This is a run-of-the-mill Panda Express. As usual, I ordered Beijing beef, and it was good -- fresh off the wok! But my experience turned south in the men's bathroom. As you can see from my photo, the toilet paper dispenser had gone AWOL. There *was* a roll... but it was on the floor. And soggy. Suffice it to say, I didn't use it. We have always got great tasting food the Panda Express in Effingham. The restaurant is always clean and the food is always fresh. My only complaint is their parking situation. You often have to park a distance away and walk to it. I know their parking is limited but it would be so great if they had a better parking area. Their lo mein is the best. read more

I personally like Chinese food. I know some people might think that Panda Express is American Chinese just like Taco Bell is American Mexican food. However, I like it and they do always serve fresh food like in any other panda location. This Panda Express is located near the truck stop TA RIGHT OFF the interstate. . They also have a donut shop and Taco Bell bear by. This Panda Express, inside is somehow different designed from different locations. It has more spots to sear, and their kitchen is bigger. There are about 50 spots to seat. Their parking lot is clean and very well maintained. Also their bathrooms clean there is no mess very clean. What i usually get here is : sweet and fire chicken, orange chicken, and my favorite is angus steak. I would highly suggest visiting this place and having your lunch here. read more

My experience here was terrible, the only reason why I'm giving it a 2 stars is because the other cashier came and re did my order and was nice about it. But the cashier who refused to give me her name, was very rude, i told her i wanted two bigger plates for me and my best friend, and she said why? Lol why? What? Then i told her i wanted fresh rice and she said this rice is fresh and it was not it looked like it was dry as hell. Anyway she then took my orange chicken and threw it all over my plate and that's why i got mad and started yelling and she was like do you want it or not i was like look get me your manger and she told me he not here, luckily this nice lady came and told she would help me and asked the other girl to go to the back. This place is a joke! One of the worst run pandas I have ever visited. As a trucker I come thru Effingham on a regular basis. Some days they're open some days they aren't. Today their lobby isn't open till 4 pm. Well and good if you have a car. They never have egg rolls. How can you be an Asian anything and not have egg rolls?? I don't think I will be stopping here anymore. It's a shame as I love Asian food. Of all the places around it I only choose the panda and can't even get food. I guess the owner doesn't really care if there is business or not. When they are open they stay busy from what I've seen so it's not a lack of customers. Also a note for the truck drivers: Ahem, first of all we get it you need to eat but you also need to understand that they're trying their best and that they're in fact short staffed. Also there are usually signs on the doors starting clear as day that its online orders only and they do not want you coming to the window for you to order there. There is a reason why they do that. Went in close to closing time due to our kid's basketball game ending late. Was told they were done making new food, but could order from what was left at that point. Pretty disappointed, as our favorites weren't available. We had some friends in there that were eating when we arrived so we stayed and visited with them while they ate. As we were leaving, one of the employees (possibly manager/supervisor) stopped me with large sack in hand. He handed me a bag full of food, free of charge. I really appreciated that, after what had started as a disappointing experience. Good job by the staff for making it as right as they could. If you're into High School gossip and millennials talking about being "triggered," I highly recommend this place. The unfortunate side effect of listening to them talk about who the next QB of the Varsity team is, very little food will actually get made. During my 30 minutes in the building, I went from third in line, to first because the two people ahead of me couldn't get food due to it not being cooked. I then paid, while not being paid attention to, sat down and started eating my pepper with some chicken hiding in it. Once I started eating I began to eaves drop on some wonderful HS gossip and learned that people regularly complain about how slow this place is, and then they talk about you out loud. Shout out to the guys in the kitchen! The food isn't terrible, it's the same recipe Panda wide, so it's hard to screw it up. The tough thing would be to try and actually get the food you want, without having to wait 15 minutes for "your broccoli and beef that should be done in 4 minutes." Good location by I-74; stopped there on the way to St. Louis. Nice interior; clean bathrooms and great customer service. However, it does not matter if the taste of food needs improvement. The food is fresh but the lack of seasoning makes the food boring. I am hoping that the owner sees this and advise to be generous with seasoning. We have been regular at this chain; so we know how good Panda Express can be and this place needs to make foods tastes way better to be on par with the chain. read more

I never used to eat at Panda Express but I'm not sure why. The staff is always so pleasant and friendly! Sadly customer service in the world today is severely lacking, if you don't believe me try shopping at a K-mart. Every Panda Express I've ever been to has wonderful, friendly staff working, a clean environment & fresh food. My husband & I stopped at this location a bit on the late side so they made everything fresh for us. It was a great quick road trip meal. I recommend splitting the 3 course entree, it is a ton of food. The beef & broccoli is my fav. My husband prefers the orange chicken which is also good. Great place! read more

Jumped off the highway to grab a quick bite and hit the washrooms and this location was so nasty. Dirty tables, all of them. Dirty floors. Overflowing garbage cans inside and outside. Heard serving utensils hit the floor in the cooking area. No idea if they picked them up and used them or not. The appearance of the place really worried me about the food. Rice was just put out and it was a bit undercooked and under seasoned. Didn't taste like anything. Noodles looked rubbery. We actually asked someone behind the counter to wipe down a table and besides seeming like she had no idea what she should do, she just wiped the table junk on the floor! When I opened the box I smelled a foul fish smell. Upon biting into it I could immediately taste that the shrimp was really old. Possible set out over night and then fried.
