I seriously should have just flushed $13 dollars down the drain. First I walked up and the young man at the counter literally didn't speak for her 5 minutes. I was standing there and he just kept filling to go orders never looked at me or even said just a minute. I ordered a plate and one whole section was completely empty. This location is pretty rough if you're planning on going through the drive-thru. It's great if you want to test out your 4x4 on some off road-esque terrain without leaving the city limits. My heart is slightly breaking as I write this review. Food is good here. It's not the food that troubled me. Let me mention a few things that did: The person helping me as I ordered wasn't the best customer service. For instance, when I asked if I could have some of the garlic veggies she simply said no, instead of explaining that yes I could but it would be a side order. She also went skimpy on the protein portions. I found this particularly piquant because she had advised that the shrimp with walnuts was an up charge and when I agreed to get it she proceeded to give me, in my opinion, based on past experiences, quite a small portion. The worst part of this experience wasn't the dirty table that I had to clean and sanitize myself but rather the extremely LOUD and offensive music playing in the restaurant. F bombs/ vulgar lyrics were playing and yes there was a family with young children dining inside. I was horrified. When I approached a very nice employee he mentioned my concerns to the manager and the music was changed and volume decreased. Panda is a family friendly dining place correct? It was more like a gangster rap nightclub in there. Some soothing or fun holiday music would have been much better. Or really anything family appropriate without cursing. The peach and lychee tea was not great, pretty bland and lacking in flavor. The veggies could be steamed a bit longer so they will be softer. I will now step down from my soap box. read more

I've been through several locations of Panda Express and as a loyal panda lover, this place was disappointing. I'm visiting from California and this is the worst panda location I've been to. Wait time took ridiculously long for not being busy.. I ordered a bigger plate and they didn't give me the third portion in the small red box like how they normally would do. I have been very disappointed with this Panda Express drive thru lately, and today I'm really digusted!!! My husband went to drive thru and ordered kung pow chicken for himself and a side of chow mein for me. When we opened the bag, it was nothing we had ordered - the entire order was completely wrong! Panda Express is Panda Express, it's Americanized Chinese food and most people realize that by going there. The Tikahtnu location specifically is our favorite to go to. Daisy, the manager is ridiculously friendly and professional! She's ALWAYS so pleasant and our experience there is better whenever we have interaction with her. Whether she actually remembers us or not, she always acts as though she does. All of the staff are pleasant in their dealings with us, but Daisy, we find is over the top AWESOME!!! Mr and I love the Sweet Fire Chicken, sweet and spicy, crispy chicken breast pieces... I recently tried mushroom chicken, which was tasty too. I like to go for the Sweet fire and Kung Pao chicken. The Kung Pao isn't overly spicy, if you're a spicy lover, but it's a nice mix of spicy heat and flavor. I wasn't a fan of sesame chicken, which I recently tried. It wasn't horrible but Sweetfire is much better in my opinion. Mr usually enjoys Orange chicken too. It's sweet with a little bit of heat as well. Beijing Beef is also a favorite, again, a little bit of a sweet and spicy mixture, crispy beef with peppers... suddenly as I'm writing this, I see a pattern in our pallet when we frequent Panda Express!! But hey, that's how we roll! All in all, we have no gripes with any of the restaurants, the food is consistent as is the dealings with the pleasant staff. The extra effort that Daisy puts into her restaurant and customer service makes it that much more of a reason for us to go to Tikahtnu, rather than other locations. read more

