Visited for the first time today and was really quite pleased with everything we tried. The vegetable panini had delicious fresh bread, and a nice variety of tender vegetables, including both grilled eggplant and breaded eggplant! The spicy meatball sandwich was more like a meatball mixed with spicy italian sausage, covered with cheese, peppers, onions, and tomato sauce. I really liked it. The chicken parm wedge was good too. We have ordered here a few times for work events and it is always amazing. Walking in, you get a feel of a Bronx deli. There are a few tables inside or you can take it to go. This time I got a Chicken Parm Wedge. I'm pretty sure they get the bread from the Bronx because it doesn't taste like the typical Connecticut bread. Really delicious sauce and chicken. I wish I lived closer to Lou's! I was in the office three days this week. I knew I wanted to have lunch out at Lou's. My lasagna soup when I saw this on their menu board I thought to myself wait, what? Amazing! I love lasagna and on a cold day this soup is just what I needed. I'm new to the food scene in Danbury. I was craving an italian sub and found Lou's Deli, which is located right near me. I went during lunch time and there was a good amount of people waiting but the line moved fast. I got a bag of chips and a italian combo on a sub and the total came out to about $12. The sandwich was about 12" in size and filled with deli meat. For the size of the sandwich, I felt like it was an amazing deal. I ordered the Italian combo and a meatball sub and both were excellent. They were also HUGE. I took a picture next to a giant can of Arizona iced tea so you can see how big these sandwiches/subs are. Just stopped by the always reliable Lou's deli. Intent was a simple turkey sandwich for this trip. However, I was greeted with a still steaming 2-foot-long pork roast on the counter, with a suggested sandwich right behind it. I DID NOT make a mistake. Ended up with thinly sliced hot roast pork, fresh (house made) mozzarella, with a spicy lemon butter sauce (had pieces of cherry peppers in it) - on a seeded wedge. No exaggeration, the best sandwich I have had in the Danbury area. Top 5 I have had anywhere. My understanding is that they will be roasting a fresh pork every morning. This was amazing. Six weeks later, we are still talking about the bread on our sandwiches. The tuna was just right -- real tuna, just a hint of mayo. I couldn't eat all of mine in one sitting, and it held up well (in the fridge) for several hours. We live in the south now & don't get delis like this where we are.
