If I could give zero stars, I would. I placed an order online for delivery for a small meeting downtown. The scheduled delivery window was 12:30-12:45. At about 1:00 I tried calling the store for a delivery update. No answer after several tries. Then I received a call from the delivery person stating that her GPS was broken and she couldn't find our office...which is on West Market in a building that has the street number prominently displayed. She hung up before I could explain how to find us. Our food arrived at 2:15...fifteen minutes after our meeting ended. The sandwiches were soggy and the soups were definitely in the danger zone temperature-wise. The next day, I received an email from Panera letting me know my order was out for delivery. read more

We were in a hurry on the way back to Chicago early p.m. Luckily it wasn't crowded when I walked in. The staff were very friendly and considerate of my unfamiliarity with the menu. Our food was quickly prepared and packed up for takeout. The sandwiches (Cuban and Bacon/Cheese/Tomato) were EXCELLENT, and the croissants (chocolate and almond) were SUPERB! Looks like it would be a good place to eat in, and I can understand how it would be so popular as to get super-busy. I enjoyed my experience and appreciated the friendliness of the staff. I work downtown, but have tended to avoid this location because it's been busy during lunch time when I walk by and I don't have time to stand in line. But my most recent trip may change that if it's the norm. Gone are the long lines to wait for an employee to take your order, they now have kiosks where you can order on the screen and just sit and wait. Makes things much easier. The Pick 2 is a great lunchtime deal - not too filling and not very expensive compared to other places. Service is courteous when they bring out your food, and they'll bring everything right to your table. Really impressed by this setup and definitely giving them another try next time! read more

I absolutely love Panera. My bank account tells me I can eat it everyday, but when I do I typically go with the pick two: broccoli cheddar soup w/ a French baguette and Chipotle Chicken Sandwich. This time I ordered the Fuji Apple Salad with Chicken and a Chocolate Chipper Cookie. The salad was very fresh and contained chicken, gorgonzola, pecans, arugula, red onions, wedge tomatoes, and apple crisps. The cookies was covered in chocolate chips! Just amazing!!! Things to know: 1. If you go to the downtown mall location in Indianapolis just remember that parking may be an issue so plan accordingly. 2. The Fuji Apple Vinegarette is out of this world. Apparently you can purchase it in stores so I will most certainly be on the look out for it! I used it as a dipping sauce for my French baguette and it was delicious. read more

This Panera is consistently bad. Everytime I place an order there is a pretty good chance they are going to screw it up. You want your bagels unsliced? You're going to get then sliced and toasted. You wanted to customize your order? You're going to get the standard preparation and you'll like it. Your order is supposed to be st rapid pickup? Better go find it yourself while the staff sits in the back chatting in an empty resteraunt. And don't worry, if you complain you'll get a free cookie, which to them makes everything better. I always have a solid experience with any Panera location, so decided to check this one out for a quick lunch. There was a bit of a line, maybe about 20 people ahead of me, but moved swiftly and the overall wait time was only a few minutes. I went with the turkey avocado BLT and broccoli cheddar soup, two of my favorites and without fail, just as delicious as previous experiences at other locations. This has been my least favorite Panera experience. The restaurant was dirty. The floor needed to be cleaned, multiple tables were dirty as well. We came in and started our orders at the touch screen kiosks and got to the end to realize there were no pagers available to use. My total at the kiosk would have been around $13. I ordered the exact same thing from the cashier and ended up paying over $14. I ordered a large drink and later realized I received a water cup. They had no pagers, so an employee was calling out orders. We could see my partner's order was finished, but the employee was texting and didn't call it out for about 5 minutes. Picked up soup and bread bowls to-go. It was early enough where they were serving the lunch menu but hadn't flipped everything on the menu boards over. I wish I could give this Panera zero stars. This is by far the most poorly run Panera I have ever been to. Yesterday we walk in the order and they were "not taking orders" because they were so backed up. Figured something must just be going on that day so we came back the next day. Ordered one single salad and waited AN HOUR for it. There were 20-30 people just standing around waiting for their food and absolutely no progress being made. I don't know if the workers were just taking a break or incompetent or what but i've never experienced anything like this. read more

