Penne Arrabiata, French Toast w/ Berries, Eggs Benjamin
    Abby I.

I am an avid bruncher and I was pleasantly surprised at my dining experience at Eggs for Breakfast with a friend. It's a small space tucked away by an events venue inside a village in Antipolo, quaintly decorated providing a cute, homey atmosphere. We were promptly attended to and their service was consistent throughout our meal. They offer a good variety on their menu, which made our decision difficult (although not a bad problem to have). My friend ordered the Penne Arrabiata, and I the Eggs Benjamin. We also decided to share an order of the French Toast with Berries. I loved my Eggs Benjamin. The hollandaise sauce was good, egg yolks perfectly runny, and the cured salmon provided the right amount saltiness. I was able to taste my friend's dish as well, and it also tasted great! In addition, the French Toast with Berries was a great end to our meal. Toast was battered well and the berries tasted as fresh as they looked.

Deconstructed Hashbrowns and White Truffle Carbonara

Anyone who's big on breakfast, I would most certainly love. Breakfast food is something you could eat all-day at any time you most desire. If I could live on bacon, cereals and eggs all-day without the worries of cholesterol, I definitely would! I would liken it to immortality. And everyone loves a long life with bacon (that is unless you're vegan and I'm not going to hold it against you). Thing is, you have to work your way to find Eggs for Breakfast. It's like stumbling upon the witch's house in Hansel & Gretel. Only this time, no one's there to eat you. But you'll be there to pick a tribute(s) for your mouth, Hunger Games style! There may be signs leading up to the restaurant. However, you might mistake a private property for it. Don't fret! Because if it looks like a bed and breakfast or a house, then you're in the right place. They have a parking spot for restaurant goers. Just don't make the mistake of going down the road like I did. It's like you blink and you'll miss it type of parking lot. I've had my taste of the Deconstructed Hashbrown (P110). I wasn't really raving about it because it was like poutine with bacon and egg. It could've been better but the presentation was A+. After that my main course was White Truffle Carbonara (P250). Now, I know I should've ordered something breakfast-related but the price tag on this one was fairly cheaper than the ones I would usually try. I knew I had to go for it! It was so creamy and tasted like how carbonara should be - heavenly. But to be fair, any good food in my mouth is heavenly.

Location: A bit challenging to find the place but if you go slow, you probably won't miss the landmarks. I highly suggest to go during the day, if it's your first time, pero kaya naman i-Waze. From Marcos highway (from QC), make a right on Sumulong highway, then watch out for the Villa Cecilia sign on your right. Turn right, Eggs for Breakfast is at the end of the street. They have parking for maybe 6 to 8 vehicles. There is also street parking. The place: Cool and relaxing, no loud music, laughter from the next table does not really bother you (maybe because ok ang acoustics?). The place kinda reminds me of Bag of Beans in Tagaytay (the first branch). The food: Tried the One Pan breakfast. Good size for sharing for 2 - 3. Good food, good coffee. Wasn't a fan of their pancakes, though. Conclusion: I will most likely try the place again when there is no traffic (maybe a holiday). Good find! (Posted some photos but apologies for the quality, or lack thereof)

Walked in around 7:30 before the mall got crazy, and the place was chill with that cozy café smell hitting you right away--fresh coffee and baked goods. Ordered the longsilog and wow, the longganisa patty was juicy and garlicky without being too greasy, paired with perfectly sunny-side-up eggs and garlic rice that was spot-on crispy. The atchara on the side cut through everything so nicely. Grabbed their signature ube pandesal French toast on the side because why not, and it was ridiculous--soft, custardy inside with that sweet ube glaze that wasn't overpowering. Coffee was strong and hot, just how I like it. Server was super attentive without hovering, refilled my water before I even asked. For the price, it felt like a steal compared to other spots in the area. Everything tasted fresh and made with care. 100% coming back tomorrow before my flight. If you're anywhere near Newport, don't sleep on this place.

