I get that it's trash fast food, but I cannot resist fantasizing about a panda in the back cooking up my lunch and joking with his coworkers. Or a very rich Panda who is the head of Panda Express living the high life with private jets and exotic bamboo to munch slowly on. Maybe he has a rebellious panda cub, who always wears his headphones and says "whatever" a lot...the more I make up little panda bear stories in my head the more I find myself ending up there. Oh! Can you imagine a panda bear family taking a vacation to Hawaii and trying to learn to hula?!! That'd be cute with those bellies they have! I digress... Varying experiences at this location... I would try out another but it was one of the few locations that have the coveted and rare eggplant tofu. Sometimes they get my order right and sometimes they don't. The food also sometimes tastes a little different from one experience to the next. I actually like the walnut shrimp. It took forever for me to try it.. I was sure it would be crappy but when it's fresh it comes out crisp and the candied walnut it the goodness! Just crunch, crunch, crunch! The eggplant tofu is sometimes ok and sometimes pretty good. I like that the tofu and eggplant have a lot of sauce and also a bit of bell pepper. It's a very small amount but still good. If you are into trash fast food but you want to fantasize about Pandas without feeling like a creep than grabbing a quick lunch here is a no brainer. Found something suspicious in my cookie I went to Panda Express Solona Beach on 3/26/26 for some plain rice. The rice itself was fine, but the fortune cookie that came with it was sealed in its own plastic bag. When I opened it, it was filled with a dark, muddy-looking questionable substance that looked like mold or possibly rodent droppings. I didn't eat the cookie, but it was extremely alarming and completely unacceptable. I'm posting this to warn others and hope the restaurant takes food safety seriously. read more

I recently visited Panda Express and had a disappointing experience with one of the attendants (she was working the front counter during my visit). Even though I was clear with my order, I was repeatedly asked the same questions multiple times, which made the interaction unnecessarily confusing. In addition, the staff member's facial expressions and tone came across as dismissive, and at times it felt like we were being looked down on. Towards the end, I initially asked for two medium-sized drinks but then changed my mind and politely requested small ones instead. I was told that since I had already touched the cups, they couldn't be taken back, which was confusing. After insisting, she did take them back, but her response felt rude, and she discarded the cups in a very abrupt and unprofessional manner while looking at us. For reference, this was the attendant working the front counter at the time of my visit. I hope management can identify the situation based on the shift and timing, evening , April 9 I'm sharing this feedback respectfully, but customer service should make guests feel comfortable and respected. A more patient and professional approach would make a big difference in the overall experience. read more

Gentlemen working cash register was so rude. Forgot to give me my receipt before so I got a free meal. Today wouldn't make eye contact with me. I asked for salt he said they didn't have any. Then I asked to speak to a manager he said she wasn't there. When I asked him what his name was he said I don't know and I said okay I'd like my money back and put down my food. Staff is super friendly, food is as good as any other Panda Express, and the location is well kept.

This is pretty darn healthy for fast food. Clean and fairly quick. If they don't have the dish you want ready they will cook it up for you fresh. Works for me. read more

Very good location and nice staff. Super clean and organized, unlike some Locations I've been to, which are not all that clean. I went in when it was really slow and no one was there, and I saw that one of my selections didn't look the freshest, so I asked if there was any way I could bother them to make a fresh one, and they agreed, with no eye rolling or negative remark. I didn't know it, but apparently, I was dealing with the manager herself. Another time I went in, they were out of something I wanted and had to make a new batch, so they gave me a free medium drink cup to fill up, which made me feel really good about getting my food there. Date of visit: February 6, 2019 After the UYE I went to at Wax and Whimsy, I realized I needed to get some dinner for my folks... and as since I had parked across from Panda Express, made the decision to get some quick and easy Americanized Chinese food. If you've been to a Panda Express, you pretty know what to expect... but this particular location has something that most of the other Panda Express ones don't: the EGGPLANT TOFU! I was bummed that this had been taken off the majority of the restaurants in the chain, but we found out that only four in San Diego County still carry it (this one, the one in Clairemont Mesa, and two others in the South Bay). Also, the mixed veggies have now been replaced with a combination of stir-fried broccoli, kale, and bok choy... and it tastes much better! And... even though I missed out on the Lunar New Year promotion the day prior, they still had the red gift envelopes which I was lucky to get with my purchase. I did not need a bag but was given one. The bowl ended up being 75% noodles and the rest rice and kung pow chicken. Overall was not worth $8.51. The rice tasted stale as well (perhaps undercooked?). On top of this it's a bit noisy inside and I didn't receive a fortune cookie. I asked for a soy sauce and was given 6 packets when all I ordered was a single bowl.
