours. Red flag. Almost every item I had on my plate followed suit. I swear it was as if they had turned the steam table off already or something. It was a hard thing to put out of mind while I was eating. Nothing on the hot part of the buffet was fresh. Nothing. And I've seen it like that once or twice before, but thought it was just an "off" night. It wasn't. That's how they run the restaurant now. Last, and most important: I got the buffet for one, with an iced tea. $24 and some change. Pre tax. I walked out feeling victimized. I used to love this place. I'm still fond of the owner. I just don't think I'll go back to pay that much money for what I had to choose from...very depressing. 1 star. read more

Way overpriced in my opinion for what's available on buffet. Prices are not listed anywhere and I blame myself for not asking ahead of time. My bill was $45.72 for 2 adults with water and tea. Waitress never refilled our glasses. read more

We came in at 8 o'clock after seeing here on the app they are open until 10pm. I was unaware that as we came in that they would no longer be restocking the buffet with fresh food. I had to eat mainly vegetables because there was hardly anything left. I already felt bothersome because I had asked for some sesame chicken that they refilled with literally one portion size for the whole buffet just for us to share 4 pieces, Food was really good, just not enough variety or enough for a buffet. At the end, still paid $14.99 for an adult which I thought considering the circumstances was extremely high. I'm sure coming here at 6 would have been a different experience but this was just mine. read more

This restaurant had very delicious food. It was slightly different than the average Chinese buffet with what they offered. The ribeye with onion was my fave thing on the buffet. Our waitress was super helpful and made sure our glasses never went below half of a glass. Unfortunately I didn't grab any photos of the food because I gobbled it right up! After our meal, we were given warm towels to clean up. It was such a great touch and wasn't expected. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Rocky Mount. read more

Okay let me start of with this....I'm Northren...born and raised. So maybe my food expectations are a bit different. But when I pay $16 for a chinese buffet, I expect a buffet..not one short line of food. I will say the food itself was not bad, the steak was great...but I want chinese food, no general tso at all, no chicken on a stick, no bourbon chicken....I find this place extremely lacking and will not go back. I had very high hopes for this restaurant, but honestly for the money I could have went to outback or golden corral. For my next chinese craving I'll just stick with our local Hong Kong. read more
