Tuna salad sandwich with tomato soup
    John R.

I'm a long-time fan of St. Louis Bread Co. Their bagels are some of my favorites and make a great breakfast sandwich. Their fresh bread in a wide assortment of varieties is carbalicious, and I've been guilty of ordering just a loaf with cream cheese for lunch. Their regular lunch menu is tasty, but some items can be a bit pricey. Not so the 1/2 tuna salad sandwich with tomato soup which is a bargain. It is so fresh, and for its price point, I've yet to find an equal in flavor. It's my favorite place in Alton to have a working lunch. They designed the dining area with a casual atmosphere in mind. There are great group spots and isolated nooks with comfortable chairs. Service is consistent. They quickly fixed things the few times they made mistakes and compensated my time with a cookie. Nothing like a chocolate chip cookie to help me forgive a mistake.

They have recently switched up a bunch of menu items at Panera... I believe it's bc they are going public as a company. Food is still expensive but delicious. A meal used to come with a pickle... they need to bring that back. They did get my girlfriend's order wrong... it wasn't mine so they are still getting 5 stars. Should I invest in their IPO?

Greek Chicken Salad - no onions or feta cheese

This right here is my favorite Paneras! They make my Greek chicken salad amazingly well every time! They have me spoiled from there, clean restaurant, and great customer service. I will pass up all others just to come to this one literally in another state! They have never disappointed me, or let me down! If you do order this at another one, it won't look like this one, I promise! Below is a picture of my favorite salad; by the way, I omit the onions and feta cheese.

First, for dinner I got the Chicken Teriyaki Broccoli Bowl. The Broccoli was cooked well, soft and warm (I have a personal issue with broccoli that is too raw, I just can't do the textures, so I only enjoy broccoli that is steamed to softness). The chicken was also cooked well, moist and juicy with flavor, not tough and overcooked. For my drink I tried one of the new charged lemonades, the strawberry mint flavor. So refreshing, great flavor combo, I thoroughly enjoyed it! I will definitely be back to try the other flavors.

This Bread Co is near my office, so I thought I would stop for a bagel and coffee. It was all the server could do was wait on me. I wanted to give her my rewards number, here response Okay fine..... On Tuesday they have the bakers dozen for $6.99 Again the server looked at me. I told her have fun with it give me whatever makes her happy. Once again I don't think she liked my response. I also wanted two coffees to go, I asked for creamer containers, yep I did not get them..... They need to take this server off of the front line, she is ruining this Bread Co.

11/5/16··· Today this establishment had a spinach artichoke soufflé. I'm not yet ready to completely change my review but I will keep you posted. -----------------------------------------The food is always good and predictable. Unfortunately, whether or not they actually have the item you want is questionable. It is 9 AM on a Sunday morning and they are already sold out of spinach artichoke soufflés. If this wasn't a regular occurrence I would not think much of it. However this is a consistent problem here. As I said the food is good, the service is good, it's just the consistency of availability that keeps it from being a five star.

Apple chicken salad with broccoli soup..

The food is average and fairly small portions for the price. Usually around 11 dollars for the pick 2. I feel some of the tea rooms in the area have a better value for the money you spend. It's nice inside and they have a great area if you like to eat outside. The food usually comes up pretty quick. I dont go here as often as I used to but I still like it once in awhile.

They have a delicious looking menu with lots of good looking sandwiches and some yummy desserts. I opted for a winter special of the granny grilled cheese and it comes to the side of soup and I got a mini cheesecake on the side. The girls working upfront are so sweet and took my order quickly and answered all of my questions. They also did a great job of bagging up my order to go with utensils and napkins in the bag which I really appreciate. They also even tape closed the box so nothing spills. When I got home and sat down to eat, the food all looked delicious and made it home safe because of the careful packaging. The granny grilled cheese was the perfect mix of sweet and savory that I adore. It was a little messy to eat, but I was eating by myself at home so I didn't care. The tomato soup was the perfect addition to a snowy day. it was warm and flavorful. The cheesecake was also delicious. I got the mini one so I could convince myself I was being healthy but wish I would have gotten a full sized slice because of how delicious it was. I got my order to go for a couple different reasons but one is that they don't have the largest inside seating area and it tends to get pretty full. It's nice to come on a summer day because they have a pretty large outdoor seating area that you wouldn't be able to use in the winter is parking but there's a lot of spaces in the area.

I really wanted to not eat anything and run when I got home, as the nice days this fall are going to be over before you know it. But then I thought about gorging myself at Chinese Buffet. Sitting all by myself, stuffing myself. Jacki said it made her sad to think about me eating by myself and I would be a little embarassed to be seen eating by myself in Alton... So I drove a little farther and made a quick two lane change and pulled up to this little fish shack. I have been wanting to try here forever (since my love for fried fish began). I'm glad I finally made it by. The lady manning the window wasn't the friendliest, but I'm probably not the clientele she is most used to dealing with. I am not well versed in fish and asked her what she thought of a couple of them before just deciding myself to go with a Jack sandwich. I didn't know there was a fish named Jack, but he was rather tasty. She did inform me a couple of the sandwich varieties have bones in them, so I am happy of that. I also went with a side of potato salad which I was originally disappointed in the size, but the flavor ended up making up for that times 100! It was mustardy and sweet, kind of pickley. It didn't take long for them to fry up the fish and in no time I was sitting in Kohl's parking lot enjoying my bounty. The sandwich came with two filets, two pieces of bread of your coice (wheat), bread and butter pickles, and onions. It was awesome! So flaky and delicious. At first I was a little nervous this Jack was going to be too fishy, but that was not that case at all. I will definitely be making trips back by here.

My Order: Mango Passionfruit Iced Tea & The Italian Sandwich Food/Drinks: The coffee menu is extensive, and they have a decent tea menu (my tea was Stash). There's a small bakery/pastry case, plus a few sandwiches and salads on the menu. After eating there, I checked out their social media; it looks like they have occasional specials that they post. I enjoyed my tea, and the Italian Sandwich was delicious. My sandwich came with a little cup of oil with herbs, which was so good! Atmosphere: The inside is simple, yet inviting. There's a counter where you order, and two small rooms with a few tables in each room. There's also a few tables outside, which I would have sat at had it been a little bit warmer. The woman working the counter was friendly and helpful. Logistics: It's 3 hour street parking, but I had no trouble finding a spot. The building is sort of on the corner/side road. Once inside, head up to the counter to order.

I've created my own sandwich in the past, but today I went with their, New York Steamer. Yum-Yum. All that goodness is pressed between a toasted sub roll (I choose, wheat). I live about a mile and a half from the Firehouse and when I got home, it was still toasty warm.
