They told me they would charge me today for the missed appointment. If I didn't want to be charged I needed to come in today. If I came in today, they would change the appointment to a sick visit in which case I would still need to be charged. I asked if they would charge no matter what today, and the front office person said "I guess". This is what is wrong with medical offices nowadays. They look for ways they can profit instead of doing what is best for each child. I'm very disappointed. Profits over the child wellbeing.

Dr. Holmes came highly recommended by Kristie W. at AAOBGYN and the pediatrician at St. David's North Austin Hospital. Their front desk, Dahlia, was very helpful in answering my questions, and flexible while I was in the hospital. We weren't sure if we were getting discharged after five or six nights, and Dahlia said it would be alright for me to call her at 8 am if we hadn't been discharged yet to reschedule the appointment for the next day. All of their pediatricians are open to delaying vaccines. I delayed the hepatitis B vaccine at the hospital as my baby was battling jaundice as a preemie. I trust Raquel, the nurse practioner who hails from Southside Chicago. She is very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of my questions on vaccines. She explained that the Pediatric RSV antibodies shot is not technically a vaccine per se, even though it's called a vaccine. She showed me the list of ingredients for the RSV antibodies shot which does not contain any preservatives or aluminum so that I felt comfortable giving him the shot one day after discharge. So far we really like Dr. Holmes. He's knowledgeable, kind, and gentle with our baby. He gives great advice to first time parents and isn't rigid on rules and feeding times as long as our baby is gaining weight. Our lactation consultant was giving us rigid rules and stressing us out, where as Raquel and Dr. Holmes put our minds at ease and said to keep doing what we're doing since our baby is gaining weight.

This is a simple procedure that can certainly be done at a regular clinic. Does he do this with all his patients so he doesn't have to actually practice medicine? If we ever use this place again, we will make sure to try a different provider since he cannot be bothered. There should not be a wait when you're one of the first appointments of the day either. In sum, missed school, missed work, easily fixed health issue still present.

However, I scheduled another after hours appointment for the same illness that keeps coming back and 10 minutes before my appointment starts they call to cancel my appointment saying I cannot be seen and will need to reschedule for an in hours appointment. They were unable to accommodate me even though I was feeling awful. I had even paid the $55 after hour fee already, which was a hassle to get a refund for. I think it's unacceptable to be treating patients this way who have been seen by the same office for years. This was also after many hours of back and forth conversation on the portal app, which got me no sense of help/relief.

I waited to give my daughter the heb B vaccine in the hospital because she was in the NICU and was very small, so I wanted to wait a few weeks to her due date to start her vaccines. Dr Baine put a lot of pressure on me and gave me a horror story about a woman who didn't know she had Hep B and gave it to her child. The follow up at my daughters two week was the same.. more pressure about not having the vaccine yet. My daughter actually looks forward to going to the doctor for her check ups. I think it's because she likes to ask Dr. Joe about his cats. The two of them will chat about their pets and share funny animal pics with each other. It is silly, but things like this continue to build upon their relationship and I just love that. Another bonus point is this office is a Covid vaccine site. They provide the vaccines for all of their patients, as well as their caregivers. At my daughter's last visit, we were both able to get our booster shots at the end of the visit. Sweet! It's a one shop vaccine stop. But Dr Cheng had some few reviews and they were all positive! Im glad I picked him to be our boys pediatrician. All of my boys (age 8, 5, and 22 months) love and trust him. He is very fun and engages the children in silly conversation. He explains everything to the children and guides them through step by step through the examination. No surprises and no tears! He is also great in following up with you if you came in with something more serious than a cold and little bruise. Hands on one of the best pediatric we had (and we had quite a bit of experience with dr as we have three very active boys!)

He listens to the parents without interruptions and always tries to find a solution that he feels is best for both the parents and the child. He is friendly and very patient. His office staff could learn some manners, but that should be no reflection on Dr. Cheng! I'm happy to finally have a good pediatrician!
