Came in with an obvious disability, as I struggled, walking with a cane. Ordered a Caesar Salad to go. Waited, and waited and waited.... I was ignored. It was almost 2 pm on a Tuesday, and only 2-3 people in the restaurant. Not busy at all. Finally asked about my order, and it was obviously sitting in the kitchen. A waitress told me I should have waited at the "pick up" area which was not very visible. I ordered extra Parmesan Cheese, but when I got home, I did not see any. I did see 2 small cups of dressing, half full. My receipt showed 1.) 1 knife, 1 fork; 2.) Caesar Salad, Xtr Parmesan Cheese; 3.) French Bag Side. There was no amount showing next to each item, but a total at the bottom of the receipt. I did NOT order a French baguette. If I had not asked about my order, I would probably still be waiting... I love panera, and I order ahead 95% of the time. They always have my order on the shelf when I get there, but even in the mornings when traffic is slow, they do not check the order and leave items out. This morning, I did not get a cinnamon roll as part of a 4 piece pastry order. I am back home already when I noticed the error. They did NOT check the receipt. The gentleman at the counter was so patient as I ordered for multiple people and the employees who prepared my order went out of their way to bag it in a convenient way for me. Panera has made it to our rotation lately and we've been happy every visit. One of our favs is the pick-two broccoli cheddar soup and chicken Cesar salad and strawberry/banana smoothie. WARNING! THIS LOCATION DOES NOT TOAST THEIR BREAD!!!!!I can't say that I go there much since they dont seem to be able to keep sausage patties in stock. But the last three times that I have given them a chance at this location I received a "cold" breakfast sandwich. The brioche bun was literally cold, like out of the freezer, the easy over egg was over cooked and the sausage was lukewarm. Really the biggest thing was the semi frozen untoasted brioche bun. For the third time now. I am kicking myself for paying $8 for a really bad breakfast sandwich, three times. I thought it was a fluke, you know, maybe it's a new guy, forgot to toast/thaw the bun the first two times, but no. They are a really bad location, I will still try others, but the Culpeper one puts out trash. Save your money and go to McD. read more

This update is in response to my visit on October 7th. Two weeks ago (October 11th) I was contacted by a customer service coordinator from Blue Ridge Bread. A Google search reveals they own the franchise for several Panera locations, and I'm assuming they run the Culpeper Panera Bread location. The prompt email surprised me, especially because I'd indicated I'd go elsewhere in Culpeper for food from now on. However, the followup on promises made in their email is lacking. I was offered a gift card for the experience and provided my contact information promptly. It's now been two weeks since our last communication and I haven't heard or seen anything from Blue Ridge Bread or the Culpeper Panera location. The Culpeper location's Yelp reviews show consistent quality issues, and now that I've waited two weeks for followup on an email, I'm inclined to believe that mismanagement of the restaurant starts at the franchise owner's level. There's a reason fast-casual restaurants like Panera do well in Northern Virginia, and the difference between the locations I frequent near my office and my home and the Culpeper location makes me believe the difference is in management and franchise ownership. Something tells me that if I visited another of their Panera locations that I would experience the same quality issues. Disappointing, I guess customer service is really a thing of the past. We've been to this location many times and have never seen anyone cleaning tables. They're always dirty. We clean them ourselves. The last time we were in, we waited for an order only to be told eventually "they were out" and asked what else we wanted. Why didn't the person taking the order know this? Pickup service has gotten worse. Rapid pickup orders taking 20 minutes longer than quoted & then missing items. The employees and one of the female managers are always standing around talking instead of taking care of orders. Our orders are always wrong when this female manager is working. Service is a lot better during the regular workday shifts. For evenings and weekends there is a 50% chance your order will be wrong. read more

