This was a lunch time stable for me. When you don't have much time you could stop by, food was ready and there is a decent assortment of items in a clean environment. You HAVE to pick your days and the time of day, so be careful. I've gone on a couple of Mondays and they close at 3:00 so if I'm really late I can't go there. I'm now understanding their hours but at 2:15 they're turning everyone away? I kept looking at my watch and slightly protested but the indifference on her face told me it was a loss cause. They're decent, just know the time and the day of the week. If it's close to 2:00, go somewhere else because they close at 3. Translation, they CLOSE DOWN and are cleaned up, food put up and door is locked about 2:45. You won't get in after 2:00 so actually they close at 2. Go figure. It's their mode of operation and I just want you to know in case your time is really limited 4 lunch. Otherwise they're ok, really they are. just know the time and the day of the week. read more

Having tried every Chinese buffet in town, I can safely say Panda Buffet is one of the best. It's convenient, reasonably priced, clean, and the owner is so sweet. More recently we have a tradition where we go on Christmas Eve to Panda as they have an array of items and of course, my son's favorite cheese wontons. Their sushi is pretty fresh and they have some favorites of mine like their coconut shrimp and their savory version of sesame chicken. They do carry beer and have ice cream and other desserts you may find at a Chinese buffet. The decor is outdated but we do not care because it's clean and the AC runs cool. read more

This is a good buffet with a sushi bar. They have a huge variety of food broken down into at least 6 to 8 food bars. The service is good to keep your table clean when you go get another plate. They are also good about keeping your drink full. They do this when you go to the bar to get more food in an effort to not disturb you. Fox News is always on the TVs, making it even better. The shrimp is good and so is the chicken. The food seems to be fresh and I've been here over a dozen times. Not sure what the criticism is about old food; I've never seen that. First time here with family it's been years since we been back to Tallahassee now that we live here permanently I have to tell you this place is way better than Chow Time. Cleaner, great service and the food taste better. We thought from the reviews that it would be a bust like Chow Time which was horrible. The result was Panda Buffet outperforms Chow Time and others in the area. The food presentation and cleanliness matters to us and Panda Buffet outperformed in all categories. Great Stop for Lunch! We were driving 5+ hours and had made a pit stop and saw Panda Buffet- just what my hubby was craving! 2 platefuls each of various dishes! Loved the blend of foods- I actually tried and enjoyed the corn nuggets- I tried a purple bread called a Taro Bun, which was sticky and a tiny bit sweet- my hubby and friend thought I was nuts, but it was good! I got all my normal dishes... chicken and broccoli, mushrooms, crab rangoon, fried rice, seafood items too! Everything was great. Loved the music- sounded like popular Chinese music- maybe, I am honestly guessing. All around- great find for lunch! read more

Family owned buffet, very nice people. The afternoon buffet is my go-to since I work in the area. The food is hot and fresh. The hibachi chicken is my new favorite. Really great prices. Classic buffet items plus the new American ones that are popping up. There is no msg (I get migraines from it so I know) and the food is pretty good. I loved the young Sushi guy from a few years ago - the sushi was exceptional then! It's not quiet as varied - as it use to be! The food is good - for Tallahassee! This had been our favorite affordable Chinese buffet. The servers are always kind of blah and the lady at the front desk always acts angry, but the food is good. However, one night we went there and they had no running water in the whole place, so neither customers nor staff could properly wash their hands or the dishes, etc. Yuck! They should have been closed and I called the health department about that. That's disgusting! We left rather than eat there. We already had been seated and my bf accidentally left his phone. When we came back to get it, they claimed we didn't leave anything. Then we tracked the phone directly to one of the workers houses. So angry! They still denied they had it. This is my favorite Chinese place in town. The staff is really friendly and helpful and the food is delicious. I've never seen such a variety of food anywhere else and all of it is amazing. My absolute favorite thing here is the hot and sour soup and it is to die for. I've had it from several different places in town and they were all just wrong, made incorrectly and tasted awful. Now first off, it should be noted that "buffet" Chinese food is completely different than the "traditional" Chinese food; it's obviously a whole different category and should be judged as so. That being said, the "buffet" Chinese food that Panda has to offer is really good. If you're like me and get that craving for cheap Chinese cuisine at least once a week, and you want enough to make sure you will go up a pant size, Panda is the spot. I always get the to-go option despite it being the same price as the in-house option because I am always able to stuff more food in the box than I would if I were to eat in-house. Also, the price includes a bowl for soup, which I thoroughly enjoy stuffing 4 - 5 wontons into before ladling it all with some wonton or egg-drop soup on top. Whenever I bring my box up to check-out, I always expect criticism considering my box probably weighs 3 - 4 pounds; however, they never bat an eyelash and are very polite. Most of the meat dishes are chicken and shrimp and are really good. They have a couple of beef dishes, but they don't carry my favorites such as Mongolian or Schezuan beef. However, their food is always good and I've never had an issue with it. Also, they have decent sushi (primarily crab and shrimp based) and will provide you a little cup for wasabi and/or ginger to take home with you. It's a great deal (around $10 for dinner), you can get A LOT of food, staff is nice, facility is clean, and the food (from my experiences) is always cooked right. This is by no means traditional Chinese, however, as far as "buffet"-style Chinese goes, it's one of the best in town. read more