Recently discovered their smoothies, and while I don't normally go for anything with concentrates, I'm forgiving after having had the berry smoothie here. They put fresh yogurt in it and I am not sure what else, but this has surprisingly become my favorite place for a smoothie. Spendy, but yummy. About $4. read more

Pamela with the catering at this location is by far the definition of amazing customer service. She absolutely went above and beyond and took care of my order for the next day. I would choose to place an order with her specifically over dealing with another breakfast catering or group order business. If you need catering and Panera is an option make sure you ask for Pamela. I arrived at 7:10 11/20/22 with the gate still down, figured they may just still be getting ready so I waited an additional 40 minutes outside until I decided to give them a call. Dirtiest Panera I have been to in a while. As well as getting my order wrong for a simple Greek salad having it served as a modern Greek salad. Not a major difference but when you want one thing and it's not what you ordered it's annoying. All in all since my first experience with Panera way back in 2000 the food service and quality has dropped gradually over the years I used to love to eat there and then the quality deteriorated to the point I eat Panera 2-3 times a year. I wanted to love this Panera as much as I love all other Paneras...but this was just a sad experience. The line was incredibly long so I wanted to use the kiosk. Nope, the kiosks were down. Okay, so I did the "Order to Table" option on the app. Waited 25-30 minutes, still no food. Our friends that arrived 10 minutes after us and waited in line had already received their food. I went up to the counter to ask what was taking so long, and they asked what I ordered, as my name wasn't on the screen. Magically, the guy said my name was now the "next" order. Okay, great. Wait 5 more minutes and they bring the food to our table. I ordered a baguette as a side. Nope, they gave me an apple. They gave me this TINY salad - this is a half salad bowl and it's not even HALF full! Seriously? Not even remotely worth the $5 a half salad costs. It was gone in about 4 bites. I also asked for no cucumber, pickled onions, extra arugula - tons of cucumbers, no pickled onions, barely any arugula (or anything else, for that matter). Nothing was completed the way I ordered. We had now been there for almost 45 minutes and had a meeting to get back for, so I had no time to ask for them to remake it. After how long our food took in the first place, I couldn't risk it. This is quite possibly the worst Panera I've ever been to. If it wasn't close to my office, I would never go. On my most recent visit, I ordered an asiago cheese bagel with plain cream cheese as my to-go order. While I was swiping my loyalty card and my credit card, the employee just walked away from the transaction and disappeared for almost 10 minutes and never came back. This was a solid location when we were there. Despite the cashier being somewhat clueless about the menu, the order was correct, and it came out in a timely manner. Lots of selection, although I think the "Pick 2 / Half / Full" designations and prices next to the sandwiches is a bit confusing. I figured out what it meant - I don't come to Panera that often - but it took a bit. Our food came out fairly quickly and they tasted good. We had the Frontega Chicken Panini, the Summer Corn Chowder, and the Chipotle Chicken Avocado Melt. The space was clean. I always love their fireplaces and it was nice to sit near one. This location is one location you do not want to visit to experience the Panera culture. Unsure if it's lack of leadership, training, initiative, or a combo of all but it lacks that luster. Working downtown I have visited it on a few occasions hoping it would be different but yesterday just was a total turn off. Watched the employee just check off the receipts and not verify contents, food was cold and messy, baguette was hard (could of been used as a weapon) the vibe was as if I visited the McDonald's on 38th and Lafayette Rd. No appreciation in time management and the conversations happening on the line were vulgar, soup wasn't worth it, I'll bring my Campbell's in a can read more

