Have been looking for a good Chinese food place. Since I worked in Sycamore I tried most of them for lunch. Nothing really made me wanting more. A few weeks ago I decided to try Panda House. They delivered me food with a fly inside. I called them to ask for a new order and they said "NO". Then I asked for a refund and they said "NO" and hung up on me I called them back several times, and the lady repeatedly hung up on me. I wouldn't ever recommend them they are rude and nasty and stealing from customers. read more

Ordered food for delivery. Waited an hour and a half because I understand that places are shorthanded and sometimes things go wrong. But the woman on the phone said it was delivered already, when it absolutely was not. She just kept repeating that it was already delivered, and when i said i didn't understand and explained that i never got my food, she said okay and hung up. I called again half hour later. We tried talking it out but the language barrier was too bad. She seemed to think it had been delivered. I knew it had not. She sighed, slammed the phone down, had an argument with someone in the restaurant, and the. Picked up. "Hello? Sorry. Okay." And hung up. Then a refund hit my bank account. So I ate something else. Then an hour later the owner of the restaurant tried to deliver my food. I didn't feel right taking it because I already had a refund. So I refused. He said I owed him money. I told him the order had been canceled and I got a refund. I told him it had been over two hours since I ordered, and I apologized but I wasn't going to take the food or pay for it. He went back to his car, screamed into the open driver's side door at a woman inside. They argued for a while, and then they left. Save yourself the hassle of having an angry man show up at your house thinking you owe him money. Get food literally anywhere else. read more

Lady was very rude and nasty! I came in to ask for sweet and sour sauce I kept asking because she didn't understand me or maybe didn't want to. Then when she realized I didn't want to order and just wanted sweet and sour sauce she told me to leave and kept repeating "go" "go" and refused me a small packet of sauce!! This place made me sick!! I was in the bathroom all night long. Which sucks because they delivered promptly and is the closest Chinese place that delivers near me. I have been coming to Panda House through three owners for a total of nineteen years and the last couple of years the food has been absolutely getting worse and worse! I only get three items off of the menu so that's why I gave them two stars because I can't speak to all of the food tasting nasty. The chicken wings have so much well, I don't know what type of seasoning they use but it is too much, and I can hardly eat it and sometimes it's not all the way cooked, or it is cooked too much! It's a crap shoot on what you are going to get. My main complaint is the shrimp fried rice that I get! They don't even fry it with eggs, onions, and peas anymore! Well, I can do without the peas but how can you call it fired rice without eggs and onions! It just looks like a clump of white rice made to look like fired rice. Awful! I ordered here for the first time on 4/17/20. It was of the the worst experience I've ever encountered. After an hour and 30 minutes waiting for my food to be delivered I called the restaurant to see what the stays was. After the 37th time calling I finally got through and when the guy picked up he said stop stop stop hold and placed the phone down when I began explaining that I placed an order online. After 10 minutes on hold a women picked up the phone and said hello??? I said hello she said oh what you need. I explained to her I was checking on my order. She told me it was on the way. After 2 hours of waiting we finally got our food. We live 12 minutes from the restaurant. After I called and asked about the food. Exactly 13 minutes later my food arrived. They forgot about my order! Not to mention after eating the food my wife got super sick all night with what appears to be food poisoning. I would stay clear of this place. read more

Ordered vegetable dumplings with spicy tofu. The dumplings fell apart the moment they were touched and they used silken tofu so it literally jiggled and had a jello consistency. It was awful. I will not be back. The upside was it was delivered super quick. read more

I ordered through their website and it did not work out twice, but it went through I guess The website comes up with an error and doesn't confirm the order so they just place it on their own. Then They call and ask for my cc info again and I got an error and they said no it went through for one and not the other. I said well I thought it wasnt working so I made other food instead and to cancel the order instead. Then I got hung up on. Lo and behold someone shows up with food. I explain and he says it happens often there. I called back and tried to talk to someone and I got hung up on once. So I called back go hung up on. The third time was just a pick up and immediate hang up. So do not bother with this place. Food isnt that great anyways to begin with. An new option for delivered Chinese food is a great addition to DeKalb. The phone service is friendly. The delivery person provided good customer service. However, the taste of the cuisine falls short. Egg drop soup is bland. Beef in broccoli beef is chewy. Chicken & Vegetable lo mein is sparse on Chicken and Vegetables. Spicy beef contains mostly onions providing a great adventure in search of beef. While tasty, the beef is not at the desired spice level. read more

