When you are with a group of friend and someone wants to try things, the music is blasting! So if you are bothered by loud noises I wouldn't go in this place. I also, have mixed feeling about the items. I do think that some things can be overpriced but somethings are really cute and feel unique. I know that these shops are going to be more money because it is a tourist spot, but sometimes things are little crazy IMO. If you are looking for cute gifts you can find something for 20 bucks but if you want a dress get great to spend around 100 on one thing.

They have demonstrated very good communication whether by phone, texting, or email ... and even without my asking, have been very reasonable with me on pricing. I think what stands out is that they are interested in forming a long-term relationship/satisfaction with their customers... not just pushing sales for a "one-time" purchase, which is really refreshing. I happen to have spoken to one or two other customers I've seen in the shop and they said their experiences were the same as mine. A unique gem of place in amongst all the "touristy" shops in St. Augustine.

I was at this awesome little shop this last Saturday, 4/22- fantastic inventory for a smaller shop. There are a few shops in the area with knife selection but they're utterly inferior (but fun to check out) compared to this shop. The one thing that showed me that this shop even existed was the awesome sign that says something along the lines of, "manly toys, manly hobbies"- I had to drop in to see if the sign lived up to its claim. As I've said, I was very impressed with the offerings they've got at this shop. Wasn't just that though- both of the employees on shift were absolutely top-notch. One of them was working on a tool or busy with something iirc but when I walked by him he greeted me and told me to please let him know if there's anything he can help me with. A few minutes later I took him up on it and asked if I could take a closer look at a nice camo para 2 I had my eye on. He dropped what he was doing and said, "oh absolutely brother, no trouble at all". Love the attitude. We chatted for a good 5-10 min, the guy is super knowledgeable.. steels/general metallurgy, guns, actions, history, etc.- the guy knew darn near everything. I forgot to ask his name but he's the guy who had a grandpa who worked on design for one of the big firearm manufacturers back in the day. I had just finished eating a big meal so I was a little sleepy- wish I remembered which manufacturer as that would help identify the guy (he and I were looking at one of the bright yellow serrated H2 knives that had a depressed glass-breaker at the butt of the knife's handle- we were both confused as neither of us had ever seen that mechanism in a knife before. It pops out when you squeeze the handle with the blade closed). He was great- best interaction I've had with an employee/salesperson in a good while- he definitely belongs in sales/customer service as he was warm, welcoming, very knowledgeable, conversational, etc. I genuinely enjoyed conversing with him and will definitely be back to this shop primarily because of him (it's hard to find good help nowadays- someone who actually cares about something other than tiktok, especially in the younger generations... I should know as I'm a part of those younger gens) but also because of the solid product selection. Anyway, there was a skinnier gentleman working behind the counter as well- he was great and very helpful. TL;DR : Come visit this shop- I promise you will absolutely not regret it! Great selection (Spyderco, Benchmade, Kershaw, Microtech, CRKT, etc), great staff, and solid location. I'll be back very soon! The only thing I'd like to see different is for them to start carrying Zero Tolerance. They're absolutely fantastic knives, rock-solid and they use great steels.

Oh and did I mention complimentary champagne. My friend Vanessa RSVP'd for us to attend a private shopping event. She posted on IG a few months ago and the store looked charming so I asked her to take me next time. We checked in upon arrival and were offered one of three Easter themed mimosas. Yes, please and thank you;) We browsed candles, cloths, greeting cards , jewelry, candy, Easter baskets, moisterizing face masks, mugs, cups, books, journals, small bags and much more. The cool part was the gifts were unique, items you will not find in any other store. There was a book you fill out, answering questions about someone else, then you give it as a gift. It was called, "A Book About You." This would be a thoughtful present! They gave us a recyclable bag when we came in. We used it to shop then took it home. My friend purchased a few gifts and they wrapped them in tissue paper and added a bow to the bag. So nice! Service was excellent and check-out moved quickly. They have a rewards program which I joined as I know I will be going back soon!

The duck theme is everywhere from the walls to the duck leg bar seats. It was crowded when we went, but people seem to just stick around for a drink and move on, so we got a table pretty quickly. Definitely recommend it for something a little different!

I am a large person with a large head (7 3/4). I had choices! I came in looking for a specific Fedora they had on their web site. Tony had it in an 8, but not in a 7 3/4. Tony found me another Fedora (much cheaper). He added a custom liner so I could wear the hat (mild allergy to wool which is why I wanted the Stetson Stratoliner). He custom fit the hat for my head (I broke my skull in my youth so my head is odd shaped). I also bought Panama Hat from them. He steamed it to my look and added the hat liners to shape my head. The store was busy but Tony effectively switched between me and other customers. If you are looking for a hat and want selection, this is the place. If you have an odd sized or shaped head (I have both), Tony is your man. He has the old school equipment to adjust your hat to you. There was no charge. I doubt I will need another hat, the two I have are high quality and should last me many years, but if I do, I will return to the Panama Hat Company and look Tony up. read more

Just tried to purchase in this shop. The lady at the counter was extremely rude about wearing a mask. I had planned on buying $100 hat or more but she was too arrogant to offer a solution or care about my business. I have bought hats here in the past and I am sure her bosses would frown on running away business A lot of the businesses must have gotten PPE funds from a taxpayer like myself that paid for Stimulus not received Stimulus. Governor DeSantis opened up Fl and business is good. l would steer anyone I know from shopping at The Panama Hat Company on St GeorGe Street for their lack of business ettoquite and an entitlement attitude they will get bailed out of shut downs happen again. A few years ago we purchased a "smart" woven hat with a plaid band for my father-in-law. Very fashionable - and he often received comments from others when he wore it. However, he tended to pinch the top of the crown when he either put it on or off, which resulted in a small hole. We were told the correct way which was taking it off by the brim. We asked if it could be repaired. Not only did the owner, Tony, repair the hat and reinforce what he repaired, he did it without cost. I have been visiting St Augustine for a bunch of years. In that time I discovered a hat store. I stopped in and Tony set a Panama on my head. The rest is history. Each year I visit and come away with a new hat each year. Whether it's a Tilley or Kangol or a fine hat. Tony is there to take care of me. After sale issue? I had put a dent in one of my Panama's. Tony said bring it in or send it. Well I brought it in left it overnight. The next day it looked brand new. For a great hat and look stop by the store and see Tony. read more

I recently purchased the Custom Low Crown Safari for shipment to Arizona. Tony was quick to respond when I encountered a hiccup in the on line ordering process. Tony Lippi, was outstanding in his service, helped me properly size the hat. I was a whole two sizes off, instead of 7 5/8 I should've been a size 8. Even though I was experienced in buying Tilley hats (this is my third) and should've known better somehow I had forgotten several important techniques for proper sizing and appearance. When I find myself back in St. Augustine Florida I will definitely pay that store a visit again. read more
