I ordered online and arrived 10 minutes early to the scheduled pick up time. Upon ordering there were instructions that were adamant about not coming before your designated pick up time. Fair enough, I didn't expect my order to be ready but was pleasantly suprised that it was only to find out that it was not hot, or warm but actually cold. Dissapointing but I could reheat everything when I got home. The honey walnut shrimp was excellent, the sweet fire chicken breast was tasty yet had zero heat (spice)as advertised and the black pepper sirloin steak not only lacked heat as well but was full of chewy gristle and smelled like tire rubber. I ordered last Wednesday night and ordered the bigger plate with walnut shrimp and orange chicken entrees. Honestly I wouldn't normally write a review about a franchise but here I am. First off I'd like to say we eat at this panda at LEAST once a month... my husband and kids all love this place. The orange chicken is consistently. They've messed up our drive through order a few times but honestly we usually have to get a family meal or 3 bigger plates to feed everyone and it's fine that they've missed orders before. But the reason i decided to write the review is because of the manager, Owen I think his name is. I noticed Owen being super kind and patient training staff. Being a manager myself it looks like Owen takes his job seriously and cares and is kind. He speaks kindly to his staff is very kind to his customers and asked about donating to Doernbecher. I appreciate being asked this because of all the amazing things Doernbecher is trying to accomplish and I know they are grateful for the donations from Panda Express. I appreciate how thorough Owen is and how good he is overall. He and his staff keep a really clean store and the bathrooms are well stocked and clean. Went to Panda E at about 7:30pm the drive thru had 7-10 cars and inside there was one couple ahead of us. We were in the store for about 10-15 minutes before we got our food. The food is lower than mid the fried rice is dry but mushy so is the chicken. One lady kept dropping pieces of orange chicken on the counter and would just flip it back into the tray. I've been coming to this Panda location regularly for about 1.5 years now. The quality of the food has varied quite a bit, sometimes pretty good when it seemed like they have a new manager. However more recently it looks like they have a different managerial staff again. I typically come 2-3 times per month since my kids like to eat it'. The last 2 months or so this has become a terrible location to visit. Their portion sizes seem to get smaller and smaller. Sometimes the side item barely fits the container. The entrees look sparse. Today I had a new experience. I ordered a few bowls to go with chow mein. There was basically no chow mein left for the 2nd bowl and the employee kept scraping up the leftover small pieces of cabbage and chow mein over and over again into my bowl to fill it up. Basically I could have used a spoon to eat the side item of chopped up chow mein into pieces and cabbage. My kids didn't want to eat so ended up throwing it away. Shortly after I ordered it a fresh batch of chow mein came out with the next customer. I'm too nice to have brought it to the employees attention. But jeez this location has gone to complete crap. I came here after another place botched my lunch order, hangry and irritated. Walking in, Brandon, the manager, greeted me with a friendly hello and a smile that I could tell he was giving me, even through his mask. He was very pleasant, helpful, and prompt. My terrible mood literally melted away. The other place I tried to order from was at least 2 times more expensive than what I paid here, but the consistency of the food, the fact that part of it was freshly prepared as I endured a 5 minute wait (which was accurately quoted to me and I was warned about beforehand), and the awesome service that Brandon and Jasmin provided made the 15 minute trek out of my way worth it. They were also super pleasant to everyone who walked in after me as they took each and every person's order promptly and with a smile. I know it's fast food, but they did a great job and my food tasted hot when I got home and tasted exactly the way I expected. The staff were super... friendly, efficient, and seemed like veteran Panda Express staff. Everyone seemed to be enjoying what they were doing and the food was some of the best I've ever had in the category of 'fast food'. A welcome addition to our little corner of world that features Bridgeport Village across the freeway and this little strip mall which features a Fuddruckers, Baja Fresh, a deli and a teriyaki place. Across the street is the holy trinity of fast food, Taco Bell, Carls Jr and Burger King and in the adjacent strip mall is an Arby's, Wu's Open Kitchen, Safeway and a Subway. Lunch time here at the Boones Ferry off ramp off I-5 is never short on choices. This time I wanted to try the new kids on the block. Getting there was pretty easy, it can be congested in this area around feeding time so be patient with the signal lights. I walked in and was a little thrown off because there are no trays out in the open to grab like in older Panda's. Since there was no tray runner along the counter I figured the moved everything behind the glass. As I perused the choices I was happy to see no wilted looking food that you see at some Panda's, you know what I am talking about, green beans that look like wilted lettuce strips, broccoli that has that light color to it... anyway, none of that. I ordered the chow mien noodles, sweet fire chicken and the green bean chicken, Even after lunch hour, I was there about 1:30pm, everything was hot and freshly made. Impressive if you know what I mean. The employees were friendly enough, gave me extra soy sauce without that look you get sometimes when you ask for something