Stopped by on a weekend (no lunch deal) and got the General Tapio's chicken. Who is General Tapio? Is he Tso's cousin? Never heard of him. Perhaps he's General Tso's spicy cousin? Because according to the menu, General Tapio's Chicken is supposed to be spicy. The dish came with white rice, which I substituted for fried rice for additional $2. Not worth it. The fried rice was as bland as white rice and it was very meager; just a tiny bowl about the size of a teenage girl's fist. The chicken itself was ok. I like the crispiness of it. It came with a whole lot of sauce! The sauce was not spicy at all to me. I would compare it to the level of regular orange chicken with a dab of spice; nothing to break a sweat about. The service was curt, bordering on unfriendly, as if I'm bothering her when I asked for a refill of my water. Well, at least it wasn't horrible. The best thing about this place is the housemade chili oil. It's pretty tasty, not that spicy, but I appreciate that it's housemade. I wouldn't come back to this place for the price you pay to get merely okaaaaay food. You can pay with your card here!

    Chicken Egg Foo Yung

We have been enjoying takeout from Wok's Cooking for years as our favorite dish, Chicken Egg Foo Yung, has always been hard to find anywhere near SCV. Today was our 1st order since new owners took over, and unfortunately we were extremely disappointed. The sauce for the Egg Foo Yung was lacking the flavor it had before. Please bring back the sauce recipe that the previous owners used.

Cashew Chicken with more veggies than meat.

On the hunt for either Chinese or Thai food, we landed on this place. My husband placed on order by phone and we were quoted 20 minutes for the order. For around $50, here's what we got. * Chicken Fried Rice - This had a nice subtle flavor with bird of dark meat chicken. * Orange Chicken - I bit into a piece with a bone in it and I was almost thrown off. But it was crispy with a thick sweet sauce. Not my fave, but not bad. * Cashew Chicken - This was FILLED with veggies. There were a lot more vegetables than sauce. It had carrots, broccoli, pea pods, bamboo, onions and more. The flavor was also subtle but decent. My daughter ate a few pieces of the broccoli by choice. So that's a good sign. * Veggie Chow Mein - Since there were so many veggies in the Cashew Chicken I'm glad this wasn't overboard with the same vegetables. All in all it's not a place that I would rant and rave over. But it's solid and if we're craving Chinese food, it would do the trick. I'm sure we'll try it out again.

Egg Foo Young, Combination Pan Fried Noodles In Sizzling Plate

You know how you order the food based on the picture; then when it comes to your table it looks nothing like the picture? Our order actually looked like the picture! We ordered the sizzling platter, egg foo young, tea and a coke. While waiting I couldn't help but notice the pretty light fixtures, oriental wall decors, and fancy wood chairs. The sizzling platter had chicken, beef, shrimp, and veggies on a bed of crunchy noodles with a side of rice. I liked it! It was light tasting, well cooked vegetables, good amount of meats, it was missing the sizzling iron plate. The egg foo young looked like it was cooked in high temperature oil, it was ok. Food was served on ceramic plates, we had silverware, even a ceramic tea pot, but the coke was in a plastic cup. I just thought that was funny. The area did have a lot of big rigs around, since it is off interstate 5. Restrooms were clean, no paper towels though, just those super strong blowers.

It's so wild to me that Castaic restaurants that are locally owned are far more better than all the places in scv. Woks is pretty authentic Chinese food. Big portions, the food is spiced and cooked correctly. I was so iffy for a while to try this spot but for some reason my tummy said just do it. I wish I could've expedited the buffet when they had it. But that's okay they offer meal combos. Items from the fish soup to the tofu and the salt and peeper pork chop are so good. The veggies are cooked so perfectly. Even the egg fried rice! I've yet to try the noodle dishes but eventually I will. Everything taste and looks fresh! Service is pretty great, I call ahead and takes about 25-30 minutes. They do get pretty busy, so call ahead and be nice. Dining style is normal Chinese restaurant. Which I like, it's comfortable. If you're craving good Chinese I recommend to come here! My pictures are not great, will post more as I continue to go. Could be too authentic for some people but sucks to suck! Orange Chicken, fried rice, eggrolls and Chinese beer.
    Gabe H.

OK..... I just left. So let's do this while it's fresh on my mind..... I ordered orange chicken and rather the steam rice, I ordered the fried rice. So let's start. Lol. The orange chicken was good. It was a battered fried chicken. Not bad. The sauce was good and on the thicker side. But only trace amounts of green onions, Nothing else. So for the orange chicken I would say it's good. Not great. The fried rice was meh..... plain. Nothing to it. The eggrolls said chicken and cabbage. More cabbage than chicken. And oval shaped and the wrapper was the thinner flaky wrapper. Not the traditional eggroll wrapper. So again meh.... The dipping sauce was OK. The beer was cold and delicious. The staff was great and the place was clean. Will I be back? Yes. Was I impressed? No. Oh and I asked the guy if they could make it a little more spicy, and they did. This Chinese isn't like what Connie made. Old school Wha-Q Turlock CA. But if you have a hankering for Chinese food and your in the area, swing by.

