The absolute WORST Chinese food I have ever eaten in my life. The new management needs to do better. I ordered Cantonese chicken with beef fried rice. All wrong. The chicken was cut weird and fried so hard that I couldn't even bite it. Then it came with a bunch of raw vegetables. I had to pay extra for beef fried rice and it had a total of 4 pieces of beef in it. I also got fried chicken wings for my son who loves fried chicken wings. He wouldn't eat them. He said they tasted nasty. $25 wasted. We won't be back. read more

We saw the positive reviews before trying and were super excited as it's hard to come across decent service and food quality in rocky mount. China King went above and beyond our expectations. We got the sesame chicken and it was crisp and flavorful but not over sauced or soggy. The best I've ever had, comparable to PF Chang's dead serious. I got the crab Rangoon and it comes with 8 pieces and it also the best crab Rangoons I've ever had. The wontons were stuffed and I mean stuffed full!!! The stuffing was high quality. Looking for Chinese food in the area and they seemed to be the only ones open. Called ahead and food was ready when I arrived. And they appeared to be practicing social distancing, so that was a plus for the area. And my Mom enjoyed the food as well. Good overall experience. read more

Good egg roll, got general tso chicken combo....but I feel like I was eating deep fried chicken skin or something...definitely was little to no meat at all....pork fried rice was very bland...came with one piece of broccoli...got eyeballed when I went to grab 2 packets of spicy mustard and sweet and sour sauce that was sitting on the counter in a basket to grab..felt uncomfortable. On a recent trip through North Carolina, we stopped for the night in Rocky Mount and decided we wanted to order Chinese. China King was about a 20-minute drive from our hotel, but we figured it would be okay because everyone was tired of pizza and fries. The first thing to know about this place is that it has no dine-in seating. It is a take-out restaurant only. We didn't realize this and were disappointed when we got there and realized we would have to wait for our food and then drive 20 minutes back to our hotel to eat it. Not the restaurant's fault, but something you should know. The food took over twice as long to make as we were told by the manager (he said about 10 minutes; we ended up waiting 25 - with kids waiting in the car). But finally he handed us our two giant sacks of take-out, and we headed back to our hotel. Now - what happened next is at least partially our own fault for not thoroughly checking the bags while we were still at the restaurant. But when we got back to our motel, we found that two of our orders had been forgotten. We ordered beef with broccoli, chicken with garlic sauce, Szechwan chicken, shrimp fried rice, and mushu pork, with five orders of white rice. The shrimp fried rice and Szechwan chicken were missing from the bag. We called the restaurant - I hoped that they would have someone available to deliver the missing items to us, but at the very least I assumed they would refund us the money for the missing items on our credit card bill. They recognized us instantly when we called, apologized, and said they had our missing food waiting for us if we wanted to come pick it up. I told them that we were 20 minutes away (it was already 9:45 pm at this point) and asked for either delivery or a refund. I was told that neither was an option. I'm giving this place two stars because the food was decent (not great, though) and I feel that again, this was partially our fault for not checking our bags before leaving (although the bags were stuffed full of food, and this would have meant unpacking everything onto the counter) but I was really disappointed in the service and feel that the restaurant should have at least refunded our money for the food they failed to give us. Sadly, can't recommend this place. If you do go there, be prepared to eat at home and definitely check your order before leaving. read more

Happened to drive through Rocky Mount last weekend and the GPS brought my friend and I to this little place. we ordered some fried chicken wings for appetizer. They do it the old style where they fry the entire wing, instead of chopping it to pieces. I like it that way, get to get my hands dirty. The wings weren't over fried and the meat was marinated well. I ordered the Sesame chicken with white rice. It was delicious. My friend ordered the Shrimp with Broccoli. The sauces were good, and the meat and vegetables tasted fresh. Sometimes I hit up Chinese restaurants and their sauces are either too bland or salty, but this place does it well. It was perfect, and not too oily. If I ever go back to Rocky Mount again (Probably never will), I will definitely stop by China King. read more

Went in for lunch and wound up walking out without any food. The cook who tried to take my order was extremely rude and actually refused to make the food. All I wanted was steamed chicken & broccoli with garlic sauce on the side. A very simple, basic Chinese food order. He told me I could only have white sauce or brown sauce. He refused to make garlic sauce. Perhaps he just wasn't able to, which means I wouldn't want to eat it anyways. Awful place! Avoid this place! There is better Chinese food in Rocky Mount on Sunset Ave or better yet travel to Nashville, NC for the best Chinese food around. read more

I'm always looking for good takeout Chinese food. I'm new to Rocky Mount and this was the first chinese food spot I'd seen so I gave it a try. The woman was very friendly and took my order promptly and the food was ready quickly. When I got in the car the food smelled burnt. I got home to discover the fried rice was overly dry with several charred pieces, the small amount of chicken was dry too. The beef and broccoli order had a single 1-inch square piece of beef and very little broccoli and mostly cabbage chunks. I'm not a picky eater but this meal went in the trash after three bites. read more

Was traveling through the area and most of the places closed by 9PM. China King was open til 10PM so we gave them a try. Ordered the Singapore mi fun & chicken chow mein. Also wonton soup. The food was very fresh & different from the typical Chinese food places I've been used to. After getting used to the difference we ended up liking everything. To give an example I think the wonton soup had some mint in it. Also Singapore Mi fun I think had sprouts and lots of cabbage in it. Strange but it did work for us and would go back. read more

Under new management after the older couple retired. I live across the street and only ordered there when I was lazy and didn't want to drive too far for a meal. Well under the new management the taste in the food has dramatically improved and now order regularly. read more

Food was cold and just didn't taste good, I took my spare ribs back(They were cold to touch) and they just threw them into the deep fryer instead of making them again (even mcdonald's makes you a new order when you receive something wrong) My fried rice had a burnt taste, I hate to give them a bad rating being that they were very nice but nice does not equal great food! read more

Ordered take-out in the restaurant. When i got home, i realized that they had given me the wrong order. When contacted, they refused to correct the mistake or refund the money. I'm a vegetarian and the food contained shrimp, so i couldn't eat it. Money and time wasted. read more
