DINE IN DURING PANDEMIC…read more One way in, one way out, mask/face shield/temp/alcohol hand wash/questionnaire mandatory when walk in. Most patrons and workers wore only masks. Staff are friendly and shout greetings as you enter. They're hardworking, efficient and you can ask any one of them for assistance. You order at the counter then they bring the food to your table. Many menu items are not available, so ask before ordering to prevent disappointment. After ordering we chose to sit at the table furthest away and most isolated from the others. There was a screen and a fan facing away from us: hubby said it was to blow the Covid germs the other direction HAHA! They have a nice, spacious dining area with comfortable seating both inside and outside. We ordered the sausage breakfast. The "toast" was very pale, next time I'll have to tell them "well done". Other than the toast, breakfast here is always a solid choice. Because of the pandemic we rarely go out, so to celebrate we had the Tiramisu Macaron and Affogato for dessert. The ice cream in the Affogato was too sweet for me to eat by itself; but it balanced perfectly when paired with the bitterness of the coffee, not bad. The macaron, on the other hand, was meh. I'm sure it would have tasted much better fresh from the bakery; but the macaron was already stale. I'm sure we'll be back when we're in the area. I'm a sucker for new restaurants or any establishment that I haven't tried so when a former…read morecolleague of mine decided to rendezvous in Eastwood, I asked her if she was OK with trying out The Wicked Waffle. She consented, and so off we went. The first thing that I have to comment about is that it was so ironic... but the restaurant told us that they were out of waffles for the day. To be honest, that's a deal-breaker for me when it comes to restaurants -- them being out of stock of ANYTHING, but I was in a good mood so I let it slide. After all, that's life. Crap happens. It was dinner time anyway so I decided to go for the SPAM Filipino favorite meal; which features two slices of pan-seared SPAM, two farm-fresh eggs (any style), and unlimited garlic rice. Needless to say, I was very full. It's comfort food at its finest and at its cheapest so how could I complain? Of course, the ambiance isn't entirely luxe, but what do you expect for these prices? This is a good place to go to if you're on the search for a quick bite that won't break the bank and that will leave you 100 percent satisfied. I look forward to trying out the waffles next time around. Lastly, their iced tea is pretty good too.

Now this place knows how to scratch any breakfast itch you might have. Want rice? They have it…read more Adobo flakes, beef tapa, longganisa, you name it All with unlimted farlic rice. Noodles? They have tht too. Arroz Caldo? Got you covered. Eggs? Pasta? Protein? Check, check and double check. (Ever wanted steak at 7am? How about a porkchop?) Pancakes and waffles? That's why they're called Wicked Waffles, after all. It's clear where they get their name once you see their menu. Apart from your classic stack of pancakes/waffles with butter and syrup, they also have these indulgently good "I shouldn't be having these for breakfast" waffle sundaes. Exactly what it sounds like: ice cream, toppings, sauce and (obviously) waffles. And not just any waffles. Matcha waffles. Red Velvet waffles. Chocolate waffles. Now this. THIS is what you call an indulgent breakfast. But to be honest, that wasn't what drew me. What did was the great value that was their Breakfast of Champions. Waffle, bacon, scrambled eggs and their exceptionally good home fries. Either that or their Wicked Pancake Sandwich. Ugh. Just writing about it is making me want those home fries.

So it was my first official day in BGC, and I was ready to live my best city-girl life. After a…read morelittle online sleuthing (a.k.a. me scrolling through Google Maps like it's Tinder), I decided to check out Pancake House -- conveniently a short walk from where I was staying. Like most sit-down spots in BGC, the service was lovely -- smiles all around, not a single complaint. But let me drop a PSA for any future diners: these folks have Olympic-level upselling skills. You think you're just getting a drink? Boom -- now it's a refillable iced tea. You order a meal? Suddenly, it comes with a "highly recommended" upgrade. They could probably convince you to add an appetizer to your water. Anyway, I went with the pork tocino breakfast (because I'm not about to skip protein) and added caramel walnut banana pancakes -- because self-care. The tocino and garlic fried rice were so good I had to tap out before even touching the pancakes, so I boxed them to go. Fast-forward a few hours: I'm ready for my pancake moment. I butter them up, drizzle that caramel sauce, take a bite -- and immediately go, "Wait... why does this taste... meaty?" After a few detective bites, I realized there was definitely some kind of cross-contact situation happening. Somewhere, a rogue spatula betrayed me. I sadly retired the pancakes to the trash. Honestly, aside from the unexpected meat-flavored dessert, it was still a decent experience and a solid kickoff to my BGC trip. Lesson learned though: in Manila, even your pancakes might come with a little extra protein. Overall, I'm giving the tocino breakfast a 4.5, the banana pancakes a 2 (1 for looks and the other 2 for effort), service a 4 so I feel a solid 3.5. Worth a visit and the Mind Museum is a short walk away too!!

I kept seeing this around the BGC area. So I asked my sister how are the food there, she said "…read moredon't go there, not good". We were walking around we couldn't make a decision on where to eat despite massive choices in restaurants. I ordered 2 taco, that says"best intown" but it's not the best. Taco bell is better, and I'm not a taco person. My husband ordered the chicken burger, he didn't eat it at all because of the pure grease on the deep deep fridge chicken meat upon biting. The bread they used for a burger tasted weird. The kids ordered pancake for supper , pancake is always a safe choice. So one star only. I was warned.
