I was at the Waterford CT store, and it took forever, over 30 minutes, for a simple lunch. Second experience with c receiving barely warm F ood. Not good when it's soup! Not one of the better Panera experiences I've ever had. This place is not particularly clean. Tables with sticky grease and drink residue. Service is fairly fast. However, we did a mobile order and the Chicken Frontega sandwich was squashed quite a bit. Not sure what they did with it for that to happen. Lastly, the staff is constantly yelling across the place. Yelling at other employees, yelling jokes to each other, yelling out orders, yelling and laughing. Not something I'm accustomed to seeing at what's typically a chill dining experience at most Panera locations. Going to pick a different location on the return trip. read more

Ok there's been gimmicks before but I really fell for the French dip. It's truly a crappy sandwich that wouldn't be good from McDs. If you order the whole it's a 3" role that they just give you two of, with about 30cents worth of meat that's cut up into bits & pieces, then they give you half a cup of French soup, that's not what it should be. So Paneras Panera. I don't expect "fine cuisine" but a good bagel or croissant. Saturday am place was empty. Ordered a sausage egg and cheese sandwich and asked it would take a while. Took a bit for her to even answer. Oh well. And the wait was ok. Not awful. But the black ice tea has a fruity flavor. Ok I an deal. But definitely not straight black ice tea. Only complaint is or more so concern is the lady who took our order (maybe her name was Mel?) was very much out of it. Her eyes keep closing as if she was falling asleep. She had a hard time taking our simple order. They were out of bagette so the manager said sub it out with a side. After we paid she said I just need to cut the sour dough bread... and she grabbed a loaf of sour dough and stood there for a few minutes (really did) almost falling asleep and not knowing what to do or what she was doing with the bread she shoved it in a plastic bag and handed it us... Walked in with my husband, nobody greeted us even though there was a girl named Xiomara right at the register. She finally acknowledged us with "hi" and looked super irritated that she had to help us. I proceeded to say hello how are you tonight?" She ignored me and said "what do you want". I give it a 4 out of 5 because when I ordered the Toasted steak and white cheddar, it had pickled onions in it. It said nothing about pickled onions. Favorite spot for yummy healthy food. Staff are always kind, pleasant, and accommodating. I love that their self-serve drink station provides some nutritional information about sugar content to help you make healthy decisions. I'll just throw out a recommendation that restaurants who offer specialty coffee drinks (e.g., cappuccinos) on their menus need to thoroughly train their baristas how to make their drinks properly, or don't offer it at all. I don't think I've ever had a properly prepared cappuccino at a Panera (this location included) that wasn't a coffee-flavored big gulp of warm milk. But I'll keep coming back for the healthy food. Been to one Panera Bread and you've (kinda) been to them all. This particular Panera had 3 registers working during a weekday lunch hour and there was no wait to place my order. This is usually my biggest gripe about Panera. The food and the overall customer service was typical - friendly and filling. Why I didn't give this Panera 5 stars was due to the lack of chicken on my salad. Panera doesn't put enough on so I always order extra (I prefer extra protein and forgo the chips/baguette). It's a $1.79 up charge, but it's worth it to keep from getting hangry before dinner. The last few Panera bread locations I have been to have given me EXTRA chicken. It was obvious that I had paid for more. This place did not. In the grand scheme of things, it's a $1.79 lost and it's just a small handful of extra chicken I did not receive - not like I found a finger in it. But for those of you watching your protein intake or counting pennies - don't bother ordering extra, or if you do just make sure you get extra chicken. *note: I did not go back up to the counter and complain or ask for more, and I am sure they would have accommodated. This review isn't about the customer service - more about the order as is. I would come back here and eat at this location again. I will make a judgement call the next time as to whether or not I need to say something. *****update***** Since I am a creature of habit I ordered the same thing. Excellent service, I ordered bagels drinks & a 1/2 salad for my daughter and I. The salad came out with chicken on it by accident- I guess the order was incorrect and I didn't realize it when I paid. They quickly made a new salad and an employee unexpectedly brought me the difference of what I mistakenly overpaid right to our table. When it comes to quick takeout fast food, Panera is definitely one of healthiest options. This particular branch is very nice to go to. read more

