Fortune cookie with dark muddy suspicious substance

Found something suspicious in my cookie I went to Panda Express Solona Beach on 3/26/26 for some plain rice. The rice itself was fine, but the fortune cookie that came with it was sealed in its own plastic bag. When I opened it, it was filled with a dark, muddy-looking questionable substance that looked like mold or possibly rodent droppings. I didn't eat the cookie, but it was extremely alarming and completely unacceptable. I'm posting this to warn others and hope the restaurant takes food safety seriously.

Very tasty. Whenever I have the chance, I stop by Panda Express. Good prices and excellent staff

Great food and amazing service! The atmosphere is perfect, and it's the best location in all of San Diego. Highly recommended for both locals and visitors!

This is pretty darn healthy for fast food. Clean and fairly quick. If they don't have the dish you want ready they will cook it up for you fresh. Works for me.

Eggplant Tofu

Date of visit: February 6, 2019 After the UYE I went to at Wax and Whimsy, I realized I needed to get some dinner for my folks... and as since I had parked across from Panda Express, made the decision to get some quick and easy Americanized Chinese food. If you've been to a Panda Express, you pretty know what to expect... but this particular location has something that most of the other Panda Express ones don't: the EGGPLANT TOFU! I was bummed that this had been taken off the majority of the restaurants in the chain, but we found out that only four in San Diego County still carry it (this one, the one in Clairemont Mesa, and two others in the South Bay). Also, the mixed veggies have now been replaced with a combination of stir-fried broccoli, kale, and bok choy... and it tastes much better! And... even though I missed out on the Lunar New Year promotion the day prior, they still had the red gift envelopes which I was lucky to get with my purchase. Good food, relatively healthy, and looking forward to getting that Eggplant Tofu on my drives back from seeing my girlfriend up north!

They no longer have tofu option. I no longer go there. They should have a tofu green been option instead of just chicken beef shrimp.

There is "patio" seating which has a great breeze near the windows and there are booths inside as well. We were seated right away and had no issues finding parking! We did go on a Monday for lunch though! I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was. Definitely recommend and will be back to try more items on the menu. Food review: ** I loveeeee a lunch special haha. These all came with a hot&sour soup, veggie eggroll, crab Rangoon, cucumbers, egg fried rice, and orange slices. ** Sesame honey chicken: (5/5) Delicious sauce and perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Black pepper steak: (4/5) Super tender and flavorful! String beans: (5/5) BOMBB. Idk what they put on these, but I could easily eat an entire serving of these!

One of the better locations of Chin's Szechwan imo. We ordered some our favorites: Hot and sour soup - Rich and chock full of crunchy bamboo shoots and mushrooms. Great textural experience. We love the crispy noodles that come with, both in the soup and as a little snack on the side dipped in hot mustard/chili sauce. Tofu chop suey - Nice variety of vegetables. The fried tofu soaks up all the flavor of the white sauce, definitely the protein to get with this dish. Crispy pork - A little salty, definitely needs the rice it comes with, but otherwise super delicious, savory, crisp lightly battered pork. Definitely recommend. Reminiscent of Beijing beef but with pork. Not a super strong pork flavor under all the seasoning so I wouldn't hesitate if you're looking for a substitute for crispy Beijing beef. The portion for this was very generous. Spicy Honey Sesame Chicken - Their version of orange chicken. A little more heavily breaded but super delicious and a little tangy. Definitely hit the spot for my craving. Garlic scallops - Comes with nice variety of veggies in a rich and spicy (optional) sauce. Scallops were a little chewy. All dishes come with customizable spice level. They also served us free rice and tea upon request.

