We stopped by here on our way out of town and the employees couldn't have been nicer. They seemed to have more of a morning rush than usual and were falling behind on some times. We waited for quite a while to get our food. Luckily we didn't have anywhere to be. The head employee at the time felt horrible that people were having to wait so long that he went around to each table, apologized for the delays, and gave a cookie. He was one do the most hard working employees and extremely pleasant. We did order food and it came out perfectly along with our coffees. I would recommend going here if you are looking for a little quiet spot to grab a bagel and coffee/tea! read more

The bowl was nasty. Made me gag. Didn't eat another bite. Loved my soup and bread but the salad bowl was less then good. Service was amazing. Ambiance was great! read more

This is one of my favorite locations. The customer service is welcoming and accommodating. Every time I come here, it's always been a relaxing experience. I ordered the strawberry basil refresher and a BLT, avocado and turkey club. The sandwich was delicious (oops! I forgot to take a picture!) and so was the strawberry basil refresher. My chocolate chip cookie was an excellent way to complete my meal. I will be back. read more

Such a bad Panera!! I waited over 45 min for my food for dine-in. Truly a 1/5 experience

First time eating at this location. The service was fast and pleasant. My husband had the bacon avocado on sour dough, which is his favorite. We also got a chicken on focaccia which was very yummy. We used the drive thru because we placed a mobile order. The grounds were clean and menu board was in working order. Will visit again soon. read more

Panera Bread - Bacon Avocado Melt - Sandwiches Near Me - Merrillville, Indiana

Grabbed a green smoothie on the fun email discount, still amazed people drop in here for a small smattering of sodium rich over processed factory sourced foods, crazy lack of value without any matching quality or nutritional content across the menu. The green smoothie and salads are the only decently healthy items but priced like family restaurants. App is easy and gives good customization options. All the payment options online and in store tap to pay is what we all expect. I do have issues with the rewards extending perks and rewards. Five purchases now to get a deal when it used to be three, add up the price gouging, way too easy to drop twenty just for one person which is nuts at this level despite the friendly staff, clean inside, and great location. read more

I entered my ordered through the app but it was not ready as promised because they were experiencing a partial system failure. The drive thru worker was apologetic and friendly. This Panera is located in a very busy plaza so it was crowded, but the line moved quickly. The egg white avocado sandwich is excellent, but on black focaccia bread with chipotle aioli sauce. read more

Great place, great food. I really enjoy the calm atmosphere and the attentive staff.

Rode by when traveling and decided to use the Sip Club free drink. Easy ordering and decent amount of ice on a warm day. Only have Sip Club as a promo offer. Don't use it regularly bc the food and service at my local Panera is awful. I guess there's not much to screw up with an iced tea. read more

Literally took 30 minutes to get 3 breakfast sandwiches and there were barely any people in there. No sense of urgency from the staff what so ever. If you are looking for something quick (which is supposed to be Panera) do not come to this location! read more

The I guess he's a manager but his name is Paul he walked out to the dining room with gloves on grabbed a drink with gloves on went back on the line and never changed his gloves. I'm so glad I don't eat here they don't practice sanitation and someone is going to get sick. Please bring this to their attention totally . I wanted to work here but after seeing this constantly it's a BIG NO for me. read more

I enjoyed the food for the most part the soup was really creamy and very tasteful the grilled cheese sandwich I had was very cheesy and the bread was extremely soft and it just melted in your mouth. I do think it was somewhat overpriced for grilled cheese and soup but nonetheless it still was fulfilling and I enjoyed it. I wanted a whole grilled cheese. I got the two for two for around $10, the server was very nice and patient and helpful in the restaurant was very nice and clean read more

Horrible service. GOD AWFUL. They said they were ready for our order, then we talked and no response. There was zero answer. For about 5 minutes straight. We said hello, and no response until finally 5 minutes later she said give me a second rudely. Like we were inconveniencing her. After this, we had to repeat ourselves multiple times for our order, and the food was cold on top of this. Honestly felt like a movie how bad the service was. Steer clear, I am warning you guys. Not sure if this is one bad experience, but I will NEVER be returning here. read more

I ordered a family meal for breakfast that has 4 sandwiches. There is a place where an employee signs to verify that order was checked, I assume for accuracy. When we got home, there were only 3 sandwiches. They would not make me my missing sandwich but instead will send me a coupon in the mail. So I do not eat because I'm not going to let my wife and kids not eat. Then, to top it off, my son removes the avocado out of his sandwiche because he does not like avocado and the avocado is rotted! I took pics. What happened to you guys? You guys use to provide great food and great service. The last 6-7 years have been anything but a great experience. read more

Panera Bread - ROTTEN AVOCADO ON MY BREAKFAST SANDWICHE!!!! - Sandwiches Near Me - Merrillville, Indiana

This is the worst Panera I've ever been to. They always get my order wrong then argue with me. More than once I've left without my food because I was ignored for 35 minutes waiting on my order. The cafe is always disgusting inside. Even when they are dead. I hate this location. read more

Ugh! Seems like anywhere you go lately, the food is sub par, and the prep work is non-existent. Let me start with this, Panera and McAllister's Deli must train their people at the same place. Because both places in Merrillville, IN are the worst! Both places, my sandwiches come looking like burritos. Both places, put a scoop of chicken salad in the middle of the bread in a big lump. Both places you have to check your spring mix for wilted or slimy pieces. Panera wins for the sloppiest sandwich ever though! The bread was cut with one slice longer than the other, all the chicken salad fell off the sandwich....how does that even happen? read more

