Our favorite Mexican restaurant in Santa Clarita. There's a very homey atmosphere here--both in the dining area and in the food. It feels like you're visiting your grandma and she's making homemade tacos for you (the best I've had anywhere). The staff are amazing--you could say we're practically family already There's no luxury or glam here, but everything is so warm and cozy that we come here very often with colleagues. Highly recommend read more

It's time for Taco Tuesday! Every week, my wife and I decided to try a different place for Taco Tuesday. Last night I decided to try El Pato Mexican on Lyons Avenue in Newhall based off searching for Taco Tuesday. Even though my search showed that El Pato had Taco Tuesday, they did not. I almost left. However, I was committed and in search for the best Tuesday Tacos. Therefore, I ordered 6 Carne Asada street style tacos. The young lady at the register told me they put a few pinto beans on the taco, is that okay? I found out in Central Mexico (Mexico City) and parts of the north, I.e., Sonora & Chihuahua Mexico, this is part of the culture. The southern regions they tend to use black beans. Anyway, the young lady told me that they use the full size corn tortillas when in fact, they use the street style corn tortillas. Two out of my 4 tacos were loaded and the other two were very small and fatty. The first two were really tasty though. At $3.89 a piece plus tax = $4.27, it is way over priced for the value for a street taco. They even charge $11 for a basic Bean N Cheese Burrito. This is my ranking: Taste - *** Price/value - ** Service - ***** Cleanliness - **** Atmosphere - **** Respectfully, Taco man Wedo! read more

Extremely disappointed and honestly frustrated with this experience. How are you going to charge $35+ for a trio plate and this is what you get? For that price, I expected much better portions, quality, and service. To make it worse, they only give you THREE tortillas with a $35+ plate. Seriously? The service was also terrible. Our food was brought out one plate at a time, so while one person was eating, everyone else was sitting there waiting for their food. And to top everything off, they messed up my order THREE different times. I had to keep sending it back because they couldn't get the order right. When you're charging these kinds of prices, customers should not have to deal with tiny portions, barely any tortillas, everyone's food coming out separately, AND an order being made incorrectly three times. $35+ for one plate is already expensive, so at the very least the food and service should justify the price. Definitely not worth the money. I left feeling like I completely overpaid for the experience I received. Very disappointing. read more

El Pato - DO NOT EAT HERE! - Mexican Near Me - Newhall, California

I had a really good experience at El Pato. I ordered takeout instead of dining in and everything was ready on time. The staff got my order correct which I really appreciated. The inside did however look nice & was very busy you can tell they get good business here. The crunchy taco stood out the most for me. It had amazing flavor and the shell had the perfect crunch. I also like how much cheese they put along with the added in sides of lime & radish. I also tried the homemade taco and thought it was just as good. The presentation was solid and I felt like I got my money's worth. I also ordered the asada burrito which was very large in size but unfortunately it was too greasy for my taste. Because of that I would not order it again but I can see how others might enjoy it if they do not mind a heavier style burrito. Overall I would definitely return for the tacos since they were the highlight of my meal. read more

Wow, wow , wow! First of all the food is absolutely out of this world! If you are around Newhall and have a craving for Mexican food you have to go to this spot! (and that's saying a lot because there are many many options nearby!) The ambience is great and definitely recognizable. From the moment you step in the doors, it feels like you have teleported somewhere else and immediately are greeted by the super friendly family that owns an operates this place. They are so kind and warm and welcoming, and really make you feel like you are part of the family as well. Please give this place a shot and come and visit them! read more

My husband and I went here with a large group. It was our first time trying it, and we were looking forward as it seemed like a good place to get authentic Mexican food. They give you tostadas topped with well seasoned refried beans and cotija as an appetizer. They also have salsa in these little bottles. Both bottles have kick and if you're not a spice person, you may find it a little too spicy. It was fine for me and delicious. Heads up, their meals with the green salsa is different than the one on the table. Someone else got it and she could barely eat your food. So if you don't like spice and green salsa comes on your food you may want to ask for it on the side. My husband got the pineapple margarita and it was good and strong. (Well strong for us light weights so I don't know if that is saying much.) We got the chicken fajitas. They come with salad with very fresh veggies. The rice was soft and seasoned well. The beans were the same as on the tostada. My least favorite part was the chicken actually. But it wasn't bad at all. Like I said we were a big party, so there were a few mistakes on the orders. Also I asked for silverware but was not given any so my husband and I had to share. One thing I really liked was they put cucumber and/or lemon in your water without even asking. I definitely want to go back and try other things. The parking lot is small so it could get full at busy times. Oh and it's great for groups because they will make separate checks, then you go to the front to pay. read more

1/5 Absolutely terrible experience. I waited 35 minutes for my food and still received nothing. There was no reasonable explanation for the delay, and after waiting that long, I finally had enough and canceled my order. Making a customer wait 35 minutes without receiving their food is completely unacceptable. I came here expecting a meal, not to waste my time waiting for an order that never arrived. Extremely disappointing service, and I definitely won't be coming back. read more

Can't go wrong with the Asada Nachos and an Horchata! Based on the picky clientele, the rest of the menu must also be good. Be sure to ask about any up-charges for hand made tortillas for example, as they may fail to mention the extra cost when they make suggestions. read more

