This is mostly for for the service, because I never got to try the food ....Lol . Ive been in the Restaurant industry for 17yrs and I never experienced an owner being arrogant and being unwelcoming to customers The way I felt at Pane E Vino , My wife and I where excited to try a New Italian place only to be disappointed with the service. It first start with asking the owner who sat us down if we can move to a Bigger table which I felt it was to tight ( I Am a Bigger Guy) and right away he said "No " I even pointed out the table and he replied "what if I get a Bigger Party so I just want with the flow. So when it was time to order my food I ordered the grill Salmon but I kindly asked him if I could add some Shrimp to my plate and right away he said " No " I informed him you can charge me for the extra Shrimp and his response was "the plate comes the way it comes" , I was like Wow really..., at this point I was pissed and felt like this person really don't care to give us good Customer Service, So I felt why should I even eat here. Like I mentioned earlier I've been in the business for 17yrs and I would never imagine treating any of my customers this way . Ive never been so disappointed with a restaurants customer service . My husband, mother, and I decided to try Pan E Vino on Citrus. Small, clean, and busy. The calamari was good. The dipping sauce had a little bit of a kick. My husband ordered the Chicken Parmesan, and it came with spaghetti, and he enjoyed it. I ordered the Fusilli, and it was made with eggplant. Sauce was light, not heavy. My mother ordered the Vongole. She's a picky eater, and she enjoyed it. She ate about half of the dish and even told me that she thought it was very good. I finally came to try their food, and it did not disappoint. We started off with the burrata and it was excellent. My disagree and I both had one if the specials. I got the lobster ravioli and she ordered the clam linguini. It was really good. We ended with cannoli and tiramisu which were both excellent. The service seems to be consistently great! Went in on a whim after work, not expecting much, but was completely blown away with how amazing the food was. I ordered the farfalle, as well as a prosciutto pizza, both cooked perfectly, definitely some of the most authentic tasting Italian food I have had in Southern California. The customer service was above and beyond, my host greeted me the second I walked thru the door, gave me a full run down on the menu, and had a great attitude while doing so. Best pizza and Italian place in Covina. If you are in the mood for great authentic pizza this is the place to go. The crust tastes home made is flakey and crisp, the marinara sauce is absolutely delicious. They also have a great selection of wine. The staff are welcoming and attentive. Delicious food and courteous staff! We could tell that it was a busy night and they have limited servers, but everything tasted delicious and authentic! We will definitely be back. I'm so happy to have found a new date spot. My daughter loved her spaghetti and meatballs. I couldn't find a kids menu so We had to pay more for her own dish, but I didn't mind it since I had extra to eat once she was full. We first came here last summer (and loved it), long before this new way of going to restaurants started. Any-who, my husband and I had a quick dinner date here last weekend and it was just as good as the first time. Is the set up ideal? Not my favorite, but I'm grateful we're out enjoying some sort of normal with delicious food and a wonderful staff who are accommodating. I can't remember our waiter, but he was definitely the reason we stayed for dessert! The food.... The crostini's were gone in minutes! Definitely something to try as an appetizer. I have a gripe with Yelp sometimes, because of either false hours or whatnot. But I purchased a Yelp deal here ($10 for $20) back when they had that deal. Came on a Sunday at 11 and discovered a lock and no one inside really wanted to unlock that lock. Okay. Fast forward 6 months later. Come on a Wednesday at 3pm, finds a lock. They really like locks, don't they? We find out they close from 3-5 for a break and dinner starts at 5. So next time up I decide to come on a Wednesday at 1130. Because if they're not open then, then they just really want me to enjoy that lock. But they are finally open and I can sit inside. It's kinda dark, no one else in there, greeted by who I can believe to be an Italian man, who would be our server for the day. We got a free bread appetizer that I've had better elsewhere. The good thing is olive oil + vinegar is a godsend. You get to enjoy the tastes that those 2 place together. Ordered the lasagna. Heavy. But good. Like really good. Like authentic Italian good. It looked nice and had the green skin, so I would assume they had pesto. But the amount of cheese in there meshes really well with the meat sauce and is so rich. Oh. I don't know how to describe it :P It's insanely good. My friend ordered the fusilli, which is corkscrew pasta, eggplant, smoked mozzarella, tomato. I tasted it. It's also heavy. But also good. Why must Italian food be so good. My friend decided we must go for dessert. But we're full. It's okay. Second stomach time! Triple Chocolate cake. I was in town for the day visiting family and we decided to head down to old town Covina for some dinner. I didn't realize how many places close so early, this area needs some love, luckily Pane E Vino was full of love this Sunday! The sign said it was closing but they stayed open for their customers, I love it! We were immediately greeted by the gracious owner and given a background of the restaurant as well as great detail of the menu. After listening to his mouth watering choices I had to try the Bolognese and I am very glad I did. I also ordered the prosciutto pizza as an appetizer for all of us and it was really really good. The rest of my family ordered the tortellini with chicken, spaghetti and meatballs, meatball sandwich with garlic and parasean fries, chicken parm and the chicken cesar salad. Everyone was very satisfied with their dish. Toward the end of the meal the owner brought us some risotto balls to try and oh my were those delicious. The prices were very reasonable, they offer beer and wine, service was attentive and genuine. The score comes more from the flavor and quality of the appetizers. The mixed mushrooms app was great flavor and portions. It can def sit a little heavy but actually reheated quite well the next day in the toaster oven. The saffron arancini was amazing and