This is one of the worst Panera's I've been to. I'm a member of drink club so I've been to many Paneras. I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich and paid extra for extra pickle chips. See photo for what "extra" looks like. LAME! And my sandwich was cold. Nasty. Next the girl making the food had bats in her bat cave. Go blow your nose. Nasty! Next they are out of napkins... go to the dollar store! And last they are out of large cups... ok I understand supply chain issues but why just large cups??? read more

Bacon Double Take was my sandwich. One small thin piece of bacon. Bacon is in the name of the sandwich! It was not busy and the service was slow. They were nice at least. At 9:30 in the morning they had one plain bagel and were out of most types. I love Panera but this one is not on my list of return trips. The only other customer ahead of us let them know that there were no coffee lids. It wasn't until we asked again that they finally brought out some more. read more

Really solid Panera location. Fast service, and the food is always fresh and good. You can order at your table using the Panera app, entering your table number and they will bring the food to your table. Nice dining area and there are plenty of tables near electric outlets for those of us who need to plug in our laptops. read more

The wait times are ridiculously long! They also informed customers that were in line today, "we're not taking anymore orders now. We're all backed up. I'm still waiting for our order and it's been 45 minutes. Also I ordered the Poppyseed chicken salad--they're out of both the mandarin oranges on it, as well as THE POPPYSEED DRESSING! Totally unbelievable! Target carries the poppyseed dressing as well as many grocery stores. Perhaps the manager should have had someone pick up a few bottles of this dressing. We are on route to Carmel, IN and I will avoid this Panera when we drive back home. We have family in Carmel and drive this route frequently! Still waiting for our order! BTW--This is a Thursday. I would hate to see how they handle Saturday lunchtimes! Panera is normally a favorite of ours for lunch. This location isn't one meeting the Panera standard, sadly! read more

The food is good but that makes no difference if customer service is terrible. I wanted to know if they still had breakfast soufflés so I called this location. Someone answered and asked to put me on a brief hold. The brief hold was at 10 minutes before they hung up on me. I called again and they just hung up on me each time. I guess they don't want my business. read more

Using the Panera app I ordered the bakers dozen bagels Monday night for Tues 1:00 pickup. I received feedback that order was placed and paid for. I arrived at Panera on time after feedback that my order was ready for pick up. I couldn't find my order, requested help from two employees, got bounced around, and finally escalated to a supervisor. She found my order and handed me a box with only 3 bagels in it. No other bagels in house to complete order. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE CONSIDERING I USED THEIR APP AHEAD OF TIME. My money was refunded ( big deal!) I deleted my Panera app and will no longer patronize Panera. This same thing happened at the Valpo Panera last year. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me! So this frustrated patron is out! read more

Good was very good as always. The turkey avocado sandwich and green goddess salad always my fav.

Clean tables always a challenge. Lately, "Bold" coffee has been watered down to point it has no coffee taste whatsoever. Like dishwater. Sandwiches have been good. Counter help has stopped asking about sides choice, so get potato chips. Seems management is cutting corners on costs. read more

I love Panera, but this location is an absolute mess. First of all, the store itself was very dirty, the floor was sticky, and the bathrooms were dirty and didn't have soap. My shoes literally stuck to the floor and it looked like they had not cleaned this location in years. The employees were very rude and dismissive, and they were chatting amongst themselves. The assistant manager lady was very rude and was dismissive when we asked how long it would be. They were working on making catering lunch sandwiches instead of everyone's breakfast orders. One woman had been waiting for 20 minutes while they made lunch sandwiches for later in the day. I am not sure why they would be making sandwiches for later in the day when people are waiting for their current orders. I would never recommend visiting this location. They need new management, a deep clean, and better organization. read more

Food is great and the options seem almost endless when you are trying to decide :) Very pleasant counter help and quick delivery of our order to the table. Why 4 stars vs 5? Parking lot is just not ideal. If you park on the side where the drive through snakes along, pray you can get out (very odd set up). I was baffled by the screen prompt - asking did I want to tip the counter help and the amount. Can't say I've ever seen it on a payment screen. Put out a tip jar, I'm happy to oblige but the prompt on the screen, it just is well - bizarre. Portion size/pricing - Dear Panera, love your food and love the options. My pick 2 salad was generous, the half sandwich a bit pricey and $30ish for two - soup/sandwich and salad/sandwich, I suppose it is okay but too me just a tad bit high. I'll be back of course and overall a pleasant experience. read more

I like the fact the food has no food additives, some of the desserts are good but the customer service I recieve from some of the managers is horrible. The manager that has on purple everytime I come in she's yelling at someone or talking to me like she doesn't have any sense. She clearly needs a stress leave or someone needs to replace her because she does the absolute most! The guy manager Terry is non social, doesn't smile, doesn't ask you how you're doing, just pathetic to sum it up. He'll put your dessert in your bag with no napkins or flatware. We spend so much money at Panera you would think they can have some better attitudes! If you goof balls don't want to work there why don't you do us all a favor and quit. SIMPLE!!!!!!! I get better treatment from other Cashiers rather than the managers smh read more

I stop by this place for lunch often and the food is hit or miss. Sometimes my flatbread pizza is warm, sometimes cold. The sandwiches and soups are pretty good. The bread is tough and chewy. This surprised me. It actually hurts my jaw to chew the bread sometimes, especially on the Modern Caprese. I also bought a French baguette to make a sub sandwich at home and felt I would pull my teeth out to chew it. I warmed it in the oven, which made it softer but it was still tough to chew. This is the only place with bread that's so unappealing. Even my home baked bread is better. I do like that they use natural and healthy ingredients. That's the only saving grace. The sweets are too sugary, especially the vanilla cinnamon roll. They really need to decrease the sugar. read more