Don't even bother. Just go next door to Publix and order from their hot bar. Nothing was good here and I tried it all- or at least most. Some of the seafood looked downright scary! When I told them that the bean dumpling was actually SOUR - as I'm bad, I was told that I was mistaken. They had sat out on the tray so long, they were hard in the bottom. After being told I was wrong, someone actually went over to smell and taste it. They pulled the few that were left in the tray off. The manager brought me a new one, but there was nothing redeeming about it. I tried sushi, general Taos chicken, crab rangoon and much more. Most was just a bite or two. How can Panda Buffet get it so wrong? Pass this one by. Try hong kong house, Publix or even Nearby Popeyes instead. Sorry, Panda, but I'm not giving any more chances. every time I get the notion to re-visit, I'm quickly sorry I did. And I SO wanted a decent Chinese buffet. Darn. Why the negative? A couple of standouts. First, a significant number of the pans were low on food, as in down to the last few dregs low. Several pans were obviously well past their holding prime and were in dire need of replenishment. Hot and sour soup was gluey thick with cornstarch. Second, though there was steam rising from the steam tables, virtually everything I selected was tepid or room temperature. If you don't have restaurant or food service experience, food temps are the second item a health inspector checks (what's first? Can opener). Before you say "I bet the food got cold on the plate before you sat down," I had my trusty no contact infrared thermometer in hand, so I know temps were below the 140 degree limit. As usual, the dining area was clean, and the staff very friendly and attentive. Maybe management should reduce the number of choices and concentrate on food quality. Reduce the size of the steam pans -- smaller means the food turn go up, and that equals fresher. And when pans are removed from refrigeration, make sure they're heated before they make their way to the buffet. While we want/need/desire an Oriental buffet in the NE, without major changes the Fat Guys don't recommend Panda. read more

Not a bad Chinese buffet restaurant. Although I don't do sushi I noticed that they offer a full sushi bar. The buffet offers plenty of options including some that are not oriental at all (macaroni & cheese and corn nuggets). I enjoyed everything I tried. It all seemed freshly prepared and was very tasty. I particularly enjoyed the wonton soup. The wontons were steamed separately which you would choose and place in your bowl then ladle the broth over them. As a result, the wontons were not mushy and falling apart like I've seen in some wonton soups. It was really good. I wouldn't mind coming back. read more

Just left here and after the reading the reviews I have to agree with many. Although the food was good it was cold on some items while others were semi warm. Alot of tge hot plate foods were "Steaming" but cold or warm at best.. The food had good taste but a few items were old and dried out.. Sushi was great and fresh! I'd give more stars but the food was subpar.. The bathroom was another thing, although clean the stalls were small, doors didn't lock and would hit the toilet paper despenser... The doors were rotten and the toilets sisnt flush very well.. The tables and chairs were also in dire need of repair.. My husband booth seat literally would bend over and the tables were cracked.. Overall we would go again if the food was hotter but sadly we won't be going back... read more

Had a quick lunch with some co-workers and the buffet seemed the place to go for so many different tastes buds. It was a busy and packed Friday afternoon but we were greeted and seated immediately. They have a nice spread of items and everything was well done. I normally avoiding sushi at a buffet, but my boss took the risk so I joined him. I can say it was fresh and there was a server behind the sushi waiting to aid us. I just have no idea what Asian fusion sushi they put together.