extra. Had a bad experience at this location. Most of the food looked old, like it had been sitting on the heaters for too long. We picked the freshest-looking ones for our meal. But what we ordered was bland and seriously lacking in flavor. It's almost like they skipped the normal sauces that are used or just used a fraction of the amount. We got chow mein, sweet fire chicken, and string bean chicken. I know what the flavor for all of these are supposed to taste like because I've ordered them many times before. The chow mein was dry, probably from sitting too long on the heater. The SB chicken & SF chicken had little sauce/flavor. Not only was the food bad but also they made us wait a few minutes for someone to let us pay for our food- we couldn't get our food until we paid. Apparently, the cashier person was in the back. Panda-monium! I have a soft spot for panda. We used to get the delivery from Panda Inn when we lived in LA growing up. It's amazing to see how it's grown since! We usually get the panda family fest which gets you 2 large starches & 3 large meats for $30. That can't be beat! We switch it up, but our favorites are orange chicken (a classic!), honey walnut prawns, and string bean chicken. A couple orders of potstickers are usually in the mix too. Ask for the hot mustard and chili sauces. Yum! I really like this location because they're friendly and because it's so busy with a drive through they have a high turnover of food, which means our food is almost always made fresh for us. This is the fourth time that we have been through the drive thru around 9-9:15PM. They close at 10. We attempt to place an order and they state "We are out of that and we are getting ready for closing". I ask how long it will take and am advised 15 minutes so I go ahead and order it. Then ask for Veggie Spring Rolls and am told that would be an additional 15 minutes after the first food order. I asked if they are able to cook them at the same time and am advised no because they "are getting ready to close". Steamed rice, veggie spring rolls, egg rolls, fried rice, and Beijing Beef are all out. There is a line several cars long and several customers in the lobby. It seems they should still be cooking all the food that is needed to accommodate their customers when 35-45 minutes remain and they have many customers waiting. We will no longer be patrons of the Lake Oswego location. read more

I do enjoy Panda Express although this was my first time visiting this particular location. I ordered a meal for myself in the drive through and the total was $14.00. When I got to the window to pay I handed over my card to the man at the window and smiled thinking that everything was going to work out great for both of us. After a few minutes with my debit card he came back to me and said that my card was declined. I thought that this was odd as I should have had plenty of funds to cover the transaction so I immediately checked my bank account on my phone and quickly found that he had charged me $140 instead of the $14 total. When I brought this to his attention he said that he had not run the card for $140. I showed him my phone and that it clearly had charged my account $140 to which he replied that he had not run the transaction and that my account did not have sufficient funds for the transaction. At this point I told him that I would come inside as I was holding up the line and we were not getting anywhere. When I got inside I explained that there was no money left in my account to pay for my order due to the fact that I did not have enough funds in my account to cover the $140. When I asked to speak to the manager he told me that he was the manager and that he had reversed the transaction. While I was explaining to him that it would take several days at minimum to get refunded for the error I was told by another customer to quit my bitching and stop holding up the line. At this point I was thoroughly embarrassed as I barely had enough in my account to cover the $140 and now could not afford to pay for my order. I explained to the upset customer what had happened and he told me to take it up with the general manager. I then asked for the general managers name and was told by the man I was talking to named Jose that he was the general manager and that he had already done everything that he could do. I never would have guessed that a quick lunch order would have left me humiliated and broke. This was one of the worst experiences that I have ever had at any business. I understand that mistakes happen. Customer service with a positive attitude can make up for a lot of errors and a smile to a customer after a mixup like this costs the "general manager" and the restaurant absolutely nothing. It is wrong for credit card processing companies and banks to take money from your card instantly and then hold funds for up to 15 days in some cases to correct mistakes like this to begin with and I know that the staff at Panda Express is not to blame for that however this employee denying any wrongdoing and suggesting that was blowing things out of proportion by simply clarifying the situation was highly degrading and left me humiliated on top of being broke and hungry for the afternoon. :( I would say that in the end after reading all of the other reviews on this place it is probably time for Panda Express to really evaluate this location and decide to pull the franchise agreement from this location if they can not get their staff to understand the basic fundamentals of customer service. read more

I know panda isn't the best authentic Chinese food around.. but it's GOOD. And it gets the job done and hits the spot for me every time. Sometimes you just crave it and need it and it's good. I always go for orange chicken and chow mein but sometimes will get the sweet fire chicken. Always good. Especially if you come there when they just made it and it's fresh.
