One of my favorite restaurants in town. Delicious food, great service, and reasonable prices! I have never been disappointed here.

Pandan Room is one of the best restaurants in Hackettstown. Their food is delicious and they accommodate all dietary needs. This is a frequent go to resturant when we are looking for great food and service. I'm posting another review here on their choice of delivery service - More Convenient. i posted the review below to More Convenients (MC) site but they removed it twice. I think it's important for Pandan to realize that their partnership with MC may cause more harm than good. "Not really more convenient...it's been over 2 hours since I placed my order and still waiting. Called them 40 minutes ago and left a message. No response. Called Pandan and they never received my order. Apparently they have another customer waiting on a "more convenient" order. First time I ordered was great. The second time will be my last." read more

I think I may have already given this place a good review but it's been a while so it's worth a follow up. I have been going here with my family on a regular basis since they opened many years ago and we've always had a great dining experience. In fact we had them cater my wife's 50th birthday party at our home which was a very popular choice. We often go for Dim Sum on Sunday lunchtime and everything is always fresh and delicious so It's become the place we take our out of town visitors and everyone always raves about it. It's also a great place to go with vegetarian and vegan friends as there is something for everyone on the menu. Every meal I've ever had here was wonderful. They have a lamb shank special that is my favorite but make sure you're hungry, it's a big meal. My wife likes her food very spicy hot and Jay, the owner, makes up a special blend for her when we are there that he calls "Olivia hot" try it at your risk. Service is always good. They make it a policy to hire local people and train them and the owners are usually there making sure everything runs properly. The restaurant has a great friendly atmosphere and you get very good value for money. It is also able to cater to small groups in the separate room just off of the main restaurant. They are still going strong after a long time which must tell you something and they have recently opened TOPO, a Vietnamese themed restaurant down the street that is also well worth a visit. As you can tell, I like this place, it's one of my favorite places to eat. Give it a try. read more

The worst Thai food I've ever eaten. We ordered take out for lunch and I ordered the chicken and beef sate. The chicken was completely dried out, I thought I broke a tooth for a minute. The beef was so overcooked and burnt, it just melted to ashes in my mouth, plus the less burnt part, was just as chewy as the chicken. It very closely resembled Chevy Chase eating the burnt turkey in Christmas Vacation. The sticky rice was prepared in a way I've never seen before, I had to cut it with a knife. My co-worker said his was tasteless, no spice or flavor whatsoever. The prices weren't bad, but most of mine went in the trash. I was hoping for more, since they've been in business for awhile. Maybe eating in the restaurant is different, I don't know. read more

My wife and I went here Saturday night for our 15th wedding anniversary. We were seated very quickly. The atmosphere was very upbeat and busy. It was nicely decorated with bright colors. The wait staff were super friendly and attentive. Jay the owner was the host who was seating people and checking on tables as he moved around the restaurant. You can byob here which is nice. The food was delicious we started with the thai avacado salad and thai chicken wings with ginger tea. Then our main dish was bang bang chicken and shrimp and thai paella. All the food was delicious and there were large portions that we wound up taking home. It was very reasonably priced too. I would highly recommend. I know we will be going back soon. read more

My daughter went to college up in Hackettstown and frequented this place often. She always raved about it. We came here as a family in May the day of her graduation. I have to say that the food was delicious and I am not a fan of Thai food at all. I would come here again. read more

Amazing. I've eaten Thai all over and was skeptical. This place blew my socks off.

I like the Pandan room. The menu is HUGE, so many options. I thought the peanut wings were different and tasty... the servers are good and, at the end of the day, it's a BYOB which makes it even more affordable. All told, it's an accessible place in an attractive setting with reasonably priced Thai/Indonesian cuisine. Give it a try if you haven't. read more

I had high hopes, but in my experience the food was mediocre at best. Veggie dumplings and pad thai should be like bread and butter for asian fusion. The service was decent, but it's definitely not the spot for a quiet dinner. read more

Very nice night, I do not like much in hackettstown when it comes to dining but the pan dan room is the exception. The food is always good and the restaurant is nice. I always get the Masaman curry and have never been disappointed. If you find you self going to a movie ( that is when we are in Hackettstown) Try this lace out you will love it. read more

