Super find.
Did you know it's impossible to find breakfast in Fajardo on a Tuesday? I didn't either! Many of the best restaurants are closed (it's their weekend, I guess). So after driving around like nitwits for over an hour trying to find a place (curse you, Apple Maps!) I noticed this place in the urban core of old Fajardo, we found a parking place on the street a couple of blocks away (would our rental car be up on blocks when we returned? Stay tuned to find out!), and we sauntered in.
Now one could be forgiven for thinking this is a Local's-Only joint that is unwelcoming to floundering touristas that stumble in, but that would be a mistake. While their English is scarcely better than my (appallingly bad) Spanish, the menu posted above the register is clear ("jamon" = ham; "queso" = cheese; "huevos" = eggs; and these three components constitute the lion's share of their offerings). We fumbled through our order, and took one of the three tables to await the results.
The locals passing through were a bit thrown when they saw these interlopers invading their neighborhood haunt, but accepted us quickly (it helps when you get out of the way of the scratch lottery tickets).
In a short time, our meals arrived. They were tasty and nutritious. I wolfed mine down with reckless abandon; my comrade dined at a stately pace, but at the end of the meal, we agreed the the food and coffee were delicious and worth searching for.
So upon our return to our vehicle, what did we find? It was as we left it: unmolested, and in fine condition. read more
