Came here on a Friday afternoon, pretty busy. I got a broccoli and cheddar soup and then a grilled cheese and tomato soup. Food took about 10 min to come out, when it did, I was surprised about the portions, thought they would be bigger. The soups were both good, wish there was more of it though. The grilled cheese was alright, not bad not the greatest. Only negative was the bread they give you with the soups, was like a rock, I barely could bite into it without hurting myself, was even hard to pull apart. It was stone cold, wish they would've at least tossed it into a microwave to heat it up a bit. I would definitely opt for the chips instead of the bread. read more

I ordered a simple hot tea here and was handed a cup with 15 tea bags in it -- no joke. That's not service, that's confusion with a side of chaos. This isn't the first time this location has messed up basic orders, and honestly it's frustrating when you just want a drink without a weird surprise. I go to the Panera in Lansing's Frandor all the time. It's my go to place. The food is delicious. Well-prepared, fresh and quickly served. It's a place filled with sit down regulars. Plus there's always students and folks grabbing a quick to go. My sons always give me a Panera gift card for Christmas or Mother's Day. They know I will always be pleased. I ordered 18 bagels sliced & toasted via app for drive through pick up on a Friday morning, order was to be ready at 6:57am via app. I arrive at 7:15am. The staffer tells me the order is getting ready. Well I'm surprised at that but said nothing. She ask me to park in spot 2. I wait for 5 min. Another staffer comes out with the bagels, but oh they are not sliced and toasted! At this point I'll be late to work if I wait any longer. No apology for inconvenience was given. Number one. When you order your food at the counter, you then sit down and wait to be called up to get it. Number two. When paying the bill upfront, they ask first what you want to "tip "why should I have to tip anybody? I picked up my own food. All they did was prepare it - that is their job -- that did not sit well with me. Number three. I ordered soup and half a sandwich. The tuna was delicious the bread they put it on did not hold up well. The tuna was falling off in the plate. The bread if you wanna call at that, with the soup was a hard club role that you can barely bite into. I nearly broke my teeth and my jaw. I ordered a cup of tomato soup, which by the way was delicious, but the cup of soup that I received, was a half a cup. I decided to come to this location for my lunch break. I arrived and got in line. They do have an area where you can complete your order on your own, but I like the line. No one was in line too, which was nice. The ladies at the register were funny, friendly, and super helpful. They made me aware of a free reward that was going to be expiring in 2 days, which I did not know about! They suggested a try this chocolate type of pastry and I listened (it was deicious and fresh). My food came out in a timely manner as well. I filled my drink and waited about 10 minutes or less for my food. I then drove back to my training locatoion (about 19 minutes away). My food was still hot and fresh. I got the chicken tortellini. The chicken was super fresh tasting, and the pasta was delicious. My cookie was super soft as well. I was too full to have the chips so I saved them. I also tried my free chocolate type of pastry. It was amazing, and too filling. I could not finish. Stopped at 5:30 on a Friday. Not too busy, but only one person taking orders. The most incredible person was standing near me, just waiting as people were lining up. They say to me"do you know what you want? I'm punched out (they had no uniform shirt or name tag)but I can still take an order. I ran behind them as they went around the counter, took my order in record time! All out of the goodness of their heart! I was out in no time. This place has become one of my go-tos during Covid. Yes, the sandwiches could have a bit more meat & cheese, but they are far better than they used to be. And having delivery for something that feels much healthier than pizza is a bonus. They're often out of certain ingredients, but that's to be expected when everything is actually fresh & not preserved. And all the food is so delicious! It's a little annoying that when you order delivery, they seem to always go in order of time ordered, as I always watch them drive 20 min out of the way to deliver somewhere else before mine, 3 blocks from the store. Ordered for a corporate lunch - no one answered when I called for the carry out. Went inside and two girls were talking about how one of them only had $11 in her bank account.. never acknowledged me standing at the counter until I interrupted them. I wouldn't usually choose Panera to begin with but I was in a hurry and my you pick two salad was whatever but the sandwich chicken was fully uncooked stringy and stretchy chicken skin. Gross. I love all Paneras....this one is great because it sits right amongst several stores that I frequent...like World Market, Kroger and many others. Like all of their locations ...the service and environment is great. The place is always hopping! I always end up buying bread here...always Sourdough, Ciabatta or Asiago. The restaurant was filthy- not just from a busy day we are talking months-maybe years since it has been cleaned! The food was a joke I ordered a "steak" sandwich that had so little meat on it had I weighed it it wouldn't have registered on a scale! My partner ordered a chicken sandwich same thing! Not once has this store gotten my rapid pickup order right. Today, I ordered a whole Southwest Chili Lime Ranch salad with two modifications off the app. When I got home and opened my food, almost half of the toppings were missing! I don't understand why it's so difficult for the employees to read mods off the screen, or how you could interpret 'no toppings' from no chicken and extra avocado. It's extremely frustrating to overpay for a salad as it is, and then receive 75% lettuce in the bowl and not even get half the ingredients. First time here and likely the last. This place was clean and fast paced. You order at the counter and they give you a device where the food is brought to your table. The menu is very confusing. I ordered a pick 2 where it should have been $6 and change. The total was over $10. When questioning the guy said everyone is confused by that pricing and he attempted to explain it but could not. Hello, if your own staff don't understand it...change it...A tip was asked for on the receipt even before you are..ummm heck NO..that is something that is earned.. the wait was average the amount of food was average that taste was above average. Biggest disappointment. Brought a visitor to this location and was quite embarrassed. There were 4 patrons in total, so not a rush. First, we had to adjust both of our orders because they were out of the basic components of each order. When we attempted to find a seat, ALL tabletops were filthy (mind you, there were only 4 of us in the joint), and we had to ask to have our table bussed. The whole place looked filthy. Plus, my mango smoothie was clearly not that; tasted and looked like a purely banana smoothie. And they suggested a remedy of less yogurt, as if that would solve the problem. Oy. As far as I can tell, all Panera's have the same pretty decent food. Pretty much all around decent food for a bakery chain type place. I like their egg souffles. Bagels and such are reasonable. Soup and sandwiches are hit or miss. Good fresh baked bread. As a student looking for a place to study Pros: -really a bunch of tables -free drink refills -free wifi Cons: -at times it is super BUSY -not as many outlets as one would like -it can be pretty loud at times -while the wifi is free, during busy times Panera may limit you to a half hour For an OK place to study and predictable food, I would give this Panera 3 stars. However, on more than one occasion I have seen the staff be very kind to people who seem to be less fortunate or in some way vulnerable. I have observed the staff to know the names of folks who are only there for water and a place to sit down. In one case I saw a seemingly developmentally disabled adult drawing pictures for various staff members, who graciously accepted them. They do a good job hiring people here who have a high level of human decency. read more