I would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy. I understand due to COVID-19 restaurants have to go under different protocols but they have you stand in a small Corredor with a table blocking the door not allowing anyone to enter OK cool. They us gloves to touch your card OK cool. But then why am I expected to sign a receipt with a pen and that has not been disinfected in God know how long. I simply asked for them to clean the pan or provide me with a clean one and the door was slammed in my face. Panda house is genuine good Chinese food! They have a very large menu, and their food is quality and delicious. Some of my favorites are the Singaporean Rice Noodles which have a bit of a kick and are cooked in a yellow curry sauce with shrimp, chicken, and pork! I also love the appetizer steamed dumplings, the sesame chicken, and the sweet and sour chicken. Service is friendly and prompt and prices are reasonable :) read more

This was my first time ordering from here and I was impressed! The food came promptly and even with my special order ( food allergies ) they got it all correct! The delivery driver also double checked my order again with me at the door and made sure I wasn't allergic to anything they put in. How sweet The only reason I'm not giving it five stars was because some of my veggies were still crunch like they weren't cooked all the way. Next time I know to ask! Great first impression! First impressions mean a lot. And wow- was my first impression here ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. 1- I went in there at Noon on a Saturday. Their hours of operation said that they are open starting at 11AM. So I waited around. A worker came out from the kitchen, looked at me, then COMPLETELY IGNORED ME. Trying to be understanding, I waited thinking that he would get a greeter. Then he disappeared into the kitchen. So I decided to sit, in front of the desk, and wait. Then another customer walked in. 2- once the second customer came in, a second employee greeted the second customer and were prepared to serve her FIRST after I had been waiting for 15 minutes by that point. The employee had answered her question & DIDNT EVEN ASK ME WHAT I WANTED! Instead, he too, disappeared back into the kitchen. I wouldn't even give them this 1 star. If anything- I would've taken away stars. All I wanted was a drink and they couldn't even bother to ask me if I wanted to order anything. I don't see any reason for this rude service. It would have been nice to let me know if something was wrong or if they had a problem or something! But to completely ignore me was uncalled for & unprofessional. Every time I visit my boyfriend at NIU, it's an absolute must to get food from Panda House! Our favorites would have to be the General Tso's Chicken and Orange Chicken; the regular portion is quite generous and the chicken is always hot, tender, and flavorful. We haven't tried the buffet, but if you're a fan of freshly cooked food, then I'd recommend ordering from the menu. If you find yourself here at lunch time, then they have a pretty reasonably priced lunch menu; whatever dish you order will come with the option of an egg roll or a soda (I suggest opting for the soda since their egg rolls seem a little bland). It's much better than Panda Express, if you ask me! You'll definitely get more for your buck at Panda House and the food won't disappoint. read more

Excellent Chinese comfort food. Delivery is always the best, even when its -40 they deliver. THAT IS SERVICE! they have a great deal about free food when you spend a certain amount. Also their buffet is clean, they are regular adding fresh food to, and the price is just right. Where else can you go and get great food, all you can eat for 6.95 with a drink?!? It's my go to Chinese store in DeKalb. On campus, directly across the street from Dusable, and great time of 11-3pm all you can eat buffet. Definitely a must go to. It is very affordable option to Chinese food with a huge menu. Their food seems to be really good, but not as highest quality as I've had before. All in all, 5 stars for being my go to place in DeKalb for the 4 years I've been here. This place is operated by idiots. If you phone in an order for delivery, they will repeat your credit number out loud, which means anyone in the restaurant can write it down and use it. This is in spite of REPEATED requests that Panda House staff answering the phone NOT REPEAT IT OUT LOUD. If you complain and ask to speak with a manager, the woman on the phone says he/she is not in. Ehhh... Pork fried rice is good, a little sweeter taste than I have had before. This place should really should amend their menu with quotations around the "beef" chop suey. This little Chinese restaurant & carry-out tucked way in the lower level of the Village Commons Bookstore plaza right on the NIU campus might not stand out at first glance but it really is a gem! The food is excellent and is one of my two favorite Chinese restaurants in the whole DeKalb-Sycamore area. The portions are ample, the food is very tasty, the menu has an excellent variety of dishes, the prices are very reasonable and the staff is very friendly. Two weeks in a row I put in a regular order. Last week it took an hour and 15 minutes to receive my order. He finally got here and he said that someone else didn't show up for work. Cool, I understand that. Today I ordered at 11:30am but it took till 11:45am for the lady to understand what I was ordering. It is now 1:15pm and I still haven't received it. They called and said that the delivery driver couldn't come to my building because he's banned from the University campus. The delivery driver was put on the phone and he explained to me why he couldn't deliver the order. He said his boss didn't understand him. I told him I'd try. I told him to send a different driver and explained that his driver couldn't come to campus without being arrested. I don't think he understood still. He said that it was on the way. And here I wait. I'm going to call back because my husband has offered to go pick it up. That ought to be fun. I'm really pissed! read more
