I love Panera Bread food. I order the same exact carry out and delivery order from the Munster, IN location at least 3-4 times a week through the online app. Unfortunately, the order is wrong just about half of the time. I have always showed great patience as I take the order back to be corrected. In fact, they usually make up for it by giving me a coupon or refunding my order. The one good thing I was able to say about their service is that my order was always ready and on the shelf at the time the app said it would be. Well not anymore. Every time I go there lately, I wait 10-15 minutes past the time it was supposed to be ready. I am fed up now after standing in there for 20 mins and watching people stand in line, order, and receive their meal while I'm still waiting. Many other people were standing around in the confused mess waiting for their pick up orders as well. And I won't even get into the mess out in the parking lot. I had to leave this time without my meal and no time, nor desire to complain. They can keep my money. I will never go back there. I'm not giving up on Panera Bread- just THAT location. read more

The food here is as good as any other Panera, IF they get the order right. Check your food before you leave the drive-through line. They leave pecans or croutons or cheese off my salad nearly every time, or forget to put lettuce on the sandwich. The people working there are often confused about what is on the menu, or how to ring it up. I tried to order a sandwich that had "cheddar" in its title, but without the cheese. I realize that sounds funny, but the other 6 ingredients sounded great; I just didn't want the cheese. It's not an unsual request. The girl behind the register kept telling me there WAS no cheese on the sandwich, and I finally had to point out the giant photograph above her head. They are slow, and the restaurant isn't the cleanest, either, but at least the food tastes good, in terms of quality. read more

I've always been a fan of all things Panera; great soups, salads and sandwiches, but have bought 2 dozen bagels for Bagel Tuesday the last several weeks and its like I'm pulling teeth when I'm ordering, whether its on the phone or in person, I feel like its a major inconvenience to whomever is taking the order and it takes forever! and of late, Panera has had issues with cream cheese on a national level and most of the time, they don't have cream cheese. How hard is it to make a run to Whole Foods and stock up! This location needs remedial training in customer service and common sense. read more

This location (#1426) is very large, upscale, and the only location in the Chicagoland area with a drive-thru. For just opening, everything ran smoothly. It was extremely busy and the lines long, but it was moving fast. I prefer this location to the Schererville location. The only negative is that being located right on Calumet, trying to make a left turn into this place is a major headache. However, the development is nice and with more new places coming, I will embrace the traffic as a good sign! read more

I was super excited when I found out a Panera was coming to Munster, but I have been sorely disappointed since their opening by their service and upkeep of their restaurant. A little friendliness goes a long way, Management! The dining room is always dingy...I have been there different times of the day, and the carpets seem to never be free of crumbs. The staff always seems to be having a bad day. I've yet to meet an employee who I feel is genuinely happy for my business. Also, be aware of the drive thru...my order is rarely 100% correct. Check your bag! I wish I had better words to say about this Panera, but I can't stay silent any longer. Get your act together, Panera! read more

Went in this past Wednesday about 5:30 and the ladies at the counter were very nice, so me and my husband and son ordered, my husband got a half sandwich and soup the turkey sandwich barely had anything on it and the chicken noodle soup was cold and he paid over $10 dollars. read more

Although ey have been asking for my card they are getting worse especially in the drive thru. Do not special order anything I REPEAT do not ask for a substitute or no onions, etc...today I ordered a bread bowl w/chic noodle soup, a Greek salad, and a sandwich. Since I ordered a drink I got a cookie for 99 cents. So, in my bag is a large soup no apples and poppyseed dressing for a Greek salad?! Plus no cookie and I had to remind the window person 2x for my drink for $25!!!! They typically give me a Caesar salad so it was nice to order a Greek one and actually get it. I don't like to go inside because people inside steal wallets-2 people I know and there is a new victim in the Munster police blotter weekly. I went to Panera while visiting family in Munster on Saturday November 26th. It was about 7pm and I decided on the drive thru. It was not busy at all; I was in and out of there in like 5 minutes. I mean, I only ordered a whole ham and cheese sandwich and a bowl of soup. Once I got back to my mothers I noticed that not only did they forget the chips to go with the sandwich, but they forgot the bread to go with the soup. Those are like the 2 main things to go with the meals, how do you forget it? Anyways, I called and talked to the manager and she asked if I could come back within the week. I politely told her that I live out of town and would not be back in the area for at least a few weeks. She then told me that she would send me out a voucher for a free meal. Okay, cool! She went to the trouble of taking my name and address down... Yeah, 2 and 1/2 weeks later I'm still waiting for that voucher. I eat Panera at least twice a week (it's right across the street from my work) and the Chicago location (wacker and Jackson) has never messed up an order. Chances are, I will never go back to the Munster location. read more

If you ever want to start your beautiful Saturday off on the wrong foot, take a trip through this location's drive-thru. 100% of the time, your order will be wrong, or as you hop on the expressway you'll realize they forgot a key utensil or component to your order. Or it will take forever to make your way through. I love Panera, but this drive-thru is one of the worst experiences I've encountered. Ever. I have given them the benefit of the doubt many, many times. Today was my last. Avoid at all costs. Or risk starting your day off crabby, hungry and highly annoyed. read more

I had a wonderful experience today at the Panera in Munster. I am a teacher and my friend ordered for us online and went and picked it up on our plan period. When she got back to school, we realized they had forgotten my grilled cheese. I called and the manager told me to come in and they would give me a free dessert. I explained to her that I was a teacher who couldn't leave school and now had no lunch. A manager drove out my grilled cheese within 10 minutes AND included several treats for my "trouble". I was very impressed with their willingness to go out of their way to satisfy their customers. We will definitely be ordering from this Panera again! read more

I have a couple of gripes with this particular Panera. First off, the parking lot is a complete joke. It is much to small to accommodate the amount of traffic in and out of that place. I am never able to find a spot and most of the time end up parking as far down as Five Guys and walk! Secondly, the drive thru takes FOREVER!!! Now I realize this isn't a full blown fast food joint but come on! With all the people they have working in there you'd think they could pump food out a little quicker! Other than that, haven't really had any other issues with the place. Just not convenient to deal with the whole parking situation. read more

We had a unique situation occur, recently, and this location saved the day! Here's the scenario: We're a private jet charter operation based in Florida, and were in recovery of another flight that was unable to complete a mission, on our behalf. The crew checked into the airport facility where passengers were to arrive in about 45 minutes, only to find out that the flight's catering was cancelled by the other operator. We scrambled in a search, and found this was the closest place that could possibly provide adequate food on short notice. We dispatched a line service tech on the 20 minute drive, while we placed the order. I spoke with the Manager, Emily, who was more than pleasant and accommodating. She told me about several menu items that were similar to our missing catering, including a nice selection of sandwiches, some salads, fruit, and cookies. The driver arrived to a minimal wait, as the food was being finished. I had pre-paid, so quickly he loaded the food and drove back to the airport. The food arrived minutes before the passengers, who were quite hungry and happy to see the nicely plated Panera Bread food. After the fact, I heard from the crew that the food was presented much nicer than most of the on-board catering we receive, and was about 1/4the the price. They forget something every time I go through drive through. I started expecting it so I pull over and check my order now and they never apologize, they just give me whatever they forgot. I have come to expect the poor service and lack of items so now I brace myself for the line at Chipotle a few doors down and Dunkin Donuts up the hill because at least they don't run out of everything by 7 am and correct any errors graciously. read more
