Very hard, very dry no sauce very confusing type of meat

Went to this location yesterday ordered a three meals not one of them was right now in their defense they were just about closed about 20 minutes out so I let my wife and her friend pick which one they were going to eat and I took the third I didn't finish it. I'm a big boy. I didn't finish it because, I don't know what this was.

Sign on door

Arrived at 9:10 pm, they're open until 10;00. They were out of ALL TYPES of rice and maybe a few main courses, just chow mein for a side available, and they were mopping up the dining room floor already! This reaks of lets close early and do a minimum job. Rice should is a basic side and a cheap staple. If you can't afford to open a bag of rice one hour before closing, you can't afford anything so just close the business permanently.

Honey Sesame Chicken Breast, string beans, Side Chow Mein, fried rice

first time trying panda express. i feel like panda express gets so much shade because the owner has never been to China. so i went into this experience with very very low expectations. i guess i wasn't disappointed? almost pleasantly surprised. It was decent food but definitely very americanized. The fried rice and the chow mein were standard. String beans were a bit undercooked. The sesame chicken definitely could've been crispier but the flavor of the sauce was pretty good - a nice mix of sweet and sour which i liked.

Where's the beef? Haven't taken a single bite and all I have is broccoli...
Jonathan B.

I have been here a few times before, and it frequently disappoints with long wait times, entree items not available, or even closing early. The last time I went, my girlfriend and I left without being served because the short line in the restaurant, wasn't moving. I swore to never return, and only came back this time because I was given a gift card. On getting home, I opened the plate (2 entrees and a side) and discovered that my beef and broccoli entree, should have been more aptly named, broccoli only. See the picture and you'll understand why. This place is a disaster. I'm unsure if it's a management issue or a worker issue or both, but don't come. They are horrible.

Orange Chicken with Extra Plastic Bag. Delicious.

I purchased two meals, going through the drive through. When I got home and my family started eating, we found a large plastic bag in our orange chicken. I feel sick having taken a few bites of food with garbage in it. We threw the entire order away. Avoid this Panda Express.

I always know what I'm getting when I go to a Panda Express. It's not the best Chinese I've ever had but it's consistently delicious and exactly what I want sometimes. They do a good job keeping the seating areas clean and maintained. Orange chicken is definitely a staple but I haven't found anything there I haven't enjoyed, branch out sometime!

China Gate is Chinese restaurant in South Euclid. You'll find it at Cedar Center North Plaza. It's…read morea convenient stop if you're shopping nearby. Also, a central destination if you're tracking from South Euclid, Cleveland Heights, or Beachwood. I was craving Chinese food for dinner and stopped here for takeout. It won't be by regular takeout destination. AMBIANCE: China Gate is a takeout only place. The restaurant is very small and not so clean. Half of the restaurant and seating is obstructed by random boxes and storage. There are three tiny tables inside. The chairs and tables are affixed to each other with little room between the two. It's impossible to sit comfortably. It was very uncomfortable to even sit and wait for takeout. Dining in is not a good option. FOOD: The menu is multi-page containing options like combo plates, soups, fried rice, lo mein, and other familiar favorites. Spicy dishes are clearly denoted in the menu. There is a pink sheet with up charges for items - oil, soy sauce, fortune cookies, and others. I ordered Sesame Seed Chicken Combo Plate ($14) and Wonton Soup ($6.50). There were plenty of problems with my order. The main one being it wasn't quite my order. Sesame Seed Chicken Combo Plate comes with pork fried rice and egg roll. My order came with small white rice, no egg roll. There was a generous portion of chicken (container full) but it was awful. It was not a cohesive dish. Some pieces were very dry, others too soggy. Some were sweet, others a bit sour. The chicken was not evenly coated in sesame seed and honey sauce. So it was essentially half sauced. The sauce tasted like honey from honey bear container that was extremely diluted. The sesame seeds tasted slightly burned. The entire dish was bland - not sweet, not salty, nothing. Won Ton soup was not good. The broth was considerably darker than similar soup at other places. There was too much onion. The won tons had a lot of dough and teeny tiny meat pieces inside. Single pieces of meat were nice but they were too fatty. Overall, the soup was too concentrated/dark soup base but also lacking flavor. SERVICE: Service was chaotic. I walked in to place an order in person. The employee took orders of multiple people calling in before acknowledging me. I was standing right in front of her. She was raising her voice at customers on the phone and almost arguing about what the orders contained. I will say that there were lots of questions asked to ensure that the orders were right on the phone. Average wait time provided was 10-15 minutes. My order was up very quickly. Overall, I found service to be very unwelcoming and too animated. SOUVENIRS: Cute glass and ceramic Chinese horoscope figurines are available at the counter. It is unclear if they are for sale, no prices are listed on them. PARKING: Large parking lot is available at this plaza. Plenty of places to park. I was pretty disappointed with my visit. I didn't get the right order. My order was not tasty at all. I'll sound silly, but after tasting my meal, I strongly considered immediately going to another Chinese restaurant for another takeout. I will not be returning because no part of my visit was satisfying.

See pictures I took of the menu I grabbed inside when picking up my dinner in November of 2024. Since there likely isn't much overhead costs since this place is mainly takeout-only, the food isn't too expensive for just how MUCH you get! Guys, it's so much food, I'm not even joking. It was also tasty, although sort of basic, and I was excited to dig into my left over pad thai the next day. I can see myself ordering here again in the future, although it would be for the lunch menu which looks to have some great deals!

