Had lunch with my son and they provided large generous portions of food. Very satisfied. Place was new so everything was clean.

Once inside, it was relatively small & rather dark. There was a cook & a lady taking orders. She was very friendly & helpful! I ordered the special for this day (2 topping calzone & drink.) They have a LOT of choices! It was also made to order. While not the biggest one I've had it was very good! I will definitely be back elwhen I get the chance!!

Pros - Service- There was one guy making the food and taking orders and he was KILLING it! Smile on his face, working hard, and just doing an amazing job - Food- Our table ordered two calzones, a panini, two pizzas, breadsticks, and the Pickles app. All food was served hot and was yummy! Lots of topping and "filling" for pizza. - Pricing- The prices have gone up (from the prices listed on Yelp, but still aren't bad for what you get. - Atmosphere- Very cozy and comforting. Fun and laid back (also had amazing 90s music playing) Cons- -Parking- The only con I can see if the parking situation which can be a bit tricky depending on how many people are dining in. Overall a great experience for this cute and fun (hole-in-the-wall) that you won't be disappointed in.

Chinese salad with chicken and "breadsticks" (2) : the breadstick is one, realistically, cut in half, but they call this two.

Their soft serve ice cream is nothing short of amazing, and the fresh, cooked-to-order hamburgers are a perfect savory counterpart; the barbecue burger, in particular, is an absolute must-try. My wife raves about their frozen treats, expertly blending soft serve with cookie dough and M&M's. It's clear this place is a gem when both loyal locals and curious tourists consistently flock here. The building itself, an iconic fixture in Lafayette since the 1960s, holds a rich history as one of the area's first drive-ins, adding an extra layer of nostalgia to every delicious bite. Despite the consistently long wait of about 15 minutes, the efficient service, rated 8/10, keeps things moving, ensuring you get your treats swiftly. Parking is surprisingly easy, a huge plus for a popular spot. While the energetic atmosphere (9/10) is undeniable, it's worth noting that Budges doesn't cater specifically to young children, lacking highchairs and perhaps better suited for older kids or adults looking for a classic drive-in experience. I will be back!

I went with the 5+5 which came with 5 fingers and 5 wings, toast, and fries. I enjoyed the fingers to most as they were tender and marinated well. The wings seemed to be a little overdone. I had them in Mango Habanero and it was more Mango than Habanero. The fries were good and crispy with good seasoning. The toast is laughable though. Do they just throw a piece of white bread on the grill back there and viola toast?! There are so many sauces and with this meal, you only got 2 choices. I added an extra sauce for 49 cents. I chose Slim's sauce, cayenne ranch, and spicy BBQ. I enjoyed the Spicy BBQ the most. The other 2 were good too. The Slim's is like no other sauce I've had before. It's like a very smooth tomato-pepper sauce. They had refreshingly sweet tea which is difficult to find in Indiana! They also had peach tea and raspberry tea. I would go eat Slim Chickens again. We need more chicken finger joints up here in the Midwesr like we have down south.

Thinking they might have been shorthanded but those who were on staff were very attentive. It was a pre-graduation snack for a niece at Purdue. It was just the right amount of food to then go and watch a ceremony. My niece and her mom and another aunt went afterwards to go grab some sort of dessert layered in a glass. It looked really good, but it was too much for me at the moment. Definitely good flavors!! Clean and open concept restaurant. It was efficient.

2 stars. TL;DR -…read moreroot beer in frosted glass is divine; onion rings were delicious; service is lacking. We were intrigued by the root beer and loved the idea of enjoying it in a frosted mug, so we popped over for dinner. We ordered a myriad of things, all of which were eventually served in one giant paper tray with zero markings to identify what was what. And our root beers? Served in paper cups. When we asked about the frosted mugs, we were told they were about to close and had suspended tray service. However, the car that pulled in AFTER us received frosted mugs... and so did the folks seated at the picnic tables. So... huh? We flagged down a different carhop and asked why those patrons were still being served mugs. Again, we were told it was because they were about to close. But the sign clearly stated they closed at 10 PM, and both parties arrived after us and received mugs after we'd already been told service was suspended. Was this a case of dining while Black? In this current political climate, I honestly never know. I certainly pray that wasn't the case. The carhop apologized and didn't offer any additional excuses. She simply said she'd speak with the manager. Shortly thereafter, two frosted mugs appeared, filled with some of the creamiest root beer I've had in quite some time. I prayed over mine again because, listen... I worked in restaurants. I've seen crazy things. For the record, the hours posted on the menu board are incorrect. They actually close at 9 PM on Saturdays, not 10. And right at 9, the lights shut off completely. So if you plan to keep eating, you'll need to turn on your dome light like it's a tailgate party. The onion rings and root beer were genuinely enjoyable. The hot dogs, burgers, fries, and fried mushrooms were mid. Just... meh. Nothing to write home about. But what truly irritated me was the corn dog. Everybody knows the best part of a corn dog is that crispy little batter nugget near the stick. WHY would they scrape it off?!?!?! Who does that? Why would you intentionally remove the batter from the stick? I was absolutely appalled. Pffft! I'd return for the root beer or maybe a root beer float, but I'd strongly advise arriving before 8:30 PM if you actually want the full frosted mug experience.
