I have never been to Panera before, but I have heard plenty about its goodness. The store was clean. The staff was very friendly and offered us samples right away. I chose Panera because their website showed an awesome selection of soups, and that's what I wanted. The soup did not disappoint! I enjoyed the creamy tomato soup quite a bit. and the sourdough bread bowl was delish. I was charmed by the apple option, and I think it was pretty inexpensive for such a filling meal(a touch under $5, awesome). I had a significant portion of my boyfriend's cream of chicken and rice -- also excellent! My boyfriend took issue with the roast beef sandwich, though, hence the 3-star rating. I had a bite, and it seemed nothing special, a bit tasteless save the excellent horseradish sauce on it. In every situation, the bread we got was tough. Tasty! But still a bit of a struggle to eat even when dipped in so much soup. Nevertheless, I got what I wanted -- damn good soup! I also really wanted to try all of the pastries -- they looked amazing and will probably earn this place another star if I ever manage to not stuff myself completely on lunch. I've been to this particulate Panera location several times in the past. It's usually good, though there's often a wait because of the crowds. I went Friday (11/27) to get a bagel and coffee, and the coffee machine was broken, which was frustrating. The service was good, and the bagel, but without being able to get coffee, I was disappointed in this experience. Store management was apologetic, and I realize getting a repairman in on Black Friday on short notice is difficult, but I still left unhappy. read more

The management at the Bee Caves Panera Bread is incredible. I had a problem with my order which was quickly resolved by the manager. This Panera really needs to shutter shop. The management clearly has zero interest in the level of quality touted by the national commercials and the store itself could really use a serious scrubbing. Don't believe me? Have a seat near the counter, look at the floors and take a guess when they were last cleaned. Look around. You'll see evidence that the people that run this place just don't care. So you don't care if the store is a little rough around the edges? Well then lets talk about the food. I just sat down to enjoy a nice bowl of soup and a salad after a long day of working and guess what? It was so disgusting that I couldn't eat more than two bites of either. The chicken tortilla soup must be cooked with several limes in the broth because the overpowering, extremely bitter flavor of lime rind completely kills the soup. It tasted like I was eating wasp spray. The salad was wilted and the few pieces of avocado were so underripe and rubbery that I couldn't cut through them with the plastic knives provided. The dressing tasted as if it had turned sour. I was so disappointed that I called and told them (politely) that the food I just picked up was inedible. The person immediately offered me a refund without asking ANY details about what I ordered. Not the least bit concerned that the soup was bitter, that the avocado was underripe and/or old, that the dressing had turned sour. This person never apologized for the inconvenience, never offered to remake my food. He simply asked me for my credit card so he could issue a refund. If this doesn't speak loudly about how much they care about the quality of the product they shovel out the door, I don't know what does. Thank goodness a Modern Market just opened very close to my house. I will never, ever, ever darken the door of Panera on Bee Cave Rd again. I've had rotten experiences there in the past. This was the absolute last straw. Do us all a favor Panera, close down and make room for a business that cares. I'll throw money all the live long day at a place that cares about quality. read more