But it really looked like a house. I kind of told myself that the owners who run this establishment converted this house into a cozy spot outside the metro. And it magically worked. I came in to grab some brunch. So I ordered their signature pancakes and their mashed potato salad. I was not disappointed. The pancakes were the best I had in years, and the mashed potato salad was wonderfully flavourful. It was the worth the wait: the food was done as beautifully as the cafe itself. So, if you and your friends are planning to go on a road trip, be sure to head to this place. You may never wanna leave afterwards!

We were lucky enough to find out that the café was actually open (I believe 14 Four Café is closed from Monday to Thursday) so we didn't hesitate to order food. There wasn't anything special about their version of the Pinoy fave Tapsilog but their Aligue and Tuyo Pasta was worth a try. The pasta is very creamy so I suggest you share this someone. But a real hit for me was their Cinnamon Bun Pancakes. It was light and yummy, absolutely great to pair with an ice-cold glass of Calamansi juice. Another thing that's great about this place is how Instagram-able it is. Every nook has got a quirky feel to it so taking your selfies here should be real fun! It's colorful and vibrant - a perfect meeting hub for creative people! In the number of times I've been to 14 Four Café, I've seen different types of people hanging out in this place. From the artsy-fartsy kids to the hipster coffee-loving dudes, 14 Four Café is getting more and more popular with the young crowd.

Got there right around 7:30, snagged a nice window table with morning light pouring in, and dove straight into the spread. They had this killer lineup--garlic rice, longganisa that was juicy and not too sweet, perfectly fluffy scrambled eggs, crispy danggit, and some really good tapa that was tender and full of flavor. The free-flowing coffee kept coming without me even asking, which was clutch. Everything tasted fresh, nothing felt like it was sitting out too long, and the vibe inside is so chill and homey, like you're eating at a friend's place but better. Left feeling full, happy, and already plotting my next visit to try their all-day menu--heard the bibimbap and pancakes are next-level. Solid five stars, hands down.

They have a breakfast buffet every Friday to Sunday which starts at 7 am and ends at 10 am. They don't have a lavish spread of items on the buffet to choose from, but they do have just the right amount of variety to keep your meal from becoming a dull repetition of viands. From my experience, they had breakfast items such as tocino, scrambled eggs, tapa, and fish fillet. They change the choices once in a while, and they have free-flowing coffee as part of the package!! So be early! If you miss the buffet, don't worry! They have lots of a la carte meals that will satisfy you as much as their buffet will.

It was the foamiest cappuccino I've had in ages! If you're the type who wants your coffee with heaps of creamer (or milk) on it, then this is the right choice for you. I'd tell you a secret. Finish your coffee all the way down and you'll realize that they have added a cocoa on your usual cappuccino cup! No wonder my coffee was tastier than ever. Liempo strips were served with 2 condiments placed in a shot glass - maple syrup & BB's homemade vinegar. The former brought out the flavors of the strips. Hail to it being the recommended dish by Spot.Ph! The tapa bowl with brown rice was amazing as well. My partner is very selective with the dishes but she commended the tapa. It was juicy, tender and has it's own flavor. We were billed around P500 for 2, exclusive of service charge. Is there any way you would expand the place to cater group diners?

Generous amount of sardines and studied tomatoes went well with the al dente pasta. A wonderfully done pasta by a place I associate with breakfast food. - Crispy Plain Waffles: Pretty tasty on its own (which is a good sign), though a bit too crispy and chewy for me. - Pancakes: Soft and pillowy. Definitely preferred these to the waffles. - Spinach, Mushroom and Cheese Omelette: The omelette was melt-in-your-mouth fluffy. Unfortunately it was also a bit bland. Good amount of cheese but would have liked more mushrooms and spinach. - Hazelnut Coffee: Strong hazelnut taste. Appreciated that it wasn't watered down. Service was attentive and efficient.
