Refreshments are freshly made and tasty. Chips and salsa is spicy. First timers and we ordered Caldo de res and Menudo. Home made tortillas brought to the table. Check out my video. Its steamy hot. Its an air conditioned restaurant with a small private lot in the back with street parking available. Service was great and owner goes around checking with all the tables. Very personable.

Decided to try their menudo. It was really good! It had hominy which I like. The tortillas I am pretty sure are homemade. They have out door dining and the staff was very nice. I teally like the fact they have menudo everyday.

My grandma has loved coming here for years . I always bring her here so she can get her fix of posole/ menudo . I love everything here . My brother gets the Aguaschiles. My dad gets the caldo de res . Really the variety is endless !!

1st time trying this place the food was delicious but the lady who took the order sounded a bit rude and when I got there it was same lady who took the order and was rude to invoice me out. Besides the lady the food is great and the atmosphere was good. The place was full of people. Will definitely try again.

You might miss this place. From the outside it does not look very appealing. Located across the street from the train tracks. Very busy street and the parking is not the best. Seating inside is ample. It gives the Mexican restaurant vibe the minute you walk in. Their wall is lined with refrigerators full of beers and sodas. The day we visited it was full. They had the FIFA World Cup on their two screens. There were many people that are obviously regulars picking up orders. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was good. Well seasoned. Their salsas not too spicy but just the right kick in it. Definitely worth trying.

Finally found a great Mexican place to eat in Santa Clarita. Everything tasted fresh and delicious

Shrimp cocktail with freshly made tostadas up front, chicken enchilada plate off to the right

My buddy at the VA told me about this place nearly a year ago. Well it finally happened today. Nice ranchera music, friendly patrons. The menu was colorful. Several orders came out and they were eye-catching! My shrimp cocktail had ample delicious shrimp. Here's the deal, many places do not clean the shrimp. Neca does so a loud is appropriate!! Delicious, hearty and enough avocado, the salsa is really good so I spooned a few rounds into the the cocktail. Oh yeah,,, Paired with the micheladas and we made a fast getaway home to inspect the backs of our eyelids. Nelson, thanks for the warm welcome. We had a great time and next up will be pozole or langosta. See you soon. JJG

The food was tasty. We had all are food to go. My husband and I had the huarache, carnitas taco, pastor taco, chicken taco, pork tamale, rice and beans. The prices were very reasonable. The proprietor Nelson was very friendly, happy guy. The establishment was clean and very brightly lit. This is a nice local Mexican food restaurant. If you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine at a reasonable price, this the place to go.

One of my friends described Neca's as a slice of Mexico. The food is comforting - that taco or burrito you've been craving - it's exactly what you wanted. The dishes are authentic and the environment makes you feel like you're in a small town. The staff is kind and patient. They want to make sure you're happy. They're very hospitable. The takeout tastes as good as sitting in the restaurant. Kudos to the owner - food and service are fantastic!