Terrible service! I honestly was super disappointed. I usually order the caldo de pollo (chicken soup) with DoorDash. But today I decided to give the actual place a try and what a huge DISAPPOINTMENT! It took them 40mins for me to get my soup. Keep in mind the place was empty. I was the only customer in there, later on a couple got there and they got their food way before I did. Not sure because they are regulars. They got way better service than I did. But honestly I will never go back or order from here again. They had plenty of employees. Emilia really needs to fix her customer service attitude and treat all customers the same. Not just your regulars should be getting good customer service. It's your new customers you should treat great. read more

I really love this place, and more importantly you should too. Food, decor, value, consistency, and availability, but really...... FLAVOR and AUTHENTICITY. I went in here last night, and had their tripes wet burrito, and it was truly an adventure for my palette to the point that I had to write this a day later. The savory, and wonderfully seasoned umami flavor, the fresh bright AND EXCITING FEELING from that salsa, WITH the time and love you taste in every bite fresh ingredients, sauces, and vegetables. This ended up being an $18 burrito, but truly a "present for a rough week" type of meal, and worth every bite. Words of advice- Had a rough week??? Answer:Wet tripes burrito = 100% problems solved and ready to fight another day. read more

My sister and her husband came to this place to pick up food once before. I always seen this place whenever I drive to my local church in a small suburban town. I haven't been there until today. After 30 years of driving by this place, I finally came to try it out. It is Mexican cuisine, not my favorite, but my mood today said okay, I'll give it a shot. Inside, a beautiful interior with tvs, Mexican music, painted walls and a clean overall interior. Service was excellent. It was a kind and short man that was serving us. I ordered the carne asada burrito l, chicken taco and a wet burrito. Of the three, the wet burrito was huge, however; it was drenched with green salsa or a green sauce which made it difficult to eat with a knife and fork. The burrito cannot be eaten with your hands unless you want to have that slimy touch feeling to it. Overall, it was pretty tasty with the two sauces provided. One of which was incredibly salty and spicy. It was the red or should I say rojo sauce. The green avocado salsa was also added for extra cooling and flavor. The regular burrito was about $11 and for the size of it, it was well worth it. I enjoyed that the most and was the best value. The wet burrito was about $14 with steak. The taco, tasted the best and was $3. It was a basic chicken taco, but the shell was soft and had a warm and cozy bite to it. Probably should have ordered 3-4 of these with chicken as that protein was also added better texture. The steak had a slight tough bite to it and some fat was attached to a few pieces, overall it was big but I had better tasting Mexican burritos before. Especially birria ones. The ambiance was the highlight and service. The food was above average and although it wasn't the best tasting Mexican food I ever had, the burrito was pretty dang big. It filled me up at least and the two salsas provided added that punch of flavor the burrito needed to put it above average. I liked the value you get with it. Other items were a little bit higher than I would like so I didn't want to order it such as the fajitas and the shrimp or seafood proteins to add on. read more

Great breakfast burritos!! Called in an order and was greeted with friendly service. Ordered breakfast burritos - both chicken, no beans & added potatoes. Picked it up and the burritos are huge! I loved it here...Quaint place with an easy, laid back diner vibe. This place is busy, and after I enjoyed the food here, I can see why. I did not know what to order, so I asked the server what she recommends, and she suggested the Breakfast Chilaquiles. GREAT choice! Other than the prompt service and easy vibe, I enjoyed this Superb breakfast dish that did more than just "hit the spot." It was SO good! I'll definitely come back! read more

El Pato is across the way from our family chiropractor... We stopped for a bite after our adjustment on an empty stomach mind you... So when I say that I ordered chilaquiles (not pictured), I devoured my plate because I felt that they were the best plate of chilaquiles i have everrrr had Pictured, is a gordita plate de asada with tortillas a mano. I've driven by El Pato countless times on Lyons Ave and finally decided to stop in today--and I'm really glad I did. We walked in, my work-wife and me...she in her Raiders ballcap and me in my Doc Martins. We were seated at the only empty table left here at 12 Noon. The soccer game was on the big screens. The tequilas were flowing. Ice cold beers being clinked. It was as festive as it gets. Part of the vibe here, a huge part, is how friendly and nice the staff is. Smiling, laughing with the patrons. Service with a smile personified. Even if the food was horrible here, I'd still come, just to get some of that love. But, alas, the food is not horrible...far from it in fact. It's OUTRAGEOUSLY GOOD! You need to try this place. We ordered SHRIMP BURRITOS and were in heaven. This place prides itself on the fresh. And they bring it. read more

I have given this place so many opportunities because the food is good and one of the gentleman that works there is nice , I say to myself well it might of been the bfast rush , the lunch rush the dinner rush and the are overwhelmed right , it happens BUT nah these leaders are effin rude and they go out of there way to make you feel unwelcome 3-4 yrs I've been coming here but definitely this Saturday was the last time they will ever receive my money , obviously I don't expect to eat for free but here I go ask you for a second cup of water and you get bothered and look at my table to make sure we have finished the rest of the waters in our table that's petty Daniela !!! Petty I even offered for you to put it on my tab because I saw how upset you got for me asking you for a cup of water ! Insane like I said many many times my family and I have overlooked your rudeness clearly you don't like our presence at your establishment and we will respect that, never to go again. The reviews on here say how amazing service they get from you I highly doubt it , because I've seen you with other customers and your just rude, if you don't like your job find another one there's many of places hiring. I know it's just one review over all the good ones but at least I know I'm not lying and yes I only put one example but clearly there's so many others. On another hand LAS ORIGINALES MEXICAN BAR & GRILL DOWN THE STREET WILL FOREVER BE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED a must try guys ... read more

This is still my favorite taco place in SCV but they have definitely gone down a bit in quality over the years.
