I do pick up orders only as I plan my day ahead of time and when I do this the pickup location is very inconsistent. It's either behind the cashier or at the pickup sign or on a pickup table. It's extremely tough to get anyones attention for help also. It seems they are all trying to avoid customers so it's a matter of looking for my order myself which is not fun. My phone says "go to rapid pickup" which again, it's probable that it won't be there so it's a little annoying. So many times I've sat and waited and the food has been sitting somewhere getting cold. I know it's a pandemic and EVERYONE is short staffed so everyone is overworked but come on. What's the point of rushing people through the drive thru when you're already slow for business and you don't want to work fast. They literally ask me after everything I say, "is that all?" It's been a while since I've been here... Things seem to have changed, sadly for the worse. While the cashier was pleasant, she had to do a lot! She took the orders and made the drinks and got the food. However a manager was walking about with a clip board for some reason as the line got longer and longer. She should have helped out. Eventually, an older employee, who seemed to doing something for herself, was asked to offer assistance. I don't know when the Panera in Matteson is open or closed. This entire month has been weird in terms of their hours and they have not updated their hours on their website or on the store door. Whenever I've gone there, in the afternoon might I add, the doors have been locked and I've heard others say the same thing. I used to call all the time to speak with a manager (BECAUSE THEY WOULD ALMOST ALWAYS SCREW UP MY ORDER, AND BTW THE ONE IN TINLEY PARK HAS ALSO SCREWED UP MY ORDER--BOTH HAVE GOOD FOOD, BUT PLEASE CHECK YOUR BAG) and someone would pick-up, but now no one answers the phone. NOT SAFE FOR VEGETARIANS/VEGANS. I ordered a Greek salad, no dressing. First time around, they put dressing on it, so I took it back and got a new one. The second salad was mostly correct, but as I started looking at it, I found several tiny chunks of chicken in it. There's not even supposed to be chicken in the Greek salad. As a vegetarian, I was appalled at the level of cross-contamination and carelessness. I work in an office in downtown Chicago and attempted to place an order using the Rapid Pick Up service online. I inadvertently placed an order to this location. In all honestly, I'm not even sure how it happened. I hit the 'back' button to fix my order and somehow placed it at the wrong location. I immediately called Panera and they transferred my call to this location. I explained my situation to the employee who answered the phone. I was transferred to the manager. He asked me if I lived in the area and if that's how I accidentally placed the order for their location. I told him that I live nowhere near Matteson and that I live in Vernon Hills, which is about 65 miles from Matteson. In all honestly, I hadn't even heard of Matteson until I accidentally sent my order to this Panera. He was super nice and extremely understanding. He told me he'd cancel my order and refund the money to my credit card. He asked for me credit card number. I double-checked to make sure my information would be destroyed after he credited my account. He confirmed that it would. My account was credited without any issue. Four solid stars for excellent customer service and helping me out after I'd made my mistake. read more

I really enjoy Panera Bread's food though it's a bit over priced. But this location is the worst Panera Bread to visit for pick-up. My coworkers and I have visited this location several times only to be disappointed with the service. Although most of the employees at this location are friendly, the service is subpar. We order from this location because it's closest to the our place of employment. It's easier for us to order online and pick up than to eat in the restaurant. We have had multiple wrong orders, once 2 weeks in a row. The manager on duty was apologetic the first time and offered to replace the food. It happened again we call and the manager was not as understanding. We clearly had proof of what we order and proof we didn't receive what we ordered. We stopped visiting the location for a while but I want to give them another try...bad decision!! Here's Panera messing up the order of soup and sandwiches again. It was a downpour when my boyfriend and I stopped in last Sunday. I had to run out to the car twice to get stuff. The employees were so empathetic towards me. They were very helpful and offered me napkins to dry off. I used to work at a Panera back in the day so I could tell that the guy preparing the food was new. He was painfully slow at prepping the few orders that were placed and I was pretty surprised that they made each sandwich to order since I knew that in preparation for lunch rush, it wasn't uncommon to pre-make a few of the more popular sandwiches and store them in the warmer. This location is pretty close to my office. Sometime, I love to go over and have some coffee. They have the free wif so you can bring your laptop and do some work and enjoy some bottomless coffee. The prices are not that bad for the Chicago area. Matteson is a wasteland of businesses that have turned belly up but the shopping center this Panera is in is breathing....for now. The staff was very good and efficient. I wouldn't hesitate to go back for a coffee break or lunch/supper. read more

The older woman at the register was very rude. We were very patient in placing our order and tried to be kind as she made us repeat our order 3 or more times. She had a very condescending tone towards us the whole time. The "coffee" as others have said in reviews below was flavorless and completely watered down. We waited an abnormal amount of time for our food. We ordered one toasted bagel and one sausage, egg, and cheese on an Asiago bagel sandwich. Only to bite into the sandwich and find the cheese paper still in it and some wierd green plastic still on top. Paneras marketing also needs too list when there are condiments or spreads in the food description. It was not pleasing to find a garlic aioli spread globed on my breakfast sandwich when it was not advertised. It was a cold day in Indiana. I needed something to warm me up and I don't drink coffee. Soup it is. I have never had one of their bread bowls so that's what I got. Creamy tomato and it was rich and thick. One thing though. I love bread, so don't get me wrong. But I had the bowl, the chunk they took out of the middle. The croutons and then he ripped off the end of a french bread. Was he trying to get a date? I ate every bit of it and it hit the spot. Without a drink it came in at under 5 bucks. That's not bad. I would have given it 5 stars but the same B.S. complaint. At 10:30 all the best seats are taken by the laptop crowd. And the only thing in front of them is an iced tea or a small coffee.