The fact that they were vegan-friendly immediately earned a spot on my radar. After a long work…read moreweek, I pictured myself enjoying a quiet, peaceful dinner where I could decompress and recharge. Instead, I accidentally walked into what felt like the culinary cousin of a nightclub. The music was pumping, the energy was high, and any thoughts of a tranquil retreat disappeared faster than my appetizer. Maybe it's a completely different vibe during the day, but at night, this place is definitely alive. That said, once I adjusted my expectations (and accepted that my meditation session would have to wait), I had a great time. The restaurant is located inside Sky Deck, an indoor food hall with multiple vendors. Finding it felt a bit like a scavenger hunt since the signage wasn't very obvious, but after asking around, I eventually made my way there. I started with the garlic green beans after seeing another reviewer rave about them, and wow- they were not exaggerating. The dish arrived with a tiny umbrella perched on top, which was both adorable and unexpectedly glamorous for a plate of green beans. This appetizer was small but mighty. Every bite was packed with flavor, and if I hadn't already ordered an entrée, I absolutely would have ordered a second round. For my main course, I chose the Pad See Ew with fried tofu at medium spice. Apparently, their definition of "medium" and my definition of "medium" are not close relatives. This dish came with a kick! Halfway through, I found myself wishing I had ordered something sweet to balance things out. Instead, I bravely faced the spice armed only with hot water and a slice of lime. Um, it was a battle. While the portion size wasn't quite as large as what I've seen at similar restaurants, it ended up being exactly the right amount for me that evening. I left satisfied without feeling overly full. The service was wonderful as well. The waitresses were kind, and the hostess checked in during my meal, which made the experience feel welcoming and attentive. Although I didn't get the quiet, zen-like end to my work week that I had envisioned, I ended up enjoying something different: a fun solo date surrounded by great food, upbeat music, and the infectious energy of the crowd. Sometimes the universe gives you a peaceful retreat, and sometimes it gives you spicy noodles and a soundtrack. This time, I got the latter- and I'm not mad about it.

What we tried: Thai Iced Tea with coconut milk Fresh Spring Rolls with shrimp Tom Kha with shrimp Moo Yang Mixture Set Braised Beef Panang Curry Thai Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango Everything was truly topnotch. Every dish we got was so tasty and just made with love. One thing that was worth noting though, was how soft and tender the proteins were on the chef's signature dishes that we ordered. The braised beef just melts in your mouth! Their Thai Iced Tea was not too sweet and the mango sticky rice was utter perfection! The ambiance was amazing as their decor was not only simply exquisite, but so eye catching and interesting too, and the staff--they were so kind and attentive. You get the kind of service that will make you want to come back. They just make you feel so welcome here. Overall, we're absolutely delighted to have had dinner here and it certainly won't be the last time.

I had never heard of this spot until our Chinese friend invited us out for dinner on a Friday night…read more-- and I'm so glad we went! They're currently undergoing a major renovation, so the main restaurant area is closed, but they have a temporary dining area open next door. It's super basic in terms of ambiance, but don't let that fool you -- the food totally delivered. What We Ate (or...what I remember ) Our friend took charge of ordering (which I always love -- especially at places I'm unfamiliar with), and we shared several dishes, all served family-style. I forgot to take photos -- and now I can't remember all the names -- but here are a few standouts: * Fried rice -- simple but packed with flavor, not greasy at all * Bok choy stir-fried with mushrooms -- light, fresh, and perfectly cooked. * Walnut shrimp -- sweet, crispy, and creamy, with that classic honey glaze * Spicy fish hot pot -- this was the star! A bubbling bowl of tender white fish in a spicy broth filled with chilies, aromatics, and flavor. Definitely one for spice lovers! If you're a fan of bold, spicy, and authentic flavors -- this place is worth the trip. I genuinely didn't know what to expect, but every dish we tried was flavorful, balanced, and comforting. The current setup is definitely not fancy -- it's more of a "hole-in-the-wall" experience while they renovate -- but if you care more about flavor than decor, you'll be happy here. It's a bit of a drive from where we live, but I'd 100% come back again -- especially to bring my mom, who also loves spicy Chinese food!