The food here is standard Panera, no complaints there, but this place is a disaster every day at lunch time and it's even worse when there's an event or convention. It is obviously understaffed and poorly organized. Today it took nearly 30 minutes to get my Rapid Pickup Order of One Cafe Mocha. Two of the last three times I got a Rapid Pick Up lunch order it was altogether wrong. Two of the last three lunches took so long I finally had to ask for them, and two of the last four times they didn't have one of the items I'd ordered on the app- one was a cookie the other a soup. There are more than 200 restaurants downtown, and every one except Panera is able to handle a regular daily lunch crowd with poise and efficiency. Save yourself some time and frustration and go get your overpriced sandwich elsewhere. read more

Wow, this location is a mess. Went in for a workday lunch at the height of the lunch hour. As we were waiting in line, a guy wearing a Panera General Manager shirt walked in front of us to the cooler area. I assumed he was checking on stock, getting something for a customer or some similar customer related activity. Nope, he grabbed all of the catering brochures out of the holder and tossed them into the trash as he walked away. Several minutes later (while we were still waiting to order) he came back with new brochures. Um yea, that's a priority activity *in the middle of the lunch rush!* After we finally ordered they gave us one of those buzzer things and said the food will be delivered to the table. Don't know when that started as we still have to go and pick up food at my local Panera but hey we'll go with it. Twenty minutes later we got our food - yes, TWENTY! This was after waiting almost 10 minutes to order. From what I can tell there were two people prepping food and at least two serving. Also this entire time there were at least ten people up at the counter waiting on food. The gal who served us was quite apologetic, I'll give her that. Where was that manager during all of this? Who knows. The entire time I kept looking for him to step up and maybe help with food prep or free up one of the servers to prep food. Nope. No leadership whatsoever - I finally saw him deliver one sandwich. Unbelievable. The food was typical Panera - can't complain there. However, the final blow was my companion went to refill an iced tea as we were leaving - you guessed it, empty. While I enjoy Panera, this location is permanently off my list for their bizarre system which seems to only slow things down and for management who can't seem to step up and facilitate service. read more

