With the location in Brookfield, I was a little surprised to see this newer one open up earlier in the year. I`ve been to a handful of Panera locations over the years, with the first one I visited being in the Pennsylvania area and still my favorite one. Early into the visit, I could see what others mentioned in posts, it is not kept neat and clean. There were a couple tables that still had dishes on them, areas on the floor were dirty, which is certainly not pleasant to see. As for the food, the pastries we had were decent, a bit pricey. The coffee was good and much needed for our morning. Overall, it is by no means a spot to make a special trip out for. But, if you happen to be shopping at EMS or the other stores in the plaza and want to grab something quick, it could suit your needs. read more

Food was fine what you would expect from a place like this. Friendly service at the counter and the food came out quickly. It would get more stars if they would actually vacuum the carpet more than once every seven years. And some of the tables and benches are broken and very dirty. This kind of lack of attention to cleanliness makes you wonder what the kitchen looks like. This is usually a sign of poor management because I've been to other Panera bread that were clean. I've always thought the food itself was very good here. Until I witnessed them pulling a ready-made sandwich out of a big bag for me. Not a huge fan of that. (Although, it would still taste just as good if I either hadn't seen or wasn't bothered.) Kind of cafeteria style. Watched as elderly server in the back continued to scratch his arm with his gloved hand, then grabbed something and put in his mouth, then grabbed something and put in clients plate! I left but I called and spoke to manager. She told me would tell him not to do it. I told her he should be fired? He clearly put people at risk. Gee! i sure wanted to like this place and gave it several chances to get its act together but I simply would not return. One time I ordered a turkey avocado sandwich to take home (I live about 10 miles away) Got home and unwrapped it and - oops - they forgot the turkey. I visited today to get a sandwich and salad to take home. This was at around 2 pm. Long line (only 2 cash registers open). That is annoying but the place was FILTHY!! Floors and tables littered with crumbs, paper napkins, the remains of beverages . . . You have to wait for your order and there was no where to sit that was clean. This place is badly in need of good management. PS I would love to see the Tortilla Soup back on a Panera menu. read more

Extremely slow lines to order, even longer wait for the food. They are terrible at keeping items on hand - they had no ciabatta, baguettes or apples and they ran out oh chips while I was waiting for my food. NOT impressed. A lot of the other customers were loudly complaining too. read more

Stopped here with my nephew to have lunch and it was aight. He had the kids turkey and cheeses with a yogurt and I had soup & salad. The sandwich was real pedestrian (meat, slice of cheese, bread) and a tube of "go-gurt". For the price I expected a little more but oh well. I had broccoli & cheese soup and a shrimp greek salad which tasted good. I'm a big fan of their broccoli cheddar soup and ended up sharing it with my nephew who also loved it. My salad was also good too. I wish staff was a little more diligent in cleaning the tables between customers because they were a bit icky. read more

This place has done a big hill since it opened up. Some of the servers are Rude and will touch the food with same hand they touch your money with . My biggest problem is when you walk in there is no one at the register to help or only 1 and 5 empty place . Why? The customer service needs big help . Will I go back - I do doubt it . Definitely the worst Panera I have been to. I usually do all Rapid Orders to go to ensure I'm not stuck waiting in line for a half hour wasting my entire lunch break... However I end up doing that anyway between the drive back to get the rest of the order they forgot to give the first time. It's disappointing to be missing half of your small order, especially when you pay extra for it. I will stick to Brookfield. Even the New Milford location falls short. read more

Seems to be getting better. I went there this morning to pick up breakfast. They have a few people training I haven't seen before. New young faces always brighten up a dreary place. Panera looks like it's trying to improve this location. They have warm cookies now too! Everyone seems to be on board and communicating. We'll see how it goes. Had to write a quick review to give a HUGE shout out to Panera in Danbury on Sugar Hollow Road. Frequently I have an order delivered to my office as well as may of my co workers. Last week, an order arrived and was missing extra dressing that I had asked for. I called and offered to come pick it up but the manager said she would send someone back over. Awesome level of service! Then today, the next week they came to deliver another co workers order and left a cookie with my co worker and said please pass to Amy F for her salad dressing issue last week! Who does that? I've been to this Panera location at least five times. They recently opened, in January (?), and I think they are experiencing some of the problems with opening a new location. They probably are not sure of what kind of breads, etc., to bake and keep on hand until they have had several months of experience. That said, everything I have ordered there has been fresh and good. Their staff, while new, seemed to be well trained and are accommodating, nice and enthusiastic. I think these early problems will work themselves out with more time and experience. I know I am very happy they opened in that location! read more

Been here tons of times since it opened. Love the chipotle chicken and broccoli cheddar soup. Currently here at 738, got in at 720. The moral is low and the soup is cold. Not the first time I've come an hour before close and the food was decent. Come for lunch and it'll be great. read more

The service at this Panera bread is horrible and the people at register treat people horribly. There is a new lady and when I ordered my sandwich, she just did not understand and kept repeating the order with incorrect dishes not even ordered. Moreover she was talking so softly that she was barely audible. It was very frustrating and finally had to call someone else to help who instead continued to support her colleague by saying she got it right. Trust me not a good service at all. read more