I came down here after work ravenously hungry and just to get out of the house for awhile to enjoy the sunny weather we've been having this week. This Panda Express is located next to Red Robin and across from McDonald's by the entrance to Elmendorf Air Force Base. A long line of cars snaked around the parking lot by the drive-thru for the dinner rush. The city has eased restrictions on dining in for restaurants but by reservation only. Panda Express is not one of those establishments hence the massive drive-thru line. The good thing was that these cars were all moving progressively at an average of 2-3 minutes which only made my wait about 15 minutes before pulling up to the menu to place an order. The menu was limited to just a few entree selections and sides. Basically, it was a small selection of their best-sellers so personal favorites like the Shanghai Steak and the Five-Flavor Shrimp were not available unfortunately. There was no specific time given on when the full menu will return. I picked the Kung Pao Chicken and the Honey-Walnut Shrimp as a two-entree combo with Super Greens (a great mix of Chinese vegetables sprinkled with minced garlic). The employee at the window said that they only had a small amount of Super Greens, but there was a new batch being prepared and that the wait was going to be 7 minutes.... 7 minutes with a line of cars behind me?... This wasn't what I wanted to hear but I was too hungry and I didn't want to wait in the parking lot in addition to having waited in line. I had a choice of fried rice, steamed rice, or lo mein noodles. I went with the steamed rice to fill the other half of the sides. I have to hand it to the staff on their safety measures. All the employees had protective masks and even a transparent plastic curtain was draped across the window to protect the upper face when doing cash or card transactions. I get there at 930pm because I work until 9pm. they have limited stuff which is totally fine, I understand I worked at a restaurant/fast food places as well. but i had ordered beef which they stated they had, I get home relaxing and open my bag to see CHICKEN. and has NO flavor at all like it was them just throwing it in because they had to get rid of it. First time the workers mixed up our orders not once, not twice, but three times before giving us the right order. Second time was today. I went threw the drive thru and ordered my usual. It looked as everything had been sitting for a while. I ordered what I do normally...half chow mein, half fried rice, sweet fire chicken and kung pow chicken. Ans because I make bad decisions when I haven't eaten all day, I also ordered a third side of orange chicken. Everything except for the sweet fire chicken was overcooked. The chow mein and rice were both dry, the kung pow chicken was burnt and the orange chicken was overcooked as well. On the bright side, the customer service was exceptional. I got the peppered angus steak, and the mystery meat I was served is questionable at best. It melted in my mouth like tofu. Well finally, YE GODS, we have some half decent Chinese American food in town. It makes my heart a little sad to say something like that about a national chain. But in general, Chimerican food in Anchorage is just garbage. Panda has delivered on its promise for quality, consistent, reasonably priced grab n go food. We tried 7 items. On a scale of 1-5, here's our assessment: Teriyaki Chicken Breast- 4 stars. Succulent, moist, and cut to order. Under marination is the reason for minus one star. I think they were supposed to give us a side of Teriyaki sauce and failed to. Shanghai Sirloin Steak- HOLY BLESSED MOTHER, 5 STARS!!! SO TENDER, SO DELICIOUS. The sauce was fantabulous, the cuts of meat had to be grade A, seriously. The mushrooms were fresh and still had a little snap to them, and there was a smidgen of fresh asparagus. It's a premium item and costs 1.50 extra and is worth every penny. Triple order please! Honey Sesame Chicken- 5 stars. Sweet, sticky and scrumptious sauce on fried crunchy chicken morsels. Get this saucy goodness on top of your rice. Lo Mein- Hm. Weird but good. 3.5 stars. It's more like Ramen than Lo mein. This is considered a side, an alternate to rice. Orange Chicken- 4 stars. Good. Texture of crunchy fried and breaded white meat chicken was perfect. Sauce was ok, but I wish it had the authentic orange peel and hot red peppers. Bejing Beef- 2 stars. Not a good flavor. Had a vague burnt plastic flavor. It looked like it should have been spicy, but other than the burnt plastic lacked any real flavor. It was nicely breaded and fried though. No sauce to speak of. Boring and weird tasting. Black Pepper Chicken- 3 stars Spicier than expected. Not saucy enough, but wet enough to seem slimy. I wish it had been either drier or saucier. Just ok. Other items we didnt try but scoped out: Visually, the chicken string bean thing looked good, the tofu eggplant looked good, the beef and broccoli looked sad, and the Walnutt shrimp was impressively large. Customer service was great. They were incredibly busy and somehow managed to stay ahead of the non stop onslaught of customers. I was really impressed that a new business could run so smoothly, deliver such a good product and handle such volumes. I'm looking forward to my next meal at Panda! read more

I also got two different kinds if chicken and both were over cooked and under sauced. Also approaching dry and crunchy. I've eaten at many panda expresses, and from one panda to the next you can expect consistency. This one is brand new and the equipment, cookware, and cooks could use some breaking in and seasoning that only time and practice brings. On November 16th I stopped at Panda Express to get food. I ordered my food at the window. I ordered an item that costs extra and the employee confirmed that it cost extra and added it to my order. When I was done ordering she told me the total 19.80. When I got to the window the total had gone up to over $21! They admitted that they had made a mistake and that the employee had told me the wrong total but absolutely refused to make it right. So I planned to call the reginal manager and tell them about the horrible service from that employee and manager but 15m later got in a horrible car accident and lost my food AND my receipt. Paid more than promised and didn't even get to eat my food. Super disappointing. Anyway, the way they handled THEIR mistake was unacceptable and I will not be going back. read more

It's a far drive from my home so I wouldn't go out of the way to go there again but if I'm going to the movies at Tikahtnu then I'd probably stop by again. Drive through is a little slow, so you might be better off walking in and ordering as opposed to waiting 20+ minutes in the drive through. Food is decent. Don't expect anything extraordinary here. Spring roll was good, fortune cookie was very fresh and actually had a fortune inside. That is all I can say with a good attitude for our $50 meal. The egg flower soup was hot but totally tasteless. My husband ordered beef chow mein and almond chicken. The beef chow mein had two pieces of beef in it the rest was all over cooked noodles. The almond chicken truly tasted like a frozen dinner. I ordered the chefs special short ribs and teriyaki chicken. What a mistake!! The ribs had no meat and were coated with a nasty sauce. The teriyaki chicken was like jerky and so hard my dog wouldn't eat it she turned her nose up at it. So I have to give a shoutout to one of my favorite guilty pleasures. I honestly go here for lunch with a few co workers at least once a week. The staff is always very friendly, enthusiastic, and works very hard. The food is always amazing and they do a decent job at keeping the food stocked and ready. Usually if you want something that ran out they will bring it to you in about 5 minutes after you pay. The seating is a little small and sometimes wonder if I'll even be able to sit down but somehow always manage to find a seat. I will continue to go as long as I'm in the area. It's convenient but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here as for most fast foodish restaurants. Even with a line you'll move right along pretty quick. Plus it's located near several restaurants so it's a good place to be if you have a sudden change of heart. Would def recommend. (Try the honey walnut shrimp!) read more

It's A little bit iffy. And so if you were thinking of going there check your food before you leave the drive-through because sometimes it's super squishy and 1 million years old... The other time it's fresh. I always end up ordering that she's cream Rangoon's and their orange chicken, not too big on the sides and a tad overwhelmed with the drink prices so I just go to McDonalds if I really want a soda.
