I thought about doing a review of the Panda Express here in Lebec which I think is one of the well-sought resting areas on the 5 North freeway heading towards Northern California. I have been at this Panda Express many times and it has been long overdue, which I think deserves a review. I always order fried rice and mushroom chicken and each time I find it delicious. For a Panda Express..the food here is pretty solid. Tried there new item the Cantonese BBQ Charsiu Beef Brisket... Not bad...a strong contender against Texas BBQ Brisket. Pepper Steak was surprisingly medium rare, very velvety, with a good amount of char. And for the first time, this place serves Szechuan Eggplant with tofu! Gabriel the manager makes you feel like you are at a fine dining establishment, pays attention to you individually, takes the extra step to make sure truck drivers take advantage of their free a lacarte entrees. I hadn't had breakfast and we stopped to have lunch here after descending the Grapevine. It was not the restaurant's fault that they got slammed with 10 tour buses. The line wrapped around the perimeter of the restaurant and the line to pick up online orders also stretched the width of the restaurant. The manager jumped in to handle the orders in the restaurant while other team members handled the drive thru and mobile orders. It was pretty quick once you got to the counter. Niece who ordered through the app got her food quicker. She knew how to claim her rewards. I had the plate with 1/2 steamed rice and 1/2 chow mein. The chow mein tray was refilled while we were in line. For my 2 entrees, I chose the mushroom chicken and eggplant tofu. The manager confirmed with me that I wanted to wait for the eggplant tofu. I did. He told the chef to make a fresh batch. By the time I got to the cashier, it was only a little bit of a wait. The chef had already made the fresh batch and all the lady had to do was put it in the serving tray and complete my order. It was plenty of food and satisfying. You had your carbs, protein, and vegetables. What more can you ask for in a meal? read more

Stopped by here for dinner on our drive down I5 South. The location was very convenient, near the Tejon Ranch Tesla Superchargers. Restrooms were very clean and there're quite a number of tables inside. We ordered ahead via the app, and the food was ready on time. We're lucky we arrived early, as a big crowd came in around 6pm and there was a long time. I had never considered Panda Express food authentic Chinese food, but it was ok. My husband was a big fan, especially for their orange chicken, though. I liked that I could get half greens for my bowl. Price was reasonable, too. Stopping for gas and provisions before heading over the grapevine and through LA traffic, I was hungry but really didn't feel like tacos (don't hate--any day ending in Y is good for tacos. I just wasn't feeling it on this trip), burgers or anything like that. I wanted flavor and some fresh veggies. And I didn't want to get out of my car again...so I chose Panda Express's drive through. The line was busy but moved along fast. I placed my order with some side cream cheese rangoons that I could eat on the drive. I'm not coordinated enough to eat the meal while driving. An hour later, when I arrived at my destination...just in time for dinner, I was so grateful I had stopped and picked up Panda Express. My supergreens and chow mein sides were plentiful and perfectly seasoned. And they did taste great even though they were cold. The orange chicken and kung pao chicken were also perfectly made and also plentiful. I appreciated fast and convenient food that was affordable, flavorful mostly nutritious, and that my order was completed correctly. My friend and I came here to eat lunch as we were on the road on our way to LA. It was quite crowded here, waited about 10-12 minutes before we were helped. Made sure to have this out pitstop because we like their food. Apparently we got upset. The lady is doing it so fast, she is doing one of our order and asking the next order after the next order. Ending up that our orders are mixed up for a party of seven. If not for my husband I would give our orders back to the lady and let it redo everything. Usually we don't go for Panda at home but getting tired of burgers on a driving trip. This Panda is busy so food is freshly cooked. Plenty of choices, including having half fried rice and half noodles. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating, nice for us traveling with our puppy. Service is fairly fast and efficient, we didn't have to wait too long considering the long line on a busy Sunday early afternoon. Plates are only $1 more than blows but with a lot more food, definitely get it instead of bowls. Best part of the meal is the free fortune cookies! :) read more

