I don't think this location deserves all the hate! The employees were very friendly, and not only did they help us right away, our food came out promptly as well. The inside was also very clean, and we could tell the tables were regularly being wiped off and the floors vacuumed. We got generous sizes of baguettes which is always appreciated. I will say my Turkey Bacon Avocado BLT was a little subpar. The bread was sliced really thick, and there was barely any avocado. Still, my Mac and Cheese was delicious, and I think everyone else enjoyed their meals and drinks. I would return again but perhaps just for the Mac and Cheese. read more

Just went for a quick breakfast bite before heading into the capital. But I'd just like to mention that this Bethesda location had Lobster rolls as an option! That was quite the welcoming way to wake up and brace to face the morning traffic and bureaucratic filled day. Unfortunately, the lobster didn't really taste fresh, and the service was not the best. Aside from a pleasant run-in with the manager washing our hands, every other worker was either very passive, inattentive, or always rushing. Maybe it's the morning time, or maybe it's just because I've been out of the big city for too long, but none of those should be excuses. I'd also like to mention that the entire layout is not very coordinated to flow customer traffic and table arrangement. I tried ordering a sandwich with pepperoni but they were out of pepperoni. So I wanted to order a pizza, no pizza. I finally ordered some Mac & cheese but it was Luke warm when it came. Same with the chicken noodle soup. We had to pick up our food, get our own drinks then clear our own table. When I ordered a cookie, bear claw and a muffin the girl walked 10 feet to get them. Friend ordered soup and it came out cold, and was told no when she asked if it could be reheated or replaced. I ordered soup myself and was missing my toppings completely. Ice machine was broken, lemonade was watered down. Was given the wrong muffing. Over terrible experience. I think the rude employees name was Ashley, but I could be wrong. The customer service at this location has improved significantly since they moved buildings. At the old Panera location, the food was almost always cold and nobody really seemed to care much. At this location I always have a positive experience with my food and with the staff. Today the staff was especially cheery. A man named Danny who works here was so kind to everyone and was really helpful when someone would ask him for help. Another man (who I wasn't able to catch the name of) working the food line was also incredible kind when people would come up to receive their food. Absolutely the worst. Don't wast your money on that new chicken sandwich. Any body can heat up a dried out piece of chicken and throw it on a bun. Save the money and get a much better chicken sandwich at McDonalds. And the place was dirty, including the parking lot, but it was nice to see that the 6-7 employees in the food prep area had time to debate the name of some Christmas song that had been made into a tick tock video and then debate with me about the lack of large cups at the drink station. Service was bad, workers were very rude. My food came out and the soup was cold and they gave me the wrong muffin. When I asked if I could have it reheated they told me to find a microwave but they didn't know where it was, they weren't willing to replace it. This review is going to be more focused on a positive work enviroment and how it competes with other coffee shops around BG, so of you're seeking an intense meal review, this probably won't be what you're looking for. I've always had a hard time doing work in the silence of my room, so when I need to focus, I always have to go somewhere in which offers a internet, and a nice focused environment. I understand Panera is a chain restaurant, however, I really enjoy the colors, music, and setting presented in this place. It creates a fantastic ambiance that I feel just can't be beat. It's warm lighting in which accentuates the creative pictures, quilts, and designs on the walls are so eye pleasing. Something else I really enjoy is the choice of music that is played. I always work w/ my headphones in, so being able to hear smooth/progressive jazz in the background always helps me keep my focus. I understand these are similar traits of other joints, however, those have a few cons that keep me away.... Let's start with Starbucks. I like Starbucks, however, they don't have free internet! I'm not sure how and why they don't do so. If you have a laptop, chances are you'll get an urge to check out your mail, facebook, myspace, yelp, etc. Another con about Starbucks is it's so cold!!!! I'm a big guy and still end up with goosebumps as I do my work. In the midst of summer, you're not going to get a scolding hot drink to satisfy your coffee fix, it's most likely going to be something cold which makes it even colder. Another place in BG is Grounds for Thought, I LOVE grounds for thought and go there anytime I am going to do some type of paperwork or something that doesn't require my laptop. My biggest complaint in there is, this sounds odd, the lighting. I feel like I'm sitting in a classroom since the lighting is done by the bright "cool" bulbs. It's setting just isn't as warm as Panera. And on to the food/drinks for Panera. Panera's dark roast and hazlenut blends are out of this world. Those two are hands down the top favorites on my list of coffees. The you pick two option is also a huge hit in my book. For 6.49 I can get a pretty big meal that fulfills my hunger urge. I don't eat here as much as I drink coffee here, however, it's food is still some of the freshest for a quick service restaurant. I'm sure many of these ideals for a focused work environment are more of a personal preference, however, I really feel Panera's environment is extremely calm and will help you focus on whatever it may be you need to work on!!! read more

Good food and friendly service. I did find it all a bit confusing though. As a new customer, I was not sure where to go to pick up my food. I would suggest stepping back and choosing from a printed menu. There are so many things to choose from that choosing from the board was hard for me. When I brought it to the person's attention that v this was not safe and not sanitary she seemed confused as to what I expected of her. There was little and perhaps no recognition from her. The staff at this Panera is always nice. It's one of the healthier food options in downtown Bowling Green, so I am glad it's here and very grateful that it's open late. The cafe is still nice, but is dated - it hasn't been updated since the early 2000's. The other thing that's bothersome is what I perceive to be corporate changes. Less generous portion sizes, disappearing menu items, a horrible phone system that requires you to wade through recordings and menus, the annoying verbal and touchscreen request for a tip every time I am there (Panera, just pay your people a fair wage instead!) None of those decisions are local, but it makes me less likely to eat at Panera often. I agree with the commenter who thinks Panera has become much more unreasonably priced than it was in the past. ive always been a fan of panera and was happy to see it in BG to know it was a backup to go if we couldnt decide on any other place to try. we ended up coming here anyway so we could just pick up something quick and get settled into our motel. this panera is pretty big, while lots of seating and two separate counters. i ordered the 1/2 mediterranean veggie sandwich and cup of tomato soup. the soup was good, a little big chunkier than ive had at other paneras but still tasty. the sandwich was good, seemed like it was thicker bread but still good. my friend ordered a 1/2 salad and a 1/2 sandwich. she said her salad was good (i think it was the chinese chicken salad or something). she also ordered a ice tea and apparently they didnt have any lids for the regular size cups so the girl just gave us a large cup instead. if i lived in town i would probably come here to study or catch some free wifi read more