We've had dinner there and now recently dim sum. It was nice to find somewhere local for dim sum. I was a bit hesitant at first. I'm spoiled by the authentic dim sum from Chinatown. We arrived pretty late so the cart selection was limited. Some of the dishes as the shrimp dumpling (har grow) tasted frozen. The sticky rice of carrots and mushroom was delicious! You can also special order from a tray sample they bring out. I liked the selection from there better. We had the crab Rangoon, fritter made with local grown corn and Singpore Mai fun, all excellent! So the wife and I were in the area, and decided to dump the kids off with their grandparents and check out the Pandan room for our date night. We were not disappointed! Decor was cool - we sat outside and the lighting/decorations made it festive. Brittany was our server, and she was friendly and personable and gave us a warm welcome. We started off the with the corn fritters - thai style - with the corn from nearby Donaldsons farm. Pretty good - mainly cause of the unique flavors on the chutneys provided. We also had the avocado salad - a lot of good stuff and flavors. For the main meal - I had the Lombok Tilapia - frigging AWESOME! A lot of fish, with a ton of flavors and a ginger yam puree on the side which was a great complement. The wife had some beef noodles thing which she was happy with. I'll definitely be coming back here. The menu had a "traditional" Thai menu, as well as stuff I've never seen elsewhere. For the most part - I'll probably continue to try the items i've never seen/heard of before. Great food, great service. I'll be back. And very reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. Best Tom Ka Ghai soup, if not the best soup I have ever had. I would eat this everyday for lunch. I only ordered the small and got an entire chicken breast in there. The atmosphere was cozy / clean / modern. Very reasonable prices. Great place for a date or a family. Can't wait to try everything else. read more

Food was Ok. Service was not! We had kitchen staff seated next to us for the duration of our meal, folding napkins and loudly cleaning silverware. Also, it wasn't great having Windex sprayed very generously in our general direction while we dined. Terrible music and sub-par Thai food at best. read more

Great meal at Pandan on Saturday 2/10. Loved chicken wing appetizer and Thai salad. Forgot to ask for dressing on the side, unless you like generous amounts.... The Pad Thai was fabulous and they made it nice and spicy just the way we like it. Don't forget this place is BYOB. It is wheelchair accessible, but the parking is a bit of a hike and the snow and slush was not well cleared, so really messy getting in. Great service from Leona. read more

Having been someone who dined in the same room as the gentleman "CJ" who posted a comment, it's factually inaccurate and I'd like to clarify. The "kitchen" staff who was folding silverware is a server at the restaurant and is a pleasure to have. He was just completing his job as the restaurant is small and the server area not big enough to complete all side-work. The music is of course authentic and really adds to the feel of the food/restaurant decor. The restaurant was beginning to close up as us diners finished our meals, it was relatively close to their closing time (kitchen closes around 9:30). I also highly doubt anyone who worke there went out of their way to spray windex in their general direction. We love Pandan and make it a point to go there as often as we can! Hands down best restaurant in Hackettstown, next to its sister restaurant Topo. They serve deliciously fresh food that has the perfect amount of flavors and textures. My favorite menu item is the red curry. It's got the best flavor and is a solid win every time. The restaurant also offers cooking classes to share the experience of making a dish and enjoying it. It was well worth it and definitely I recommend it if you enjoy cooking. This place will never disappoint. read more

What a surprise this place was! We moved To the area recently and have been ordering a lot of take-out (still so surprised at how many places in Hackettstown area don't deliver!). I feel like Thai can be a crap shoot sometimes, and this one paid off. We ordered the spring roll medley, which were really good. They came with dipping sauce, and were very tasty (I'm sure they are way better fresh from fryer when eating in the restaurant). I had the green curry with chicken for my dinner, and it was fabulous. A gigantic portion of rich green curry was filled with lots of different vegetables and served over white rice. I'm and eater, and I couldn't finish it (which makes me super excited for lunch tomorrow!). I lived in Washington DC for four years and always got Thai at this one place and could never grind green curry to top theirs, and I finally did tonight! So excited! My husband got the Pad Thai, filled with veggies and chicken and shrimp. I don't like pad Thai, and I liked this one. Definitely try this place out! read more

Tried this place for the first time last night and was blown away by the food and service! There were 6 of us so we had the opportunity to try a bunch of appetizers.. curry puff, coconut spring rolls, bang bang shrimp, edamame sumai, and a beef skewer. ALL were fantastic and came with delicious dipping sauces. Pad Siew, Pad kie mau, Duck and Crab Cake were all ordered as entrees and were outstanding! We were a late arriving table which usually means crappy service in other places but our server, Tori, was very attentive and able to make suggestions! She was absolutely spectacular and put up with us until we were the second to last table to leave the restaurant. As we were leaving, Jay the owner even came out and said goodbye to us! It was such a great experience and we will DEFINITELY be making this our new spot to go for Thai! read more

Have eaten here several times and have had mixed experiences. I enjoy going in the summer, bringing beer (it's byo) and enjoying time with friends. It's a nice atmosphere outside. However I ate here last week and inside was a little less inviting. The food took literally an hour to come out and wasn't as well prepared as last time. I still enjoyed however we were not given any apologies or modifications to makeup for the fact that our food took an hour to come out. With a lot of restaurant options in the area including Asian fusion, I will skip going back here. read more

Crazy good, unique Thai food. I'm no Thai expert, but have had plenty at different places. This place blows everything else away! The food specials are an amazing blend of flavor and ingredients. I had a crab cake with kale and pumpkin in a delectable yellow curry sauce. I think it was one of the best things I've ever eaten! Also ordered was the Osso buco special, which fell off the bone into a delicious sauce. They use locally sourced ingredients which I really respect. The waitress was beyond attentive and helpful. She was fantastic! And the place is so cute inside! My only negative is that it's a 40 minute drive from my house. read more