A Socal roadtrip tradition; Panda Express just before climbing up the Grapevine. It just happens that we are in the area at or around the lunch hour and the kids always expects this Chinese food before Southern California. Alas, in our most recent visit, I felt that this branch is a step or two behind the Panda Express I frequent in my area. Chow Mein is tasted flat and the Orange Chicken felt old (soft). Fairly solid Panda Express! We got decent portions from Lester and his warm energy was appreciated after driving for so long. Overall, the service was great. The new wok-fired shrimp was perfect--tender and flavorful and the black-pepper steak was also juicy and the veggies come with this sauce is bangin.' As a loyal Panda Express customer, I know what to expect when it comes to quality and serving sizes. But this location? Total disgrace. I've never seen portions this small in all my years of dining at Panda. They're practically serving sample sizes and having the nerve to charge full price. WHO IS THE MANAGER AT THIS PANDA? OMG THIS IS THE BEST PANDA I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. It's really crowded here and I'm sure full on travelers on long drives who are probably irritable but that does not stop this Panda from having excellent service. When you walk in, the staff greets you as they are working on replenishing my the next bowl of food. Nobody on shift has a second to break because they are working so fast and efficiently and friendly! Everyone looks genuinely happy to be there and really positive. I have to give kudos to the manger because it is really hard to develop this culture especially post pandemic. Even though everyone looks like they are working the whole time, everyone was friendly to each other and to customers. I saw someone checking on tables (I think the manager) and I think the manager was also cleaning the bathrooms which speaks volumes. The whole place is extremely clean which I know cannot be easy without the amount of foot traffic this place gets. I walked into this Panda Express expecting a quick bite, but ended up waiting a very long time without being helped at all. It was frustrating to watch the staff prioritize drive-through orders while completely ignoring the people standing and waiting inside. There was no acknowledgment, no "we'll be right with you," nothing. At one point, someone even cut in front of me and started ordering and he got his order quick! I didn't mind that--but I genuinely thought I would be next. Instead, I kept waiting... and waiting... until it became clear no one intended to help me. The service was not only slow but also rude. No one greeted me, no one smiled, and the energy felt like they just didn't care. I eventually left without ordering. All very nice and it seems less greasy than I remember so I was pleasantly surprised. The passion tea was sooooo good. Friendly service and attention to detail. Offering sauces and ensuring I had all that I needed. I donated to Panda Cares because of how clean and how well I was treated - at a chain fast casual restaurant!!! My wife loves panda and here we are coming back from SD. We were super tired and hungry after 5 hours of traffic. Pulled in to get some pans only to be disappointed with the quality of food when we opened our plates. Everything old and stale. The food was so hard and dried up. First of all: This is a Panda Express! I'm not reviewing some fancy Chinese restaurant - so this location gets 4 stars for what is: A drive thru fast food restaurant conveniently located right off the freeway in otherwise the middle of nowhere! Having little kids on a long trip a drive thru restaurant is essential and we can only eat so many burgers so this Panda Express was a welcome change. There is for sure a drive thru here (I had to do some research to verify) so if you're looking for a non-burger drive thru feel free to get off the freeway at the Laval Rd WEST exit (this Panda Express is on the same side of the 5 freeway at In&Out) and get easy drive thru meal. Like I mentioned, this restaurant is located immediately off the 5 freeway just north of the Grapevine so it's great for meal before or after because there's not much to eat until Bakersfield if you're heading north, or Santa Clarita if you're heading south. They have kids meals here and the wait didn't take too long. The lady in front of me took like 10 minutes to order and I thought omg my order is going to take ages but actually they had her pull off to the side and gave me my order first before her humungous 50 people order (btw why did she go in the drive through?!? who know!) Anyway, I was impressed that they didn't make me wait behind that slow lady! It was very easy to order and they have kids meals too. The Orange Chicken is our favorite and we also love the Broccoli Beef. You can get your meal with rice or the chow mien. The food tasted the same way all Panda Express restaurants taste like - I mean it's not gourmet Chinese food but it is tasty when you're in a hurry and want convenience! For all of those reviews saying that they have "skimpy portions" I have no idea what they are talking about because I couldn't even finish mine! I wouldn't want to eat more than 1 standard meal size styrofoam container overflowing with food anyway - that's way too big a portion! Plus the whole point of me going to this drive thru is I wanted a fast meal that my kids could eat in the car (I laid a few napkins on their lap and it wasn't too messy) and that I could scarf down while I got gas next door. Overall this location was just as good as any other Panda Express - just with the added benefit that it also has a drive thru! read more

We haven't been to Panda Express in years, but were driving back from LA and needed food. The drive-through beckoned! No line - and so quick! Meanwhile inside the restaurant, I could see the place was packed! So drive-through is the way to go if you need food fast. I ordered the one item - chicken with mushrooms and fried rice. So good! I forgot how good that was. My son got the orange chicken with chow mein. My husband ordered orange chicken and honey walnut shrimp with chow mein. My daughter got the chicken teriyaki with chow mein. And added some cream cheese wontons for kicks! The order was perfect - no mistakes. It's remarkable that, of all the eateries we could have chosen on our long drive back to OC from Sacramento, we picked here which coincidentally was the exact same spot we lunched en route north five years. It was well staffed on this busy Saturday evening and service was friendly and efficient. Our entree choices were Pandaly tasty, especially the orange chicken. The interior and restroom were clean.