I'm updating my review only because service has become way better. I love the new staff, and how attentive they are! I was having a rough morning yesterday and the young woman at the register made me smile. I was a bit grumpy and not trying to answer all the questions panera asks. She asked for my rewards number and told me I had a free soufle, and coffee on my card! No one really asks for the card anymore. She did. This store (I won't call it a restaurant) is dreadful. The one in Norwalk is superb! When the manager took my order and told me I didn't need a pager, that they would call my name, I believed him. After hetook my order I waited 20 minutes while many others who arrived 10 minutes after me got served and were gone. So, I enquired to the cashier. She then went to the kitchen and didn't return for 5 minutes. When she came back she handed me my bag of food, and offered up a very insincere "sorry 'bout that"...and turned and left again. When my wife unpacked the bag, we noticed that one of the sandwich boxes was partially damaged and one other sandwich wasn't in a box, but was hastily and sloppily jammed into some butcher paper. My sandwich then, had fallen apart. Although I drove carefully home (18 miles round trip), the contents of the bag looked as if someone had dropped it. I have never written a restaurant review, however I really can't let this go. About two months ago, late May, I went to this Panera for the first time. I ordered their Chicken Cobb salad and got more than I paid for: one long, brown hair was found in the food. I am not squeamish. After traveling and being in third-world countries, I simply picked out the hair and finished, thinking no big deal. Upon my second visit, I ordered the same salad, and again, received a darker, shorter hair. I didnt go back for a while until yesterday when I was craving that Chicken Cobb salad again. This time I ordered the chicken cobb salad and chicken panini. No hair in the salad, but the panini was threaded with a single, DARK LONG hair. Once, ok, fine, I can deal with it. Twice, I should have complained. Three times: something needs to be done! I think people who shed their hair all day, everyday, should not be working in a kitchen. Furthermore, even if you do shed, (which you cant help) there should be laws and regulations you need to follow. DONT do your hair in the kitchen. Make sure your hands are clean. DONT cross-contaminate. TRY your hardest to do your job without putting hair in the food. SOOOOOOO SOOOOOOOO SOOOOOO GROSS. I would NOT recommend eating anything from this kitchen. read more

I have been to this location multiple times, and have enjoyed it. However it seems that they have changed the management and when I went there last, everything was different. Not only was the bread bowl option not available with my meal (it has always been up to this point), but my meal tasted like it expired long before they served it to me. Went there 3x between October and December, each time I ordered the Tuna Sandwich and a bread bowl.. They were very cheap on the soup and only filled the bread bowl 1/2 way forget about the tuna! That's a joke! Maybe 1 tablespoon of tuna on the whole sandwich! I can go buy a footlong at subway with everything on it for $5 but here I paid $6.39 for just a tuna sandwich actually I should say I paid for a lettuce and tomato sandwich! I like Panera's food, it's a good option for a quick meal, but the Panera Bread in Danbury by Wholefoods is one to never go back again. This was the 2nd, and last time, I went to this location, the service is extremely slow, employees take time to talk to each other while customers have to wait patiently. The first time I went there I had to wait about 15 min to have fresh coffee. Today I waited over 10 minutes to get my 'cold' soup, yes, that's right, the soup was cold. When I took the soup back to the employee who had served it to me, he simply took the bowl and went straight to the microwave to warm the soup!!!!!! I asked for the manager, and when she came, with her hair in disarray, quite odd for a food stablishment, I told her that the soup was cold, and instead of apologize, and ask what she could do to make that experience less stressful, she immediately told me she would 'return my money' - so much so for a stablishment that claims 'they want to make sure the customer has a great experience'. McDonalds has a better customer service than this place. read more

Train wrecks are sad affairs, usually there are fatalities and people wounded. With this Panera, you can go see a train wreck anytime you want and the only thing that will get wounded or lost is your time and money! Panera Bread is mediocre food at best, concentrating on baked goods like bread to give their food an actual flavor. The meats are processed as are the soups. The ingredients are usually fresh however they are rarely prepared properly to accent and highlite the quality of the meats and breads. Suffice to say, the food is mediocre at best. This particular Panera is extremely slow (as in, line out the door). Poorly organized, runs out of food daily and consistently fowls up orders. Might be tolerable if the food wasn't bad but the food is really not great. Please go somewhere else. There are plenty of places to grab a sandwich or soup in Danbury and those places help local merchants, not a huge chain. Here is a brief list that you can even find on Yelp: JK's, Sonny Side Up, Pippah's. You could even go a litte further to Bethel; O'Neill's runs circles around Panera and is about 9.5 minutes away. Worst Panera I've ever been to. My wife's turkey sandwich was supposed to be on cranberry bread, it wasn't. It literally had 1 slice of turkey on it. She asked a worker about it and got the response, "well, it IS proportioned". Really, the potion is one slice? I had the Asian Sesame salad which was really dry. There people at pickup were complaining about the cashier, the cashier looked disinterested, and even argued with the manager about ow she was too busy to do something he asked.