This Panera location is my favorite, hands down. I come here every time I'm visiting the Naval Base in Groton. Their turkey and avocado BLT, mac 'n cheese, and soups are always delicious. This place should not be allowed to carry the name of Panera. The name should be Pamera or Panega as in it is trying to pass as a knock-off brand of Panera, like a cheap knock-off Coach purse. Even after being shut down during Covid for renovations it re-opened no different than when it had shut down. Sure, some aesthetics were different, but it was like putting lipstick on a pig. The attitude and care of the staff making the food might as well be in the same pit with the said lipsticked sow. Not once in the past dozen times I have ordered for delivery or carry out have they gotten the order right. Yes, literally a dozen times. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment expecting Panera to get it right once. The very definition of insanity. They are always out of essential items for dinner due to poor product management. Food for delivery or carry-out is never double-checked despite the receipt being marked. Requested customizations are never accurate, but why would I expect them to be when they can't get non-customized orders. The bacon is disgusting, enough said. Don't waste your time with this version of Pamer... uhh Panera. The store in Waterford, CT is several times better and should not even be associated in name with this knock-off hack. If you are near this particular store on Hwy 12 in Groton, CT and want something healthier then do yourself a favor and avoid this place and go right across the road to Pick Pockets. Ahh Panera Bread.. Always a great choice. This location (like all I've been to) offered free wifi and had some of the fastest service i've seen.. The manager was VERY helpful to the staff and costumers even filling drink orders to keep things moving. The lounge was clean and tables were kept up as diners departed. The RR was maintained pretty good too. All i can say is Bravo Zulu Panera.. I'll definitely be back.. ** Don't forget to get a Panera Card.. Every little point/credit adds up.. read more

Speedy service, great food, friendly staff, clean restaurant. What more could you want? They also have free wifi. This month (August), it's half off frozen drinks between 3-5. I may have stopped in a few times. They also have the strawberry poppyseed chicken salad back and it's delicious! If you sign up for the Panera card, you get a free pastry on your next trip. I was never a big Panera fan living out in California but the folks at this location are genuinely nice folks and the food is great. Not this first time I've been here, but never an actual bad experience....but never a great experience except last time when I walked in 5-10mins before closing (I actually thought they closed an hour later. This was shortly after they started closing an hour earlier.) Service was always better right before closing; however, the food was very subpar. It was cold and mediocre at best. Came here tonight 2+ hours before closing (I made sure this time.) and the food was MUCH better, but service tended to be a bit more "laissez faire"! I really enjoy coming here and eating sometimes, but I often wonder why I even tolerate such mediocrity! The food-service quality tend to be on a see-saw. Oh em gee, this is the first Panera I've been to that has a clean atmosphere and isn't disgustingly over crowded! Unfortunately for my wallet and cholesterol, they are on my way to work, and can see myself devouring power brekkie sandwiches on asiago bagels for the next year. The people who work here are 98% awesome. They go out of their way to say hi and greet which is awesome. Food to try here? How about brekkie. All of it. Manager went the extra mile for me on a delivery order. My directions were limited by the 120 character limit, and so were not detailed enough for the driver, which is why I included my phone number in the directions, which the driver did not use. The link and e-mail about the delivery only included the driver's first name and last initial, and no phone number. So I called the Groton Panera location, and spoke to the manager. While it is not their normal procedure, I explained that I had no contact information for the delivery service, and further I had not picked the delivery service, I had placed an order with Panera's web site, and I viewed delivery issues to be Panera's issue. She explained she'd contact the delivery service and see what she could do. The delivery service contacted me, and was able to lead me to where my order had been left. Excellent customer service all around, other than the initial failure to call me by the driver. But when I reviewed my delivery directions, I understand why he left my order where he did, and so I can't really blame him, either. read more

Groton Panera This location seems cozier and less crowded than the Waterford Connecticut location. I tried 2 half size pastas and 2 half size sandwiches along with a cup of soup for dinner one day. Butternut Squash ravioli with frizzled parmesan was delicious I was able to taste the subtle flavor of the squash filling. Chicken Sorrentino pasta was yummy with fresh green herbs and tart tomato based sauce and I customized it by adding pulled smoked chicken. The asiago steak sandwich came on a very good homemade quality bun and the steak quality was excellent. The Napa chicken salad was delicious and contained half grapes although the bread choice for that sandwich left a little to be desired. it came on what looks like almost soggy but slightly thick white bread. The chicken wild Rice soup was subpar. I think Panera definitely has to improve the quality of all of their soups. they all have the same Yellowy plastic cream base. It's about time they started upgrading their soups at the very least to some of the fancier ones that you can even get in the supermarket. skip the soup. total damage $23 read more