You're drawn in by the familiar, comfortable design featuring mirrored signs with writing in Victorian style fonts that continue onto the menus. They have marble tables and counters, with comfortable chairs, and lots of light coming in through the windows. The staff is all smiles and very welcoming, happy to help you navigate the very interesting bill of fare, and making sure your cocktail is made exactly as you like. I was dining solo, so I sat at the bar, and James took excellent care of me from start to finish. I asked for a Bombay Sapphire Martini with Olives; James immediately offered regular or blue cheese-stuffed olives, and asked if I preferred the martini shaken or stirred. The drink that emerged was well-balanced, cold and very tasty. The menu is filled with all sorts of interesting choices. Some are familiar items like salads and fishes and hamburgers or cheesesteak sandwiches done in their way -- but my eye immediately went to a very unique starter: Duck Fat Potato Confit. Say what? As James explained, it is a whole potato that has been slow cooked in duck fat (confit, as we know) and served as the main attraction in the dish as one might similarly feature a duck leg or short rib. I had to order this, and it turned out to be one of the most rewarding dishes I've eaten in a long time. The aforementioned, slow-cooked potato initially appears a bit like a whole boiled potato, but looks are deceiving. Because of the cooking method, the potato holds it's consistency and shape much more than a boiled or baked potato, cutting almost like a protein. It's solid but tender, and as it has absorbed quite a bit of flavor during the cooking, this potato is far tastier on its own than those other iterations. But you are NOT eating this potato unadorned. Oh no, this potato is dressed with caramelized onions, smoky bacon lardons, wild mushrooms and a rich, very flavorful demi-glace. All together, you've layers upon layers of flavor that make you ignore all distractions and really concentrate on the pleasure you're getting from your food. But that's not all... Perhaps the cleverest element of a dish composed entirely of clever elements is the Mornay Sauce. Snow white, and with enough of just the right cheese to add texture to the Bechemel without becoming too powerful, the sauce is plated on the bottom, with the potato resting atop it. Visually, this looks like mashed potatoes served underneath a protein, and it plays the same role texturally -- but because you wouldn't serve potatoes with a potato, the sauce is a lighter accompaniment, whose flavor marries perfectly with the more complex sauce coming from above, and you cannot help but marvel at this stroke of culinary magic. Just wow. I finished with a dessert of Key Lime Budino, which was rich and creamy with a serious hit of sour from the Key Lime. A nice and refreshing shift after the savory richness of my entree. How lucky are the people of Newhall and Santa Clarita that they have a restaurant making such interesting and excellent food? I come up at least once a month for a music event, and how lucky am I to have discovered this place to eat beforehand? And by the way: if you live in the San Fernando Valley, this place is really less than 30 minutes away (without traffic), so the next time you're thinking of going over the hill to a place in Beverly Hills or Santa Monica, you may want to head North instead. I promise you, The Old Town Junction will become your new favorite.

My family does not eat meat so I do not understand how they could make such a mistake especially when I was the only customer there. What if someone was allergic to one of the additional items? I'm pretty sure the sausage and vegetables were added to the shrimp to equal a pound. I am totally disappointed with this mistake and I see the reason why the restaurant was empty on a Saturday afternoon. There was no way I could have gone back to return the item since I live quite far and I made the mistake of not checking before I left since the girl stapled the bag and sealed the container inside. The shrimp isn't cooked well either. Some of them were cooked for too long while others seemed almost raw. Bad quality.

Parking is easy since it's at a parking structure nearby and you cross the street to CNS. Once inside, you're greeted and can sit any spot you like (fave spot is the window side booth). Sometimes food takes a while to come out but that's fine because the shrimp is never overcooked/soggy here and the spice level is on point. There were so many that they actually got onto me and inside my clothing. I believe I was even bitten. I immediately jumped up and started trying to get the ants off me, and I actually had to take off my shirt because ants had gotten inside it. What happened next made the situation even more upsetting. As soon as the employee saw what was happening, she quickly came over and started cleaning the seat before I could properly take pictures showing how many ants were there. Even after she cleaned the area, there were still ants on the seat, and I was able to take pictures of them. I explained how serious and uncomfortable the situation was and specifically asked to speak with the manager. The manager did not even come out to speak with me. Instead, the employee told me that I could tell her what I wanted to say and she would tell the manager for me. I find that extremely unprofessional. If a customer is complaining that ants from your seating area got onto their body and inside their clothes, the very least a manager could do is come out and speak to the customer directly. Their solution was to tell me that they could give me food to go. However, I was there for the all-you-can-eat option, so telling me to take food to go was not an appropriate solution. After discovering ants crawling on me and inside my clothing, I obviously did not feel comfortable sitting back down and continuing to eat. I understand that problems can happen at any restaurant, but how you handle the problem matters. There was no manager willing to come speak with me, no reasonable resolution was offered, and I felt like the situation was being brushed aside instead of taken seriously. I have pictures showing ants that were still on the seating area even after the employee cleaned it. This was an extremely uncomfortable and unacceptable experience, and the lack of professionalism from management made it even worse. Based on my experience with both the cleanliness of the seating area and the way my complaint was handled, I would absolutely not recommend this location.