What can i say about a staff that simply CAN NOT get an order correct. This includes take out. Getting back to your home or destination and finding that you have paid for items that are missing is unforgivable. what is worse, is when you drive 20 minutes back to get what you paid for, they then still can't give you the proper water and still leave out items that you initially paid for. It is unconscionable that employee has a simple task to give you what you're being charged for and place it in a bag. In any other instance this could be handled by an automated machine therefore illuminating the job of a faceless, apathetic and mindless employee. It is sad to see that we are growing a generation of non-thinking apathetic drones do not care about customer service or even doing the job in which they receive payment for. Are these the mothers and fathers, politicians, doctors, lawyers of our future? The manager of the restaurant was very helpful to me and apologized profusely including free coupons for future visits. Panera Bread in Culpeper is terrible. I got a Chicken noodle soup a few weeks ago, it had two noodles, two carrots and one piece of chicken. It should have been called Chicken Broth. The other day I got the napa chicken salad sandwich. it only had chicken with very little mayo mixed and nothing else, very little on the sandwich mostly lettuce and the crust of the bread was so hard it could not have been eaten. The price of the items and what you get I suggest go somewhere else for a good lunch. Not worth the money even if a $1.00. read more

When I first saw Panera going in I was like aww Culpeper's getting booshie now. And then I saw they had a drive thru and I was like oh look at you. I love Panera I simply do and this location is no exception. Their breads are amazing. Their turkey bacon bravo on focaccia bread is to die for. Their salads are divine. And their working on their kinks. I can't fault them to bad their still a new store breaking into a new area. Their staff is always kind and pleasant which is like a Panera stepping stone to an enjoyable meal. The free wifi is hit and miss when busy. I always get the feeling this is what Starbucks wishes they could be when I go in to one. The Culpeper restaurant is no exception to the rules. Now they are only getting 4 stars cause like I said they have kinks to work out. Doesn't bother me I will still be eating here when I'm in the mood for an epic sandwich. They are open for breakfast... I always get a soufflé which is more like a thick warm eggy soufflé croissant. Spinach and bacon and roasted tomato and feta are my favorite the mornings I have to work and have a few seconds to drive by. Love the drive thru btw. read more

I ordered for a work meeting. I have done this before in different locations. I asked for different types of cream cheese for the bagels and they told me they didn't have it. Think I can offer praise to a place that, as a matter of policy, can't serve up a bagel well the first time? 1. Instead of skillfully hand slicing a bagel so its mass is divided 50/50, Panera has opted for using a machine that is akin to a wood-chipper. Am I in a restaurant or a saw mill? A bagel is dropped without care into this machine and is sliced in a fraction of a second. Such action can only result in an off-angled cut. Then it goes through one of those lousy conveyor belt toasters, which, if not adjusted with care, either grossly under toasts or burns the bagel. Mine was barely warm. So I had to send it back. It was then rather dark on the outside, but barely warm on the inside. 2. Coffee was tepid and crappy. I only ate there that morning because I was in the mood for a sesame bagel. Which Starbucks doesn't offer. I'd never go out of my way to return to this Panera. read more

Typical chain restaurant (Panera Bread) food. So, good eats. This particular restaurant is too narrow compared to other locations, which makes it awkward to navigate the restaurant. They really need twice the space to dine in. We haven't tried the drive-thru option, but we are curious to try it some day. read more

Do not go to this location, it is the worst ran Panera I have been to!!!! The bread on my breakfast sandwich was completely charred black on the bottom and they didn't even bother to peel the avocado skin off the avocado I paid to add into my sandwich. When I told the server in the dining area, she took my plate and said, "OK".....She didn't say sorry, or let me get a manager over here. ...Just OK, took my plate and walked away. Complete ripoff. This isn't my first visit but it will be my last. This is the worst location between Charlottesville and Fredericksburg. If you get a steak and cheese they will give you half of a sandwich and charge you $10. My avocado egg white sandwich had paper thin bits of egg white in it. Pretty standard by Panera standards. Does not have kiosks and register was not staffed when I came in. The trash cans also smell pretty rotten, especially the entrance farther from the register. Bathrooms are hard to find--all the way down the hall, far away from the registers, hidden inside another unmarked hall. Look for the bulletin board. read more

This location was a joke. Order was made online so it would be ready as soon as we walked in the door. The poor worker had no idea the order had been made and called the manager. She decided to try to be a smartypants and tell us we had never ordered a thing, even though we had the confirmation number and order details in the phone. The past 3 times I've been there, they've missed items, served the wrong dish, or rang us up incorrectly. The team seems nice but they have a hard time listening. I have to give a shout out to a rockstar staff member that helped my very large and difficult family with our orders. On 8/16/15, Sarah helped us out and my five kids are still getting used to the menu. One of them threw a ringer at her and she responded with "I can make that happen for you."