Unassuming little spot with excellent food! We had potstickers, sesame chicken, and General Tapio's chicken. The General Tapio's was the favorite, although everything was delicious. The service was friendly and very attentive.

We also brought our baby daughter with us. It didn't take long for us to get seated near the sushi chef area. Our waitress was Natalie and she came to get our drinks and appetizers orders first. We just got soda and my wife wanted her spicy garlic edamame. She brought our drink and edamame quick. My wife ordered the Salmon and made it into a dinner meal so it would come with miso soup, salad and brown rice. I got the Mongolian beef and asked for Jasmine rice. Our food took some time to come out, the miso soup and salad came out quick. My wife like the soup but not the salad, I tried it too and they just drenched it with dressing so not good. This was when Natalie went to refill my wife drink and when she came back, it didn't taste like a coke. I tooked multiple attempts to flag her down and she didn't believe me at first that the coke tasted weird. So she didn't even take it and said she'll bring a new one and I also asked for a refill on mine. She came back and said the people in the back is replacing the coke tank since it's emptied. My Mongolian beef was delicious and they were generous with the portion. I loved my dish, my wife salmon also came out but she didn't really like. Natalie came back with just one coke but forgot my refill. The coke she brought was flat so not good. We decided to not even bother anymore. She disappeared again until I flagged her down with another waiter help to asked for the check and boxes. The customer service here was bad and where they sat us, was smokey from the sushi chef area.

I imagine all restaurant owners have one of those two options in mind at the start. So, when I saw that there are two Siam Rice restaurants in Santa Clarita, I thought these must be people who want to grow and expand. Now, since Siam II is closer to my house, I chose to try it first, of the two. I looked at the pictures, the menu, and the reviews here and thought it was a good choice for a standard Chinese meal, with a bit of a twist that they also apparently serve Thai dishes. We ordered just the Chinese dishes without meat. Siam Rice permits substituting tofu for any meat element in all of its dishes. They also let you choose mild, spicy, medium spicy, and hot spicy. Great idea. I was able to tell them to leave out any MSG from our meal, as I am allergic to it. They readily agreed. So far, so good. The service is quick and pleasant. Both people who attended our table were accomodating, if a bit subdued. We ordered quite an array of choices and the food came out quickly, piping hot, and well arranged so as to look appetizing. All of it was good, Cantonese style Chinese (we didn't choose a Thai option, apart from Thai Tea). It was tasty, especially the string beans with garlic and the vegetable Spring rolls. These dishes were also almost identical. We asked for a fried rice, a noodle, and a tofu with vegetable main dish. It appears that all the vegetables and seasonings for those three are the same and so, while satisfying and filling, they could not be distinguished from each other, apart from rice vs noodles. The Thai tea was strong and sweet, as is its nature. The place was clean, with clean floors, tables, and windows. All of this makes for a good, local place that I imagine draws a lunch crowd from Saugus and Railroad Avenue, and likely a local Friday and Saturday night clientele too. Since Railroad Avenue is not, say, Sunset, Wilshire or Santa Monica Boulevards, Siam II is unlikely to attract people much farther than eastern Santa Clarita and maybe don't have any ambition to do so. And that may be their intent, it is hard to know. If I were to make a recommendation to the owners: I think it is time to re-paint the entire restaurant. The ceiling tiles should be replaced. I would also add more Thai decor, as that is unusual and exotic and would make for a unique distinction that I am sure customers would find charming. I would also do something to the lower "vestibule" that serves as the entry (see my picture) to the upper dining floor. It looks like a place to stop in and get lottery tickets. It should be inviting, warm, attractive. New paint, more Thai and Chinese art, accessories, and artefacts, and perhaps some plants would go a long way to matching the ambiance to the food quality. There is convenient parking in front and back, and the prices are very reasonable.

Our always fabulous server Vickie suggested a dish for me to try after I asked her for a recommendation for a good, flavorful and traditional Thai dish. Not what is common for the local clientele, but something her family and friends would love to eat. She immediately suggested the simply named "Basil Pork" from their menu. She told me that this dish which is called Pad Kra Pao (spelled so many ways depending on the restaurant) is frequently eaten for breakfast or lunch by Thai people. A savory, home cooked meal. Oh wow.. the flavor profile blew my mind! A unique flavor that is new to me, there are layers of flavor in this dish. She brought a side of an essential Thai condiment called Prik Nam Pla which is drinkable. It's that good! Vickie told us you're supposed to chop up the egg and mix the pork and rice together with the Prik Nam Pla poured over, to taste. I will be getting this on repeat! It's a must try. We also ordered our usual House Special Crispy Squid which never disappoints. They do their calamari right and it's never tough. Also on the table was an order of Pad See You with beef. So good, and in the spirit of teaching us the traditional ways to eat dishes, Vickie brought out a container of Prik Dong to pair with the noodle dish. It's a vinegar infused with chilis and has a slightly spicy and sour kick. It really enhances the already delicious dish! Everything was so good, and I simply can't say enough about the fantastic service we always receive at Siam Rice II. If you don't want to dine in you can order take out, but you'll be missing out on Ms Vickie's helpful tips and suggestions.