I have used Panera several times for catering or rapid pick-up in addition to dining in. When dining on things are great. Unfortunately, catering is a hassle. My order has never been corrected. My bad for continually trying to give another shot. When I ask to speak in person or on the phone with someone management they NEVER take responsibility, ever. Unfortunate. Okay I sat here yesterday reading reviews of this place after my date said she wanted to come here and I now sit here thinking to myself, "WTF?". The five star reviewers must be investors or something. Last night I went down to Panera for dinner and I was severely unimpressed and I now believe that this place is another one of those severely overrated Austin scams. LOCATION and DECOR: Location is great, it's convenient, it's a great neighborhood and it's very nice. The decor is nice, clean and there is a good number of booths and tables. SERVICE: Service was good, but then again they really don't do much more than take your order and give you the buzzer light show pager thing. Now IF I hadn't been with a date, I would have complained heavily about my food and then we could have really tested the service. FOOD: I can't say it "sucked" but I was severely disappointed after reading the reviews on here. I had the half Frontega Chicken sandwich and the half Chicken Caesar salad. First the sandwich, the bread was fresh (duh) the mayonnaise was very good, the rest of it was lame. The "Chicken" was visible under certain lighting conditions known only to mystics and the Pope, in other words there was hardly any meat on it. For being a "paninni" I expected it to be warm at least, but it wasn't it was just room temp. The cheese was slightly melted and warm, the chicken cold and invisible and overall the sandwich was an incredible rip off. $8 for this meal? What? The salad was good and terrible all at the same time. Let's just take the croutons off, now you have a very tasty Chicken Caesar that I highly recommend. Now let's address those croutons....HOW does a BAKERY screw up a BREAD product? Is that possible? It IS! The croutons I was served were a complete and utter atrocity. Absolute crap. I literally put one in my mouth and thought I had bit down on a damn Superball or something. Do you have any idea how embarrassing it is to spit your food out in front of your date? It's bad. The croutons were the consistency of tire rubber, completely impervious to forks, teeth, etc. My date and I actually were so amazed at how freaking terrible they were that we started testing them just to see how much they could take. Bending, twisting, squishing, nothing fazed these sick little nuggets of crap. Like memory metal, there was nothing you could do to the little rubber croutons. Absolutely DISGUSTING. If it wasn't for the decent remainder of the salad I would never eat here again. The sandwich was boring, skimpy and poorly prepared. The salad was good but set back by food that shouldn't even be served. Maybe they just don't give a damn when they make your food, I mean they already have your money right!! Severely disappointed. Boo. Overall this place is average, don't go out of your way to come here. You will pay more than other places, the food is mediocre and the obviously don't really care about what they are doing. Panera in general seems to be overpriced and underwhelming, but this particular location was extra sub par. You can tell how a place is run by how their bathrooms look - and the bathroom here was really gross. Looked like it hadn't been attended to in days - trash overflowing and paper towels randomly sitting on the sink. The food was not good - sandwich had the puniest amount of chicken and was tiny. I can't believe it was $14 for what I received. I'll stay away from Panera in the future but especially this location. I'm scared to see how dirty their kitchen might be. read more

The Bacon Turkey Bravo is my favorite sandwich: smoked turkey breast, crispy bacon, gouda cheese...but the best part is the scrumptious tomato basil bread! The Fuji Apple Chicken is my salad pick: romaine lettuce, chicken breast, gorgonzola cheese, pecans and dried apples make it oh so delicious! If you take the time to read my reviews you'll find an overwhelming number of positive reviews and more often than not I try find the good over the bad. That being said, I've had TWO very bad experiences at the Panera, Hill Country Galleria. I was tempted to leave a bad review after the first poor experience but today I went back and had an even worse experience. Let me be clear about the issue we have now suffered through twice. It's not the food. The food is fine. It's Panera. You pretty much get what you always get at Panera. It's not the location or a long wait or bad parking, etc... It is the attitude of the employees. The first bad experience my wife was trying to get assistance because the tea urn was empty and she was going to let the employees know. She waited about 90 seconds while the employees chatted and ignored her. Once they were notified nothing happened. Okay, I'm not crazy....these things happen and at this point we're annoyed but not flat out mad. We were on our way out and my wife went back up to order something else. This time the employees were literally rude, snickering, and rolling their eyes at my wife. Not acceptable. I decided to give the establishment the benefit of the doubt and didn't leave a poor review. Today, I went back to the Panera at the Hill Country Galleria. My wife and I were ordering our food at the counter. The place is busy and there was a line behind us. I'm ready to order but person won't take our order. He's cutting up with another employee. I figure, the manager needs to really get these guys going because there is a long line here. I look down to find that the person taking my order has a name tag with "General Manager" as his title. As I continued to give my order I was treated very poorly and condescendingly. Again, I'm not someone looking for flaws or a rude staff. After being spoken to, by the manager, in such a manner I knew I couldn't go on without telling yelpers about my experience. There were several other things that contribute to such a poor rating but I can look past them as normal issues any establishment would run into. I hope they make some changes with the staff. A staff with a good attitude starts at the top. Now I know that the manager has the ugliest attitude and it trickles down the ranks. read more

