We were greeted by the owner, Lauren. During the event, we were housed in the newly renovated event space. Perfect for intimate events. They served guests a full spread complete and drinks on the house. The food was actually very delicious. There was this sort of cheese dip that we ate - all I know is that it had corn in it and spices, but everyone went back for seconds! It was good! (Put it as a regular menu option *wink wink*). If you are looking to come here for a good meal and a beer, please reconsider. I came here one evening to order some dinner and a beer, and when I was asked to present my I.D., the guy helping me at the counter gave me attitude and denied me service because the picture on my drivers license didn't "look like me". He then went to the manager and thankfully, the manager confirmed that my I.D. was legit. I waited a long time for my order, and after I finally got my food and left, I wasn't impressed. I loved this place. I don't drink, but I got to try their local sodas, which lack all the HFCS stuff and has real sugar. It was called Excel Bottling Company. I was pleasantly surprised. The walk to the restaurant area is very pretty and historic as well! They had board games and it felt pretty homey! The food was good, except for my fried chicken sandwich. Very casual laid back brew pub offering organic craft beers as well as sandwiches,pizza and pub eats. We stopped in for lunch and you seat your self and help yourself to a menu and then place your order at the bar. The food is brought out to you. I had the Dreaming for a Cure Cream Ale with orange and vanilla. It was ok but lacking in flavor in my opinion. My wife had an iced coffee which she enjoyed . We split a sandwich called "Camille" on a gluten free bun. Smoked turkey,bacon,goat cheese and raspberry preserves along with a bag of chips. It was very tasty. I love a good week-end Brunch and I can now have one here at, Old Bakery Brewery. They just started having it and it is 9:00 AM till 11:30 AM on Saturday and Sunday. I give them extra bonus points for offering it on both weekend days. Brunch is not just about good food, it is also about refreshing adult cocktails. OBB offered traditional brunch cocktails, but they also offered a few creative ones. Being a, Martini Man, I ordered the, Bloody Martini. I was a nice twist combining a Bloody Marty with a Vodka Martini. I grew up in the country on a farm, so I still love, Biscuits and Gravy. Here, you get a choice of sausage or mushroom gravy. I went with, sausage and it totally hit the spot on a Sunday morning. I went with a single biscuit and added a side of breakfast potatoes and one scrambled egg. It was filling enough. After I ordered, two cousins arrived to experience the new brunch, so we dined together. They ordered, the Breakfast Burrito and Croque Madame. Both servings were extremely large. Both of them are true foodies and said the entrees were delicious. I am confident, we'll all be coming back for brunch at Old Bakery. Occasionally, I work weekends at a part-time job and with it starting at 9 AM and being close to my work, I can enjoy a hearty brunch and still be to work by 10. This brunch is a winner. read more

Quite a few items 86'd for a Saturday afternoon visit. Some of the food ordered came out cooler than expected. Main bar area is a little dark, I'd almost describe the ambiance as morose - yeah it's a famously haunted town but still. Beer served here comes with a healthy dose of liberal politics. And while I'm all about people having their personal opinions, if politics become integral to the businesses ethos - as opposed to being "about the beer" in this case - service, quality and focus suffer. I came in and sat at the bar while two bartenders were working. One bartender was engaged in a conversation with a couple seated a few stools away, while the other was finishing lunch at the bar. Neither bartender acknowledged me, offered a menu, or checked in to let me know they would be with me shortly. I patiently waited and when the bartender who was eating got up -- I assume to wash his hands -- he still did not acknowledge me or mention that he would return to take my order. Meanwhile, the other bartender continued his conversation with the couple at the bar. At that point, I decided to leave because I genuinely felt unwelcome as a customer. A simple acknowledgment or quick "I'll be right with you" would have made a big difference. read more

We've lived in Alton for close to two years now and have been here at least 15-20 times. I finally feel confident to give this place a well deserved 5 stars. The food is very good, and fresh. I recommend brunch! Amazing addition. Currently I'm hooked on their seasonal peach bbq chicken sandwich, oh my gosh is it good. The menu has something for everyone. Service had been great. Kind, helpful people that really want you to enjoy your time with them. We've gotten to know them and we just love everybody that works here. There was one stinker working the register but I haven't seen him in a minute. I love their non alcoholic options! Very good considering they're a brewery. My husband and I spent a day in Alton and this was one of the places we stopped. The building itself is huge. There is a lot of seating and it is an open space. They have a good size beer selection and they offer cans to go. This was nice since most microbreweries don't have cans to go. The food was great! Anywhere that offers a bison burger makes me smile. They also had vegan options. There are specials available on different nights of the week. Sunday is the day for vegan specials. I don't drink (that's telling you something if someone who doesn't drink loves a brewery so much that they give it five stars!), but my date thoroughly enjoyed the blueberry beer they had. I always love visiting Old Bakery Beer company every time I'm in the area. The beer is solid, food is solid, and the service is stellar. You'll feel like a regular even if it's you're first time here because the staff go above and beyond to provide you with great service. The beer options are varied and range from pale ales, kettle sours, all the way to the dark side (porters and imperials). The beers are all around 6.50 each which is a fair value. They also offer growler fills to take some home with you :) I've never been disappointed by any other food items. I'm so glad that they started offering fries instead of the chips because their fries are phenomenal. I highly recommend the bacon, jam, burger or checking out whatever their burger special is of the day. Usually, I opt for a lighter option than a hamburger, but there is something about their hamburgers that really get me every time. We have been here a few times. While the decor is interesting, the menu is rather limited, the majority of selections are oddities, seemingly put together by owners/employees. The only thing that I have tried is the rhueben, and while it wasn't that good, (I have had it 3 times and it's been different each time) the ginger soda is fabulous! If you are going there more for the craft beer, then it is a place you would enjoy. The people have been friendly, but it can take a while to get your food, even when it isn't busy. I've had Old Bakery's beer before as it is readily available in bars and stores throughout St. Louis, but I came here to their brewery for the first time this month. It is a really great atmosphere and so cool to read about its history as an old bakery (hence the name) in all of the displays. We got dinner which had a lot of unique foods such as the fried olives. We enjoyed the fall food offerings as the menu is seasonal so there's always something new. And the selection of beers and other drinks (both alcoholic and non) is extensive. Wish Old Bakery was slightly closer to St. Louis city so I could visit more often. read more
