Pernil sandwich.

Always choose the locals spot! Food so good we came back a second time. The habichuelas, pernil sandwich, and any arroz con carne combo are a must have.

This place was amazing. The food was absolutely delicious. I had an almuerzo of churrasco and my husband had the chicken with abichuela we also orden tostones. The hospitality from everyone was phenomenal. They even brought us a flan. Highly recommended.

Tuna sandwich (I obviously couldn't wait to eat)

We stopped here after visiting the rainforest. We each had the tuna sandwich and honestly we should have gotten 1 sandwich the portion was huge but we were hungry. I got some plantains on the side and we shared the tres leches. The owner and the staff was so very friendly, we loved talking to them. The food was awesome and was a great price. We hope to come back again.

Great $5 breakfast combo!

We stopped here on our way back to San Juan from Ceiba. Really great service, and awesome breakfast for only $5! They have a good selection of breakfast/brunch/lunch items on their menu. Definitely a good place to check out in Fajardo.

Amazing! Found this gem on our way to El Yunque to go hiking, which may or may not happen now. The Cubano was heavenly, the meat melts in your mouth. I took a bite and thought I saw St. Peter at the gates of heaven. Not only was my belly sufficiently full from just half, yes half, but my wallet was also still full because the amount of food you get for the cost makes you feel as if you stole the food. Fun fact: if you're a tourist they can tell and are extremely welcoming. I want this family to adopt me.

Best damn turkey sandwich PERIOD!

Please come here if you're going to be in Fajardo. I am not joking or exaggerating but they made the best damn turkey sandwich I have ever tasted. Top 5 sandwiches of all time in my opinion. We didn't want to fill up because we wanted to eat elsewhere but we were starving so we split one order. It was HUGE. One sub is good enough for 2 if you get chips or a dessert. We both bit into and and we're shocked. Hard to explain how something so simple can pack such flavor. I asked the owner what the hell did I just eat because no turkey sandwich should be that good. He explained the whole process he goes through from marinating the entire turkey for a day to baking it in the oven. What a long process for a sandwich but DAMN it was great. No joke please seek this place out! Best meal in Fajardo!

We stopped here on our way to Vieques, while waiting for the ferry. It was kind of late in the afternoon around 2:30pm so the food choices were slim pickings. Still everything we ordered, rice and beans con jamón, pollo al horno, mashed potatoes, Swedish meatballs (a bit on the dense and greasy side) maduros were all very tasty. 100% authentic and the service was sincere. When we went to pay we were given 2 free desserts. One rice pudding and the other coconut custard. Both very good. My favorite was the coconut custard. Prices were agreeable. $23 bucks for two meals with 3 drinks.

Local Bakery. Good attention. Very good breakfast. Very economic price. I will definitely come again. If you are in your way to Vieques, El Conquistador or this east area of the island, give it a try.

Omelet...

The best part is that it's cheap. $4 for a freshly made omelet. Can't complain. Wouldn't go out of my way to come here but it's fine for a quick bite. The pastry I has was ok too- not bad, not great.... For me it wasn't good enough to be worth the calories.

Such an amazing place to stumble upon! The owners are extremely kind, and even explained to us the meaning behind the local foods. The food was extremely delicious and flavorful, while also being very affordable. Great experience and would definitely return again and again!

Some Puerto Rican food we tried at Los Nietos!

This place is basically a hometown bakery/cafeteria which is frequented by the locals. Good food and tasty pastries.

Delicious! We had Cuban sandwiches-very generously sized, could have split one. Friendly service, very clean little deli.

Review Highlights - Los Nietos

I has a "Desayuno Completo, Avena, and some sweet bread" and everything had enriched flavor like if it was made at home style (none of that Denny's plastic).

This little shack is very popular since it's on the beach and people are hungry after a day of…read moreswimming and laying around on the beach in Puerto Rico. It's a hard life. What's nice about this place is that they offer a variety of the fried foods Puerto Rico is known for- alcapurrias (fried fritters) and pastelillos (empanadas). I ordered the pastelillos de jueye (crab), garrucho (conch- HIGHLY recommended!!), pulpo (octopus), and Pollo (chicken). The 2 favorites of mine were the conch and octopus because the chunks of meat were so ginormous! They were also flavorful and fresh! You can tell they weren't stored for a while on some shelf. They tasted like they were caught that morning. One caveat about this place is that if they run out of food, they will tell you it's about a 5-10 minute wait to make more. Not the case. It took them upwards of about 30 minutes to make it and they did not seem like they were in a rush to make it. That is a big put off. That's why this is only a 4 star review and not a 5 star. They'd make more business if they were faster.

Came right when they opened around noon, and everything was super fresh! I tried the pollo…read morepastelillos and they were amazing--perfectly seasoned filling and the dough was just right. The fish tacos were another highlight: crispy and cooked to perfection. Food and drinks were a little on the pricey side (especially the drinks), but honestly, the quality made it worth it. Would definitely come back for the pastelillos