We've not had lunch or many other items at Panera, but we are so pleased with the selection and the service. I'd give Panera on Bee Caves 5 stars if it were kept a little cleaner. We love that there are samples every time we go in, and I am in love with the Shortbread cookie. Having come from NW Washington, I am a huge Uncle Seth's pink cookie fan. I never thought I'd find a cookie that would come close to rivaling it, especially not a cookie without the delicious pink frosting Uncle Seth's has to offer. But, the melt-in-your-mouth buttery goodness of Panera's shortbread has taken the number 1 spot at our house for the best shortbread cookie. read more

I'm not a fan of big chain restaurants because somehow the food usually tastes plastic. Panera is one the rare exceptions. I'm a fan of the Fuji Apple Chicken Salad and the BBQ Chicken Salad. I always make adjustments to leave out the cheese, etc and they always get it right. Of all the Panera Bread locations in town that I have tried (Gateway, Galleria, Bee Caves, Lakeline and South), this is the best. The food is the most consistent; they have great quality control on the lettuce to keep you from getting too many of the romaine veins, etc. Also the folks who work there are very attentive and friendly. The manager always checks on people and even clean tables himself to make sure the place is always at its peak. They have a nice oak tree covered patio. Free wi-fi. Super impressed! read more

I used online rapid order to pick up bagels. Placed order at around 10 am to pick up at noon. When I got there the girl told me they didn't have the bagels I wanted. Hands down the WORST Panera on the planet! It's nearest my work, so the most convenient for lunch, otherwise would never use, and after today will never use again. The odds for winning the lottery are better than the odds of them getting the order right---esp. if ordering on-line. I've returned to this location on multiple occasions (who has time for that on a lunch hour?) to address the ON-GOING issue with two separate managers, and yet... Like I said, WORST Panera on the planet. The apples look like they've been dropped-kicked...repeatedly, or come riddled with fingernail gouges. They clearly have no qualms about using wilted greens for their salads, etc. They only thing they don't screw up are the chips---if they remembered to include them. I love being able to order online and pick up in the store w/o ever waiting in line or talking to a person (they call it rapid pick-up). They have a huge variety of healthy salads, my favorite of which is probably the Thai Chopped Chicken, and sandwiches. read more

This place is the worst and I don't know why I continue to subject myself to eating here. I ordered food and they told me they were out of the bread after I ordered. How is a "bread company" out of bread? Not knowing my alternatives, I opted for my sandwich on sourdough. They must have used an end piece because my sandwich was the size of an hors d'oeuvre. I guess I wouldn't have been so annoyed if they told me what to expect before I received it or offered me a refund. I like Panera, I really do. All of the locations are out of my way so I consider going to Panera a treat for when I'm on Bee Caves road since that's the only location I'm ever near. I love the vegetable soup but as usual, they have discontinued the items that I LOVE! This is the story of my life!!! They had this amazing mozzarella and tomato sandwich that was almost like pizza, OMG it was soooo good. Yup, it's no more! The girl there said they could replicate it but NO, what they did was nothing like it, it was a nice try though. The soup and wanna be sandwich were good but I left saddened by this change. the place was also a total mess. Every booth covered in the last person's crumbs, plates and bowls stacked way too high at the stations where you bus your tray. So sad because it's not supposed to be a mess where you eat. read more

It's a chain, so there are certain things that are always going to be the same. This location has always had quick service when we have gone there and I like the large patio they have outside. If you're looking for a nice sandwich place to eat outside, try this one out. read more

Personally, I'm no Panera lover. I'm a vegetarian who often foregos cheesy options so the menu leaves a lot to be desired for me. However, I use Panera for catering at my office and everyone loves it - people have asked if we can order from Panera every day. The lunches all come as box lunches, well marked with names (this can be pretty hard to come by) and always neatly packaged and on time. The catering team let me know what days were their lightest and worked with me on figuring out when would be the best time to order as well as an easy process that accommodates our office. There is always the occasional hiccup - but they work hard to ensure our orders are correct. read more