The window was full of dying plants starved for attention (after the waitress pronounced one plant dead, my date took it home and revived it. She ought to open a Plant Rescue!) I ordered the General Tsao's Chicken because I just moved from South Florida where I saw plenty of Thai but no Chinese. Happy Buddha was above average. I say that only because I was desperate for Chinese food. So, I even took a little home for later. It was OK. I don't remember what my date ordered although I remember her description: "It's OK." (Our new mantra)? That was unusual since she's typically got plenty to say about everything. (You could point out a dead bug on the sidewalk and she'll honor you with a 65 minute soliloquy on the bug describing its tragic end and the life it could have enjoyed if humankind didn't stack the deck against it). Typically, I'd give Happy Buddha a second chance before giving it 4 or fewer stars. But I don't wanna go back.

It has a great vibe while still feeling comfortable and welcoming. The wait staff was fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, full of flavor, and unlike anything I've had before. The bao buns were absolutely amazing. For the quality of the food, atmosphere, and service, the value was fantastic as well. I would add the portions were kinda small and felt more like an appetizer but the taste was amazing I actually walked in thinking I was going to a diner and ended up discovering one of the coolest lunch spots I've been to in a long time. Sometimes the best experiences are the ones you don't plan! I'm already looking forward to coming back for dinner and bringing my wife and friends. Highly recommend Abundance!

I have been lucky enough to eat at some amazing restaurants in North America and throughout Europe…read more I really wanted to leave a great review for this local restaurant... I really wanted to. Since a number of our friends have been to this establishment and left great reviews, I really wanted to do the same. I really wanted to. However, I'm struggling to do so. It started with our table not being ready yet, no worries there, we understand. The host took us to a lovely little alcove and sat the four of us down and we were quickly approached by the Sommelier. This establishment obviously takes their wine very seriously, almost to the point of being pretentious. But not all of us are wine drinkers. Due to an allergy to sulfites. When we looked at the list of available mixed drinks, nothing really appealed... So my wife asked for a simple vodka and tonic. She was informed that that was not one of the "APPROVED" drinks that they offered. What !?! They have vodka, they have tonic... Why can't we get what we want? When my friend requested an IPA he was informed that IPAs don't pair well with the food offerings, consequently, they do not have that option. Frankly, shouldn't that be HIS decision what he feels pairs with HIS palette and not the restaurants? Just a bit pretentious. Did I mention I really wanted to write a great review? So we sucked it up and ordered two glasses of overpriced white wine ($18 for a glass of mediocre wine) and two of the "approved" drinks offered. At this point, I'd like to state that the service we received other than the initial pretension exhibited by the wine Sommelier, was amazing. Our waiter was attentive and well trained and the support staff made sure that our water glasses were filled. Thankfully, I can leave a great review with regards to them. Now to the food... the dumpling sampler was delicious. The four of us ordered the ribs, the duck, the beef and I ordered the Dan Dan noodles. Honestly, almost all of the dishes were deliciously prepared, albeit a bit modest on the quantity of food presented. Our waiter initially suggested that these could be shared... I'm not sure how we would do that with the smaller plates offered as entrées. My noodles, however, came out as a solid chunk of over microwaved noodles, the kind that you get if you forget to take your Costco ramen out of the microwave in time. It was a solid block of dried out noodles. I was about to call our waiter over and ask that they give it another shot. When out of the corner of my eye I saw my wife giving me "the look", don't make it a thing her eyes said to me. So I took my chopsticks and pried the noodles apart, and tried to mix them with the sauce as best as I could. So to summarize; *A little too pretentious on the whole drink thing. I think they're trying too hard. *Service was great *Three out of four entrees were a success * $17 for a mixed drink is pricey but doable, $18 for mediocre wine not so much. As I mentioned, I really wanted to leave a good review... sadly other than the waiter and the support staff I find it difficult to do. Thank you

We've been here before and enjoyed their classic dishes, especially the fried rice, but this time we wanted to explore their dim sum menu. We tried the shrimp and pork dumplings, Thai curry, chicken corn shumai, and pumpkin dessert mochi custard buns. The Thai curry wasn't really for us, and the dumplings overall were good but fairly average compared to other dim sum we've had. Our favorite savory dish was definitely the chicken corn shumai! The real star of the meal, though, was the pumpkin mochi custard buns. They were TO DIE FOR! Definitely save room for dessert. Pricing is reasonable, especially for a restaurant this nice. One thing to note is that the dim sum menu is only available for lunch on Fridays and Saturdays, so plan accordingly! Overall, Lao Sze Chuan is a solid choice if you're looking for Chinese food in a beautiful setting with good service. We enjoyed trying the dim sum, but we wish they had more soup dumpling options and a few more standout dumplings. We'll happily come back for their classic dishes, and those pumpkin buns are worth a return visit alone!

We ended with the Three cup chicken with basil and garlic and it is a real experience for the palette and tongue... no doubt. I am going to try to give it justice. A large warming dish is brought out with a side of steamed rice. No big deal, but nice start. Crispy chicken in all sizes, tiny pieces of peppercorn and chili peppers and huge slices of endless roasted garlic. Incredibly delicious and no garlic left behind! The key to this plentiful entree is the hidden surprise of the Chinese peppercorn delicacy that gives the sides of your tongue an unexpected tingling and "numbness" that awakens your senses. A zing of citrus hits the center of your tongue but not in every bite. If you have never tasted a dish with these, it is a must-have! I told the manager upon leaving that this is the best dish I have actually ever enjoyed , fully. A little heat but beyond that, the meal was not only tasty but genuinely satisfying. Take this to heart from a foodie and a food snob!
