We ordered takeout yesterday. Their online ordering food was good, no problem there. The online ordering system asked for a tip, which I did not include, since we were going to pick up the items in person. Then, my eyes moved on to a breakdown of the bill. It included sales tax, of course, AND a service fee of around 7% -- both reflected as a single amount of money on a single line, entitled "Taxes $ Fees"! Maybe the "fees" were for the food cartons and plastic bag? Upon further examination today, this is how they describe the so-called fees: "Support Local Fee" (a flat 99¢) "Surcharges" (a strange percentage) Question -- do customers dining in also see these charges when the bill arrives? It took a while to get through on the phone on Xmas Day, but we finally did and they were great about it. Rolled up to pick up our takeout for dinner, and as you can imagine, the place was jammed! Give them a lot of credit for navigating the big crowd and pushing out all the takeout orders calmly. Our Fried Rice, Chow Fun and Moo Shu Chicken dishes were super tasty and in nice portions once we got home and dug in. Appealing enough and cozy inside, with a compact parking lot outside. Wow. Truly impressive how bad this was. The food ranged from aggressively bland to mysteriously wrong. If it had flavor, it was the kind that makes you pause and ask yourself uncomfortable questions. Service was just as inspired. I asked for water three times before it finally appeared--apparently water is a special-order item. Tea and lemonade showed up just fine, though. Priorities. Before anyone says, "They were busy!"--nope. The place was empty. Which, after eating there, makes perfect sense. We've been coming here for years and have never been disappointed until our last visit this week. The chicken broccoli appeared to have a different sauce and the portion it was definitely smaller. Grand Panda has a lot going for it in terms of service and ambiance, but unfortunately for us, the food was not as good as we wanted it to be, especially relative to other nearby Chinese food spots. We live nearby and were excited to try a non-strip mall Chinese food restaurant. The stand-alone building and up-scale-ish decor on the inside were nice. We loved the little details like pandas etched into the clear dividers between tables. It felt like a nice place to be inside and the staff and our server were friendly. The portions were also quite generous. You're not going to go hungry here. The food however was relatively bland compared to similar dishes we've ordered at other local restaurants. We had a lot leftover to take home and no one was particularly excited about eating the leftovers. (which is unusual in this house for Chinese food!) We're glad they had tofu as an option, but would have also, as vegetarians, enjoyed a faux-meat option to up the offerings for our diets. It's a nice place with nice people...but compared to other places within blocks on the same street, it would be our top to choice to return for Chinese food. read more

This has been a gem of Santa Clarita valley and a family favorite for over 35 years. I grew up with my parents always over ordering here and having to go pickup boxes of food that we would feast on for days- the leftovers I think are better than the day 1! The workers here are so friendly, accommodating and lovely. Beautiful, clean, sit down restaurant great lunch specials, or order family style! We always order the wonton soup, egg flower drop soup, pork or veggie fried rice, noodles, we've ordered all of the beef and chicken dishes on the menu. My family loves the walnut shrimp, sweet and sour chicken, beef and broccoli, beef and snow peas, beef and peppers, spicy chicken, chicken and eggplant, the bao bao plate etc. there isn't a bad dish! We love the large portions, and how fresh the food is. Yes it is pricey. It's well worth it for the quality to support a local family run restaurant that consistently serves delicious food and they do not cut corners. I'd rather pay for the same portion and quality!! Grand Panda is always solid. My family eats her frequently because the food is great, the staff are amazing, and my 8 and 2 year old really like it and finding a place the both kids and parents enjoy is rare (side note: all Asian restaurants work with my kids so maybe they will work for yours). Things we consistently order are sizzling rice soup with chicken, beef chow fun, with the beef snow peas and mushrooms (one of our faves). I recently tried their garlic green beans and it's my new favorite- sweet with umami. I like the war wonton soup though sometimes the broth is more watery. We tried the Peking duck which is good but we weren't really duck eaters. They also have had more dim sum options over the past couple of years and their Xiao long bao is better than One Dumplings (in my opinion. I think OD'd can be too sesame oil heavy). My daughter loves the fried shrimp that comes with the dinner sets. The ambience of the restaurant is nice too... not crazy loud, especially because the majority of the restaurant has booths. Oh and the cotton candy machine is a perfect motivator to get the kids to eat and behave. read more

This place is super nostalgic, I used to come here a lot as a kid so I am glad they are still in business! I came in again recently on a Friday afternoon for lunch. It was surprisingly quite packed despite it being technically a "weekday"! We were seated right away, as they have many booths located inside. The restaurant itself looks tiny from the outside but packs in a lot of people comfortably once you go inside. My dad and I were just about to order one noodle dish to share but our waitress advised for us to try to get two different dishes to try some more out, which we just got another type of noodle dish Both were delicious and the portions were definitely very generous! The price of it all was very reasonable too, both these noodle dishes came out to about $30 total for 2 a la carte dishes. We will definitely be back to try more of their other menu items! read more

I said it's the way you are acting right now it's your attitude. She repeated herself a couple of more times and walked away. I left and told the man at the register I will never be back and his response was ok. I have been coming to this restaurant for 20 years, what an experience. We went to Mandarin Wong down the street and the food is 100% better, service was great and the price saved us $10 for a better experience. The Panda has its own parking lot. We came here n a Friday night around 6 pm no problem getting a table. We order Hot Sour Soup for two Mushi Chicken and a chicken with eggplant. The hot sour needed both vinegar and spice in other words bland. The soup was hot. We ordered multiple soups at our table which all arrived at different times. The Mushi had a hard flavorless pancake and came pre rolled but we're not packed. The chicken with eggplant had a nice flavor to it. Service was good the wait staff is stretched thin.