I didn't buy anything here. I tried to. See, I'm staying across the street at the Hyatt for a few days, but between wedding-related festivities I really needed to get some work done, which requires internet. The free wifi available in the Hyatt lobby is AOL-dial-up-level slow, and I was unwilling to pay $9.95 to get a few hours of connectivity. So across the street to Panera I went, and ordered a large coffee to both perk me up and make me at least a little less of a mooch. When I pulled out the only bill I had (a $20), the nice man at the counter said "I don't want you to have to break this ... have a great day!" and gave it back to me. I was astounded. It seems a little strange to have a location in the heart of downtown...but yet it makes perfect sense with it being connected to Circle Centre Mall. Since I quit smoking I find myself with a lot more time on my hands when I am on break at work. So, I decided that I would enjoy my lunch break here at Panera. I have been here many times before, but usually grabbed my food and headed back to the store. It's been awhile and I noticed most of the staff was different from what I saw before. Sadly, they had the same customer service as the previous people. Its pretty half assed. My food came out quickly, which surprised me. Maybe they weren't as busy as I thought they were. The bread of my sandwich wasn't as toasted as I am used to. It still tasted good, just not what I was expecting. Every time I have gone in there, the place is clean. My issue is always the staff. I work downtown so I eat here pretty frequently. I almost always do pick-up orders, and 2 or 3 times in the past my order has been wrong. Last week, my coworker came here for a coffee and she thought it tasted off and got extremely sick -- apparently it had been made with expired milk. Even after this, I decide to go for dinner and order a caprese sandwich and an apple. I am given a very obviously rotten apple and my simple sandwich is missing the main ingredient -- mozzarella. So I bring it all up front where a man in a red button up takes it and says he'll remake it. Only two stars because we love Panera, but this location has extremely poor service. We've dined in and attempted carry out. Our dine in experience was just horrible. The cashier had a poor attitude. When asked about one of the menu options, she lacked on providing the proper information. Our food took a little longer than usual. Our carry out experience was even worse. We placed an order to this location since we live within the downtown area. When we went to pick it up, they said they were closed and that I would be refunded my money. I had placed my order before you closing time, which is at 7pm and not 8pm which what is listed on Yelp. I stopped in to get a frozen caramel mocha. That.Is.It. Usually when I get a drink the cashier just makes it for me and I am on my merry way. Not this time. First of all, the person who took my order did not look at me and at first it seemed like she didn't know what it was that I was ordering. She did not thank me or give any kind of interaction other than what was necessary to take my money. A minute after I order I heard a frozen drink being made, but I could not assume it was mine. I stand around waiting with a crowd of other unhappy looking customers waiting for their food. People are bumping into each other as they come by to look for their food or try to fill their coffee. As staff are moving bags of food from the counter to the cubbies where people who pre-ordered can pick up, they do not call out any names. This causes more mass chaos as hungry customers approach to see if they are the lucky ones. After a 13 minute wait I hear, "Frozen mocha" and see a drink being placed on the counter. I go for the drink but want to be sure it is what I ordered so I ask: "Is this a CARAMEL mocha?" "HUH?!" "I ordered a caramel mocha. Is this just a mocha?" She picks up the drink and says, "That's what's on the top!" (referring to the drizzle) "I see, but is that what is INSIDE?" "HUH?!" "Is there caramel AND mocha INSIDE the drink?" She cocks her head, raises her brows, and bulges her eyes, "IT IS!" Fine. I take the drink and walk out. It is melted. Apparently that drink that was made over 10 minutes ago WAS mine. I give 5 stars because my experience was beyond great. Yes I was there in the middle of the afternoon after the lunch rush. The staff were friendly and all working very hard. The employee suggested the chicken avocado BLT which was delicious. Bread was fresh, the lettuce tomato and avocado was extremely fresh. Chicken could have been more seasoned however that's not allowed in public restaurants because of the public's many health issues. The restaurant itself was very clean considering the construction going on next door to them. I had a wonderful healthy lunch for under $10. Also it was such a hot day and the mall was not very cool but this restaurant was very cool. The owner obviously cares about the comfort of his customers and employees. I will return. read more

It would have not been so bad but when I went up to talk with the lady at the ordering counter she said they would take care of me. I paid for my bagel and cream cheese. The manager came over and said they could get me more soup but argued that she personally had checked the soup and it was up to temp. Thought I was in for a good Panera experience. But the sandwich I ordered was mostly bread, with the chicken salad piled in the middle. And piled is a mild word. For the price, there should have been two scoops of chicken salad. The pickle they served with the sandwich was, ok you're joking right, nothing shy of pathetic. Where do you guys get your deli pickles? 7-11? Please take note from some low cost delis who have decent pickles. They're not expensive, even for Panera! I'm torn between the 5-star effort of the employees and the 1-star results that I received. Tried their Rapid Pick-Up for the first time today at lunch (it's their online order and pick up in the store feature). I'm pretty excited at this point: I can ask for extra lettuce on my salad without the risk of the employee behind the counter giving me a dirty look (like an extra handful of chopped romaine is coming out of his paycheck). Panera also tells me when it will be ready to pick up, so I can immediately skip to the head of the line when I get there. Today I ordered at 12:40 and they gave me a 1:10 pick up time. So far, everything is Awesome! ...or not awesome. I get there at 1:07 and there are at least 50 hungry people waiting in the pick up area for their food. I squeeze my way through the crowd to find that my food isn't ready. And my name isn't one of the 20+ names on the Up Next board. The employee I track down is very helpful in expediting my order but...the food arrives 20 minutes late, there is no butter for the baguette, no extra lettuce in the salad, no extra tomatoes, and no extra bacon (paid an extra $1 for this nonexistent bacon).
