This Greek spot is a gem in Shepherdstown. The atmosphere is casual, inviting and intimate. The pricing is affordable and the menu is expansive. We started with the flaming cheese. Even though it was a bit salty, it was yummy. The entrees are large. Good food. Lots of traditional options - gyros, kebabs, skewers, and more. Great drinks. The pita and tzatziki were delicious. Jack was our server and he was knowledgeable, friendly and prompt. The restaurant has a full bar and makes a very good filthy martini. Tip: there's a speakeasy Burnt Secrets in the basement. It's seasonally decorated. Good selection of drinks. They take reservations and walk ins. Must stop for a drink after dinner. read more

Is be willing to give Pangiota's another chance (there aren't a lot of great restaurant options in Shepherdstown), but I'd order very cautiously. The gyro meat, for example, was freshly carved and very tender, but I ordered it on the "Aegean salad," and it was SOAKED in a very acidic and chemical-tasting dressing that made it impossible to taste. I complained and got another bowl to drain off the 1/2-cup of excess dressing. I should've demanded a fresh dressing-free salad. Maybe I'd try the lamb souvlaki or the moussaka next time. The chicken was overcooked and dry and lacking in flavor. The rice was mushy and also lacking in flavor, and clearly had been cooked in far too much water. Bland or Overpowering? Those seem to be the two choices here. The green beans aren't advertised as spicy, but they were exceedingly so -- the last thing I would've expected to be a heartburn special. Don't order them if you are sensitive to spice or acid. read more

Very nice transition from a food truck to a brick and mortar restaurant. Bright clean and fresh with plenty of seating. The food was as good as their food truck if not better which is very good quality. The service was a bit slow at first and the timing of appetizers, salads and entrees should have been timed better. I feel you should not still be eating your appetizer when the entrees arrive. The saganaki (flaming kasara cheese) was a show . Maybe too much of a fire hazard lol but tasty. The pita bread tasted fresh and homemade. Shepherdstown can be tough to park on weekends and in the summer so without a parking lot I might pass on visiting during those times since it's only street parking. A very good experience and I would definitely return when possible so I give them 4 1/2 stars read more

Nestled in the heart of Shepherdstown's historic downtown, this new Greek restaurant, opened by the owners of a local food truck favorite brings authentic family recipes to a cozy, tastefully decorated brick-and-mortar space. Service was friendly and attentive, though timing could use some refinement. Our entrée arrived too close to our appetizer, and the lack of small plates for the shared saganaki detracted slightly from the otherwise seamless experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, that perfectly suits the charm of Shepherdstown. For the quality of the meal, and portion sizes. Value is there. This is a fantastic addition to Shepherdstown's culinary scene! With a bit more polish on timing, it has the potential to be an all-around standout. Finally made it out to Panagiota's Taste of Greece and all I can say is WOW ! Located in downtown shepherdstown, this place is a must visit for Greek food lovers!! They have a pretty awesome cocktail menu, Ashley Mendoza started with a Rockefeller spritz and she loved it (it was a large glass as well) We started off with the Flaming Saganaki which they do table side, think a wheel of cheese on fire with added oregano done table side. It's a cool experience and a must try, and the cheese is pretty solid. They have wood fired pizza, so we started with a white pizza. The pizza was pretty solid, the dough is a bit thicker so if you like fuller pizza this is a good spot for you. The flavors were great and the garlic came through upfront. The star of the show was the gyro and Greek potatoes. When I say this is easily the best gyro I've ever had, I mean it. The meat tasted super high quality, the tzatziki was fresh, and the pita really complimented it as well. I would def go back for this gyro alone. The Greek potatoes were also awesome, super thick and had a slight level of acidity which was nice. we finished it off with the lava cake, although it felt like a crime not ordering baklava this was still really awesome! One thing that stood out to me was the service. When we walked in, the general manager Major greeted us and was extremely friendly. The staff were also super attentive and pleasant. Passing through Shepherds town over Labor Day weekend we spotted Panagiota's and decided to grab lunch mid-afternoon. We had an amazing experience. Both the service and food were excellent. Everyone we spoke with was welcoming and made us feel like we were special guests. For two people, we ordered the Village salad, Lemon chicken and rice soup (which came with warm pita wedges), and a Traditional gyro. All dishes had generous portions, and were very flavorful. When the staff found out that this was our first time visiting they gave us a sample of the baklava ice cream. It was incredible! We will definitely be back the next time we are in town. read more

Full start service, very fast serving speed, and a quiet and chill ambiance. Our server Nate elevated the entire experience for us this evening. We were greeted nicely and led to a well set table. We ordered and appetizer and an entre for sharing, and Nate coordinated with the kitchen to serve split portions in two plates. Same thing with the salad. It was really considerate. We love Greek food and were excited to try Panagiota's, but it was a big disappointment and we won't eat here again. The food was really bad and the service wasn't much better. The spanakopita and saganaki were both burnt on the bottom. We still ate the appetizers but would not order them again. For dinner, I ordered chicken skewers with rice. The chicken was dry and bland, and the rice tasted like Mexican rice; the whole dish tasted like cafeteria food. My daughter ordered Pastitsio; the noodles were mushy, the flavors were very unbalanced, and ultimately she decided it was so bad she couldn't eat it. I make Pastitsio at home, and this wasn't even close. My son got the traditional gyro. He said it was okay but also said he's had better at a carnival. On top of everything else, our dinners did not come out at the same time. I was completely finished my dinner before my son and daughter even got theirs. The server was friendly but not very attentive. The only real positive thing about our visit here was the dragon fruit drink that I ordered, which was actually pretty tasty. read more

The gyro meat was fine, but the pita was only heated, not crisped on the grill. I have never had a gyro served without onions. Without them it's not a traditional gyro, which is what this item is referred to on their menu. The fries weren't crisp but tasted fine. The service was excellent and my meal came out in a timely manner. I would not come here again or recommend Panagiota's to friends. read more

The food was fresh and delicious. The restaurant was clean and bright, which includes the bathroom. The staff was friendly but not in the fake way. I ordered a veggie meal and was delighted with it. We stopped in at Panagiota's for lunch on July 4th. We were seated promptly, but otherwise service was very slow, especially considering most tables were empty. I ordered the Lamburger...Rare and a side salad, my companion ordered the Falafel Wrap.When the food arrived my Lamburger was dry and gray, and no side salad, My companion's Falafel Wrap turned out not to be a wrap at all, but a plate full of overdone, nearly black balls. About 3 were edible, the rest were clearly ruined. When the waitress appeared we both complained about the situation: On the burger, a shrug and "sorry" ...no attempt to offer a remake. The side salad was delivered and was, actually, the best part of the meal. As to the falafels, the server did concede that the appetizer had been delivered instead of the wrap and did offer to take them back an put up as the wrap, this was declined as the falafels were already nearly cold and wrapping them up would not have been a satisfactory outcome. A piece of Pita bread was requested and delivered, and, along with my salad was the best part of her meal. They did, however, charge $1 for it. They may have had a bad day and a new inexperienced waitress...but if I have ever had a worse Greek meal, I don't remember it. read more