a big reason why I'll try some of the other pastas on the menu. The chicken parm was pretty bland, it was a non breaded piece or chicken for those are expecting otherwise. Flavor was ok, but I'm curious to try other things in the menu. Calamari is very crispy but I feel like the sauce is a little too overwhelming cuz it's a bit too sour for me but my bf likes it. The tortellini is really good and it is very creamy. The Piggy Pizza is just okay. It taste just like any other pizza and there is really nothing much special to their Piggy Pizza. Overall, it's still pretty good. Any place that plays disco during my entire lunch is an instant 5-star rating for me. Not only was the food delicious, but the service was exceptional. The owner went out of his way to greet us and ask about how we heard about this place, via our friend Giovani (from Red) And we had asked the waitress for any cider inspired ales, and he came to our table with a nice sparkling hard apple cider bottle. sold... The food here is fantastic. This is one of the best italian restaurant I have ever been to. The food is authentic Italian, not Italian- American so be aware of that. If you are looking for Fettuccine Alfredo, you won't find it here! On the other hand, you will find excellent dishes prepared with fresh ingredients in a traditional way. I have been to this restaurant at least five times and every single time the food has exceeded my expectations. Ask for their specials. They are different every day and they are always delicious. I tried the Linguini al Fruti di Mare in calamari ink. The pasta was home made and really delicious! If you are a wine aficionado, we recommend going to this restaurant on Wednesdays when they waive the corkage fee. Gabriel, the Chef is very nice and always available to talk about his dishes with the clientele. The rest of the staff is also nice and helpful. In one of our recent visits we were served by a waitress named Natasha, who was extremely nice and provided great service. I went at 7pm on a Saturday night to find the restaurant COMPLETELY empty, despite it being in a packed part of Covina village AND offering distanced/patio dining during COVID. All other restaurants were jam-packed and parking was sparse, so to see a restaurant with such good reviews just - COMPLETELY empty was alarming. It seemed I was one of very few to-go orders. It was wild. They were a little disorganized, but I get it - if you've been flicking thru TikTok for the first two hours of your shift, rallying to stay organized can be a drag. Now how was the pizza? It was OK. OOOOK. I ordered a margharita pizza, traditional fixins, trying to scratch the itch after watching Ugly Delicious on Netflix, and like, it didn't really do the trick. Sauce and cheese and seasonings were on point, but the crust was simultaneously flaccid and crunchy-stale. No delicate chew, no yeasty gluten bliss, and it definitely didn't seem blistered in a wood-burning oven. Pizza in the deep suburbs is mediocre, and this fit right in with the rest. But man, y'all, try some bread flour. Let it rise. Let it rest. I don't know what slap-dash business this is to rush greatness, but this is not 4/5 stars pizza as it currently stands. The last time we ate here was close to 8 years ago and it was meant for us to return. My daughter and I wanted to have a little celebratory dinner after going to our last fitting for my daughter's wedding dress. We joked with the owner/server that we fit in our dresses so we came to eat pasta. He congratulated my daughter and gave some words of wisdom for marriage (wow). This set the tone for the rest of our evening. We asked questions about the food and we were given detailed recommendations. This place is so good. It's not the Peroni talking Sister and I came out for an early dinner. Salmon special was perfectly cooked. I had the shrimp scampi with a cesar salad. Both were full of flavor. The cesar salad you can taste the anchovy in the dressing. Sister ordered a tiramisu and just couldn't wait for me to take the picture and took a spoon full. Tonight we ordered 2 pizzas and 2 salads through Uber Eats. The order came to our home in a reasonable time but sadly only the salads arrived. The Uber delivery person just looked at me with a blank look when I asked where is the pizza. They told me once the order is delivered, my only recourse was to call Uber Support. Regardless, I called the restaurant. They knew my pizzas had been left behind and the manager blamed "his new girl" for the mix up. I said I would come to the restaurant personally to get the pizzas. When I arrived, the pizzas were still sitting on the bar and the manager handed them to me. He offered no apology and blamed his new person once again and walked away. Once home, the pizzas were of course stone cold, hard and chewy. Never coming back. Not using Uber Eats again either. read more

I came on a Friday night to celebrate a birthday. I walked in and was approached by a man who did Not greet me what so ever but rather nodded his head at me. I told him how many were in my party and he told me that the only available seating is outside and rushed me out. We waited outside in the cold for a few minutes before being helped. I politely asked the same man to please drop the tarp that was rolled up so that I can be a bit warmer to which he replied, No. i asked why. He said because of dust (which made me think why it is not cleaned regularly). He proceeded to close one of the two tarps that was rolled up and sarcastically said, here at least one. It is mid December and cars are rushing by. So it's very very cold. A nice woman came outside to help us, whom I asked to to roll Down the other tarp which she did happily. More people joined outside and I could be over hear their unhappiness with the service. The food was mediocre. The bread was dry and cold. The food I ate was heavily seasoned with nutmeg. A glass of Wine was almost $10. I like to support small businesses but I am not going to support bad service and over priced over seasoned food. I'm not really into going to new places with someone telling me about their experience first but I had a wonderful and delicious dinner with my family of 5. Raphael was a delight. His Italian accent (I'm bad with accents) was perfect for our dining occasion. I had the spare ribs with noodles instead of the fish Or chicken parmigiana. I'm so glad I chose that the rest of the family really enjoyed their meals too. We are going back for sure. Prices were on par for what we got. 5 people / about $200 including adult beverages.
